By signing the EU Declaration of Conformity, the
manufacturer declares that the machine being brought
into service complies with all relevant safety and health
requirements.
Meaning of warning signs
Stay clear of swinging area of implements
Wait until all machine components have completely
stopped before touching them.
Do not enter rotor area while driving motor is running.
Never reach into the crushing danger area as long as
parts may move.

Hitching of machines with three point
linkage
Safety hints:
see supplement-A1 points 7.), 8a. - 8h.)
- Pinning the machine to the three point linkage.
- Fix the hydraulic lower link (4) in such a way that the
machine cannot swing out sideways. Push in the
support foot (5) and secure.
Hitching machines with drawbar (A)
1. Fit the anchor bar (1) at the lower linkage of the tractor.
The anchor bar must be able to rotate around the ball.
2. Hitch the drawbar to the anchor bar of the tractor.
3. Secure locking pin (2) using linchpin.
4. Secure the trailer using the safety chain as shown in
the illustration. (Observe the local laws and regulations!)
Hang the safety chain (3) around the anchor bar and
thread it through the large opening behing the coupling.
5. Push the support stands in at the front and back and
secure them with linchpins.
6. Adjust the tractor hydraulic to the correct height (see
Chapter Adjustments before work)

Important!
Only reposition the
lock pin when the
machine is in the
raised position.
Setting lower link
- Tractor's lower link (U) must be set so that there is no
sideways play in order to prevent tedder from swinging
back and forth.
Drive shaft adaption
The cardan shaft is to be checked and if necessary
adjusted before each use. "Shorten the drive shaft"
see Supplement-B .

Note: Overlengthed hydraulic hoses and electrical cables
are fitted to the machine. This enables the machine to
be coupled to various tractors
• Roll hydraulic lines and electrical cables together
appropriately and secure with cable binders (K).
• Rotating rotor must not damage hydraulic
hoses and electrical cables.
There must always be sufficient distance
to the rotating parts even when cornering.
• Observe lengths "L1 and L2"!

2. Connect hydraulic line (60) to tractor.
- Only connect hydraulic system to the tractor when
stopcock is closed (position A).

Parking the unit (N, H)
Always park the unit ensuring the greatest
stability!
• The unit may be parked from both working position
and transport position.
1. Insert pin (with the unit raised) at the pivoting headstock
(SB) in position B
2. Lower the unit with the lifting mechanism of the tractor.
3. Fold down and secure the front support stand
4. Fold down the rear support stand and secure with
linchpin (V)
5. Pull off the cardan shaft and place it on the support.
Do not use safety chain (H) to suspend the cardan
shaft!
6. Disconnect hydraulic line(s).
7. Disconnect elctric cables.
8. Unhitch unit from tractor.
Note!
Only reposition pins
with unit raised.
Parking the unit (A)
Always park the unit ensuring the greatest
stability!
• The unit may be parked from both working position
and transport position.
Note: Ensure that the unit does not tip
backwards.
2. Fold the rear support stand down first and secure the
rear support stand with the linchpin (V)
3. Fold down the front support stand and secure.
4. Pull off the cardan shaft and place it on the support.
Do not use safety chain (H) to suspend the cardan
shaft!
5. Disconnect the hydraulic line(s).
6. Disconnect electric cables.
7. Unhitch unit from tractor.

Parking in the open (H, N, A)
• When parking for longer periods in the open, clean
plunger rods and then coat with grease.
Important!
- The runner wheels on the swivelled up rotors are to be
turned vertically.
Doing this will prevent rain water from penetrating the
wheel bearings.
Winter storage (H, N, A)
The runner wheels should be disengaged when garaging
the implement.

ADJUSTMENTS BEFORE OPERATION
Adjustment of rotor inclination
Safety points
• Turn engine off when adjustment, service
and repair work is to be done.
• Do not work under the machine without
safe support.
• In the case of machines with drawbar
(Variant A), the rotor inclination of the
inner rotor may only be adjusted when the
machine is jacked up.
The cog enables the darrier axles to be adjusted within a
swivel range of 10°.
1 setting = 1° alteration to rotor inclination
A lot of fodder = greater angle
Not much fodder = smaller angle

Adjustment of working depth (N, H)
Adjust the working depth via the upper linkage so that the
crop is collected over the entire working width.
Adjustment of working depth (N, H)
Adjust the working depth using the dual-action control
device so that the crop is collected over the entire working
width.
Adjustment of the working depth limits
1. Turn the crank (1) above the rotor plate to set the lowest
possible working position. This is particularly important
to compensate tine abrasion.
2. Secure the crank using the locknut (2).

Conversion from working to transport
position
Safety Precaution!
Changing from working position to
transport position is only to be carried out
on even, firm ground.
For safety reasons, turn off drive shaft and
wait for rotor to stop completely.
Make sure that swivel area is free and that
nobody is standing in the danger area.
1. Raising the rotor arms
Manual raising (N,H)
- Hold the tubular handle (9)
with your hand and during
raising swivel the outer
rotor into the transport
position. The locking hooks
engage automatically.
Hydraulic raising (A, N, H)
- Change the working depth
to transport position. Set the
dual-action control device
to "Lift".
- The outer rotors are raised
into the transport position
by actualing the control
valve (ST).
The locking hooks engage automatically.
Attention!
- Check whether the locking hooks (10) are
locked into position correctly.
2. Using the tractor's lifting gear, lower the
implement far enough so that it stands on the
ground on both centre running wheels (H, N).
3. Swivelling the outer rotors
- Hold the tubular handle in one hand and release the
bolts (position C) with the other.
- When swivelling do not release the tubular handle until
the bolts are locked again (position G).
Conversion from transport to
workingposition
Safety Precaution!
Changing from working position to
transport position is only to be carried out
on even, firm ground.
Make sure that swivel area is free and that
nobody is standing in the danger area.
- Turn the rotors outward.
See "Swivelling the Outer Rotors".
- Release mechanical locks (10).
With hydraulic raising:
move the control valve (ST)
briefly to the "raise" position
simultaneously pulling on the
rope (S).
Doing this releases the
mechanical locks (10).
- Lower outer rotors to the
working position.

Driving on public roads:
• Observe the official regulations of your country.
• Travelling on open roads may only be carried out as
described in chapter "Transport position".
Total implement width in the working position: more

• Always swing the outer rotors in before transporting.
Only in this position is the maximum permissable transport
width not exceeded.
No-one can be injured by the rotor tines in
this position.

USE
General guidelines for working with the
machine
All work in the immediate area of the rotors may only
be carried out when the p.t.o. is switched off.
Caution! Do not enter rotor area while driving
motor is running.
- Choose the speed of travel so that all crops are picked
up thoroughly.
- In cases of overloading, shift down one gear.
Three-point slewing headstock "type N"
- Lift three point follower machine before going around
sharp bends and when reversing.
Beware!
Machine swings automatically back to
central position (M) when lifted and is
locked into position.
Take care that the swinging machine
does not endanger anybody and does
not hit solid obstacles. When lowering the
machine the locking devise is automatically
lifted.
Tractor control device (ST)
- Put tractor control device (ST) into "free gear" (floating
position or "lower").
In this way the rotors
adapt to uneven ground.
Operating on slopes
Take note! Machine with three-point slewing
headstock "type N"
If the implement is being raised by the lifting gear whilst
travelling in a curve, the implement swings automatically
into the central position. If working on slopes this
can lead to dangerous
situations, partly due to
the balance weight of
the implement (tipping,
slipping, material
breakage etc.).
The function of the
shock absorbtion struts is to allow the swinging
procedure to be executed slowly and continuously,
not in jerks and jolts.

(Optional extra)
Shock absorbtion struts (D)
are recommended for work on
slopes as they increase travel
safety.
Adjustment
By turning the hexagonal nut
(SK) the initial tension of the disk spring and, with that,
the pressure on the friction elements (R) on the rod
can be altered.
Adjustment
- Adjust length of upper link (9) so that rotors are inclined
forward and spring tines lightly touch the ground
(see chapter "Adjustment of rotor inclination" also).
Check upper link (9) adjustment regularly during work
operation.
Setting lower link
- Tractor's lower link (U) must be set so that there is no
sideways play in order to prevent tedder from swinging
back and forth.

USE
The machine runs slantwise behind the tractor
according to the direction of the runner wheels. This
causes the forage to be strewn into the field away
from the edge.
Swinging of a single runner wheel
- Press the adjusting lever (7) down
- Swing the wheels to the right or to the left.
- Lock the adjusting lever into the desired position.
Variant N, H Variant A
Note
In this working position the swivel area (9) is used to its
full extent.
When driving around bends away from the edge of the
field or at the end of the field, the machine must therefore
be lifted.
Attention!
The machine swings back into the central
position (M).

Cleaning of machine parts
Attention! Do not use high-pressure washers for the
cleaning of bearing- and hydraulic parts.
- Danger of rust!
- After cleaning, grease the machine according to the
lubrication chart and carry out a short test run.
- Cleaning with too high pressure may do damage to
varnish.
Safety point
• Turn engine off when ad ju st ment, service and repair
work is to be done.
Hydraulic unit
Caution! Danger of injury or infection!
Under high pressure, escaping fluids can penetrate
the skin. Therefore seek immediate medical help!
Make sure that the hydraulic system is suitable for the
tractor before connecting the hydraulic lines.
After the first 10 operating hours and then every
consecutive 50 operating hours
- Check the hydraulic unit and lines for tightness and
retighten screw connections if necessary.
Before operation
- Check hydraulic hoses for wear.
Replace worn or damaged hydraulic hoses immediately.
The replacement hoses must meet the manufacturer’s
technical requirements.
Hose lines are subject to natural ageing. The period of
use should not exceed 5 – 6 years.
Winter storage
- Thoroughly clean machine before storage.
- Put up protection against weather.
- Change or replenish gear oil.
- Protect exposed parts from rust.
- Lubricate all greasing points according to lubrication
chart.

valid.
In case there are no special instructions available, then
the notes in the accompanying drive shaft manufacturer´
instructions are valid.

MAINTENANCE
General maintenance hints
In order to keep the implement in
good condition after long periods
of ope ra ti on, please observe the
following points:
- Tighten all screws after the first
hours of operation.
In particular check:
- blade screws on the mowers
- tine screws on the swather and tedder.
Spare part
a. The original components and accessories have been
designed especially for these machines and appliances.
b. We want to make it quite clear that components and
accesories that have not been supplied by us have not
been tested by us.
c. The installation and/or use of such products can,
therefore, negatively change or influence the
construction characteristics of the appliance. We are not
liable for damages caused by the use of components
and accessories that have not been supplied by us.
d. Alterations and the use of auxiliary parts that are not
permitted by the manufacturer render all liability invalid.

After the first hours of operation
- Tighten all screws.
In particular the tine connections (12 kpm), the tine
bar connections (9 kpm) and the slewing headstock
connections should be checked.
- Always keep the stipulated air pressure in the tyres.
- Grease the lubrication points in accordance with the
regulation (see lubrication schedule).
Grease the lubrication nipples with universal grease
after every 20 hours of operation.
- Before leaving the machine over winter, oil all the joints
well and grease all bearings.
Intake transmission
- The intake
transmission runs
in oil which must be
renewed or added
to after every year
of operation:
- Pour gear lubricant
oil into the intake
transmission (see enclosure on fuel regulation).
Quantity: 0,5 l
Changing tines
- Remove broken tine after loosening the hexagonal nut
and fit new tine.
- For correct fitting observe the direction of the rotors!
- Tighten hexagonal screw with 12 daNm (= 12 kpm).

The defined use of the rotary tedder
The „HIT 470 N, HIT 470 H, HIT 540 N, HIT 540 A“ rotary tedder is intended solely for normal use in agricultural work.
• For the tedding, turning and raking of green and raw fodder and silage.
Any other uses outside of these are regarded as undefined.
The manufacturer takes no responsibility for any resulting damage which occurs henceforth. The risk is carried by
the user alone.
• The keeping of operating, service and maintenance requirements layed down by the manufacturer also come under
the heading of „defined use“.
