DESCRIPTION
Ring Delay Switch is designed to DELAY the ring from an Incoming Telephone Call
connecting to a specific device for between 1 and 8 rings.
This Product is ideal for the following applications :
Delaying Answer by an Answering Machine
Delaying Answer by a Modem Based Device
Will allow for a Second Fax Machine to Answer a Fax Call, after a set
delay, if the First Fax Machine cannot answer for any reason.
Delay the Ringing of Specific Telephones
Ring Delay Switch is transparent in operation and will not affect the normal
operation of the telephone line that it is connected to.
Incoming and outgoing telephone calls to and from the Telephone Line will take place
exactly as they always have.
Incoming calls will connect to all devices connected to the Telephone Line out port,
without delay.
Incoming calls will connect to all devices connected to the Ring Delay port, after a set
delay of 1-8 rings, if the call has not been answered first.
Ring Delay Switch will automatically connect all attached Telephone Devices to the
telephone line as soon as they are activated by the user (ie picking up a receiver to dial,
or sending a transmission).
An EXCLUSION FACILITY is provided to ensure that a Device connected to the Ring
Delay Port cannot interfere or ‘Barge-In’ on a Device connected to the Telephone Line
Out port, if it is in use.
Similarly, a Device connected to the Telephone Line Out cannot interfere or ‘Barge-In’
on a Device connected to the Ring Delay port, if it is in use.
Ring Delay Switch is provided with a 2 YEAR FACTORY WARRANTY.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
RING DELAY DEVICE WILL
NOT ANSWER OR DIAL OUT
Ring Delay Switch in its default configuration, is programmed to remove your
Ring Delay Device from the telephone line and only connect your Ring Delay
Device to the telephone line after the appropriate Ring Delay setting, or when the
Ring Delay Device is wanting to make an out-going call.
By doing so, Ring Delay Switch can ENSURE that your Ring Delay Device will
not receive any incoming rings until after the desired Ring Delay.
However, a small number of Telephone Devices will NOT DIAL OUT or ANSWER
when connected to Ring Delay Device in this way.
If you have a device that will NOT Dial Out or Answer after installation, then you
should set Dip Switch 1 to the ON position.
When Dip Switch 1 is set to the ON position, Ring Delay Switch will leave your
Telephone device connected to your telephone line when your line is not in use. It
will then remove it from the telephone line whenever you attempt to make an
outgoing call with a Telephone Device connected to the Telephone Line Out port
(ie; a device that does not require Ring Delay) AND also each time there is an
incoming call to your telephone line.
If you require Dip Switch 1 to be set to the ON position, a very short burst of Ring
(less than 1/25th of a second) will connect to your Ring Delay device. This should
not cause your Ring Delay device to Answer the call, but as a precaution if your
Ring Delay device is an Answering Machine, Fax Machine, Modem or any other
automatic answering device, you should set your DEVICE to answer on TWO or
MORE RINGS.
Providing you do so, setting Switch 1 to ON will not interfere with your Line
Sharing requirements.

PBX SYSTEM OPERATION
Ring Delay Switch can also be used to connect a Telephone Device that requires
a Ring Delay, to a standard PSTN Line of a Multi-Line PBX Telephone System.
This is done by connecting the Ring Delay Switch direct to an incoming telephone
line, prior to the system controller. A Telephone Technician will connect the
incoming line direct to the TELEPHONE LINE IN Port and then connect the
TELEPHONE LINE OUT port to the PBX Telephone System.
The RING DELAY DEVICE will then connect to the RING DELAY port.
An EXCLUSION FACILITY is provided to ensure that the connected devices can
not interfere with each other. This means that if one device is in operation, the
other device will not be able to access the telephone line (‘Barge-In’).
Technical installation is required.
