Wrinkle-style, embossed clothes etc. may get distorted when immersed in water. Wrinkle-style silk,
fur products and fur decorations are also easily distorted.
Clothes with decoration, long dresses etc are products that decolourise easily.
Do not wash clothes without consulting the material label washing requirements.
Never wash clothes stained with the chemicals such as petrol, petroleum, benzene, paint thinner or
alcohol.
Detergents
Do not use hand wash detergent, “low-sudsing” liquid detergent or washing powder should only be
used. Otherwise, excessive bubbles may be generated and will overflow out of the drawer and
cause flooding and damage.
The detergent should be selected according to the fabric of the clothing (cotton, synthetic fiber, soft
products and wool products), colours, washing temperatures, level of dirt etc.
Bleach damages clothes, so it is suggested to use as little as possible.
Powder detergents can leave residues on clothes which can also generate bad odors, it is important
to make sure that they are sufficiently rinsed.
Powder detergent does not easily dissolve completely if there is too much detergent or if the water
temperature is too low. It can remain in clothes, pipes and washing machines and pollute the
clothes.
Washing shall follow the weight of the clothes, the level of soiling, local water hardness as well as
the recommendations from the detergent manufacturers. Please consult the water company if you
are not clear of the water hardness in your area.
Notes:
Keep detergents and additives in a safe and dry place out of the reach of children.
Empty all pockets prior to washing
Check the pockets of all clothing prior to being
washed. Empty any rigid items such as coins,
hair clips, keys, pens etc otherwise the washing machine
may be damaged.
For clothes to be washed, they need to be classified
according to the the characteristics on the label.
The symbols on care labels generally fall under the following -
cotton, blended fabrics, synthetic fabrics, silk, wool and artificial fibers.
Separating and Sorting the Load:
• Clothes need to be sorted before being put into the washing machine -
• Colour: Whites and colourful clothes need be identified and separated. All new colourful
articles need to be washed for the first time on a cycle alone.
• Size: Clothing of different sizes should be washed together to increase the washing
efficiency.
• Sensitivity: Soft articles need to be washed separately, for example wool fabrics, curtains
and silks. The delicates programme needs to be selected. Check the labels on all washing
articles.
• Curtains with hooks should have all of the hooks removed before being washed.
• Clothing with decorations, buttons or embroideries, need to be turned inside out before they
are washed. Warning: Decorations on clothes may be damaged during a washing cycle.
• Zips should be zipped up and buttons or hooks should be closed. Loose bands or ribbons
should be bound together.
!
It is suggested to put bras into a pillowcase
prior to washing and tie closed to prevent the steel
wire from popping out of bras and damaging the
machine.
Especially delicate textiles such as lace curtains,
small items such as tights, socks, handkerchiefs,
ties etc. should be put into string bag and sealed for
washing.
When washing single bulky items such as towels, jeans,
quilted jackets etc. it may easily cause unbalance due to
increased eccentricity. Therefore it is suggested to add one
or two more items of clothing to the wash, so that draining
can be done smoothly.
Items that are easily stained such as white sockets, collars, sleeves etc. should be hand
washed before being put into the washing machine, to achieve more ideal washing results.
When using powdered detergents or additives, it is suggested to use some water to dilute the
powder in order to prevent the inlet of the detergent box from being blocked and overflowing
while filling with water.
To protect baby skin
Baby clothes and towels, including towel nappies should be washed separately. If they are
washed together with adult clothing on normal cycle, the detergent may cause irritation to the
babies skin. The baby care programme increases the rinsing time to ensure the thorough
rinsing and cleaning of the fabric, by removing all detergent residues.
