VDPDMXPC12 – 12-CHANNEL SWITCHPACK
1. Introduction & Features
Thank you for buying the
VDPDMXPC12
! Please read the manual carefully before bringing this
device into service.
This powerful and versatile device features 12 channels and is controlled manually or by
DMX512. It offers 8 chase programmes with adjustable chase speed. The DMX address,
programme number and chase speed are displayed.
Check carefully for damage caused by transportation. Consult your dealer and don’t install this
device if it has been damaged in transit.
2. Safety Instructions
A qualified technician should install and service this device.
Damage caused by disregarding certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the
warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for the ensuing defects or problems.
Do not switch the device on immediately if it has been exposed to changes in temperature.
Protect the device against damage by leaving it switched off until it has reached room
temperature.
This device falls under protection class I. It is essential, therefore, that the device be earthed.
Have this device installed by a qualified technician.
Make sure that the available voltage does not exceed the voltage stated in the specifications
of this manual.
Do not crimp the power cord and protect it against damage from sharp edges. Ask an
authorised dealer to replace the cord if necessary.
Always disconnect the device from the mains when it is not in use or when you wish to clean

3. General Guidelines
This device is a lighting controller for professional use on stage, in discos, theatres, etc. The
VDPDMXPC12 should only be used indoors with an alternating current of max.
230Vac/50Hz.
Do not shake the device. Avoid brute force when installing or operating the device.
Select a location where the device will be protected against extreme heat, moisture and dust.
Respect a min. distance of 50cm between the projector’s light output and the illuminated
surface.
Do not use or transport the device under temperatures < 5°C or > 35°C.
Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it. Do not permit
operation by unqualified people. Any damage that may occur will probably be due to
unprofessional use of the device.
Use the original packaging if the device is to be transported.
There may be some smoke or a particular smell when the device is activated for the first
time. This is normal and any smoke or smell will gradually disappear.
Do not touch the device during use as the housing heats up.
Note that all modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons.
Only use the device for its intended purpose. All other uses may cause short circuits, burns,
electroshocks, lamp explosions, crashes, etc. Using the device in an unauthorised way will

4. Installation
CAUTION :
Make sure there are no inflammables within a radius of 50cm when you are
mounting the device. The electric connection should be executed by a qualified
technician.
Do not operate the device unless the cover is in place.
Only replace a fuse when the device is not connected to the mains. Use a fuse of the same
type. Unscrew the fuse holder on the front panel, replace the old fuse and insert the fuse
holder in the housing again.
Connect the controller to the mains with the power plug. An ON/OFF switch with a min.
clearance of 3mm at every pole has to be included in the permanent electrical installation if
the device is to be directly connected to the local power supply network.

6. Operating Instructions
Select the desired mode with the
MODE
button. The following three modes are available :
Automatic Mode : Push the
UP
or
DOWN
button. The display will read

DOWN
again to select the chase speed, 9 being the fastest and 1 the
slowest speed. The display will go back to
A- -
if you don’t press any
button for 2 seconds. All 9 programmes will run 8 times in a row at the
selected speed.
Programming Mode : Push
UP
to select the run speed. Push
DOWN
to select one of the 8
programmes. Only the selected programme will runs in this mode. The
display will go back to P- - if you don’t press any button for two seconds.
DMX Mode : Push
UP
or
DOWN
to select the DMX start address from 1 to 512. The
DMX signal indication will flash if the unit receives a DMX signal.
7. Cleaning and Maintenance
1. All screws for installing the devices or parts of the device have to be screwed down tight and
must not be corroded.
2. The housing, mounting supports and connections should not be modified or tampered with
e.g. do not drill extra holes in mounting supports, do not change the location of the
connections, etc.
3. The moving parts must show no traces of wear and tear and should be well-balanced
4. The electric power supply cables must be undamaged. Have the device installed by a
qualified technician.
5. Disconnect the device from the mains prior to maintenance activities.
6. Wipe the device regularly with a moist cloth. Do not use alcohol or solvents.
7. Entrust a qualified technician with the maintenance of this device. Contact your dealer for
spare parts if necessary.
