Safety Information
This device is a class A product and may cause radio interference. Take measures
if necessary.
Ensure a proper operating environment, including temperature, humidity, ventila-
tion, power supply, and lightning protection. The device must always be properly
grounded. Keep the device from dust, excessive vibration, liquid of any kind, and
strong electromagnetic radiation. Do not stack devices. A sudden power failure
may cause device damage or loss of data.
Do not touch sensor modules with fingers. If cleaning is necessary, use a clean
cloth with a bit of ethanol and wipe it gently. If the camera will not be used for an
extended period of time, put on the lens cap to protect the sensor from dirt.
Do not aim the camera lens at the strong light such as sun or incandescent lamp.
The strong light can cause fatal damage to the camera.
The sensor may be burned out by a laser beam, so when any laser equipment is
being used, make sure that the surface of the sensor not be exposed to the laser
beam.
Do not drop the camera or subject it to physical shock.

Preparation to setup
Before installation, be sure to have following:
TV/PC monitor (Not laptop or All in one computer)
VGA/HDMI cable
Router(WAN)
Connect the system
The NVR can power the camera through its PoE port. You don't have to connect
the camera to other power source.
1. Connect the NVR to a monitor with a VGA/HDMI cable (not included in the
package). You may skip this step if you view video only on your mobile phone.
2. Connect each camera to PoE ports on the NVR with provided network cables.
3. Plug in a USB mouse on the NVR.
4. Connect the NVR to a router with network cable.
5. Connect the NVR to power by provided power adapter.

1.Locate the positions of
the holes.
2.Drill holes on the wall.
Paste installation positioning
stickers on the wall and align
the cross center to the hole in
the wall.
Lead the cables across the hole

Use a Ø6-6.5mm drill bit.
Drill 30 mm-depth guide
holes according to the
positions marked by stickers.

3.Mount the plastic rivets
of self-tapping screws.
Knock the plastic rivets
into the guide holes and
ensure that they are
tightened up.

and connect all cables.

and fix them on the wall by
using a screwdriver.
Tighten the locknut.
Adjust the opening of the
universal joints as required.
Rotate the spherical hinge of
the camera to get the desired
monitoring direction.

4.Screw the locknut to loosen the
universal joint before attaching your
camera to the wall.
Verify installation and cable connection are correct. Connect NVR box to power
supply by provided power adapter. Camera’s image will show up on your monitor
screen in 2/3 minutes later.

Install Dome Camera
1.Attach the sticker to ceiling, then
drill holes according tot he sticker

Wizard
The wizard page is designed for quick setup. Please click Exit if you need detailed
instructions. Please follow this user manual to setup your system Step by Step.
From your home screen, right click your mouse, click Menu. You’ll see password
page pop up.Default Username is admin, Password is 123456. Simply click Log in
to access into the system.
Change password: After log-in, please right click of your mouse, navigate to
Menu>System> User>click Edit, change to your own password, or click Add to
create a new system account, click apply. Be sure to remember your username
and password
Set time: From your home screen, please right click your mouse, navigate to
Menu>System>Time, Select correct time zone. Set desired date/time formats and
time. Click Apply.

Check Network Status Connect NVR to your router by provided Ethernet
cable, on your monitor, please right click your mouse, click Menu>System>Net-
work, make sure Enable DHCP is checked in TCP/IP page, select P2P in the
headline, please check whether your status is Online or not. If Online, you’ll be
able to view the system remotely by phone or PC
Recording Configuration:
From your home screen, please right click your mouse, navigate to Menu>Stor-
age>Recording. A 24/7 recording schedule is enabled for all cameras by default.
Select the camera from the drop-down list. Make sure Enable Schedule is
checked, click a color icon on the right bar, then, drawpress or drag mouse on
the schedule. Click Copy, copy the setting to other channels. Click OK>Exit.
Note: 1. The operation for recording and snapshot are similar, so this section only
describes how to make a recording schedule.
2.After setting a schedule, you also need to enable motion detection function if you
want video recorded when an certain motion occurs.

Online
Motion Detection
Motion detection is enabled on the NVR by default. Unless modified, the detection
area covers the full screen, and recording is triggered only for the current camera.
The settings remain if you disable motion detection and then enable it again.
1. From your home screen, right click your mouse, navigate to Menu>System>
Alarm > Motion.
2. Select the desired camera and then select Enable.
3. Use the mouse to draw a detection area in red grid, and drag the slider to set
detection sensitivity. The higher the sensitivity, the more likely a moving object will
be detected.
4. Click Trigger Action. Please choose alert type: Buzzer, Send Email or Pop-up
Window. Then, you can select which camera to start record when this channel
detected motion.
Note: If no camera selected to record in Trigger Action part. Motion recording won’t
saved.

5. Click Arming schedule to set specific time for motion detection based on your
schedule.
6. Then, please click Apply. Click Copy, you can simply copy the motion setting to
other channels.
Live View
Connect an camera to the PoE port of NVR with a network cable. The connected
camera will be added to the NVR automatically after 2/3 minutes.
Check status under Camera > Camera > Camera. means live video from the
camera is available. Click to view live video.
means the IP device is offline, and you may view the cause by resting the
mouse pointer on the .

Audio feature isn’t supported at this time.
Click each camera at home screen, Window Toolbar will show up.
The following icon are used to indicate alarms, record status in live view window.
Normally, live view (video) is available after you complete the basic setup by
following the wizard. You can navigate to Menu>System > Preview and edit
preview setting as needed, including video output, image resolution, default layout,
and sequence interval.

Record live video in the window to the hard disk.
Click stops recording.
Click to play video recorded during the
past 5 minutes and 30 seconds.
Digital zoom in on an area of interest.
Click to edit image settings.

Click to take a snapshot. The window borders will flash white.
You may view and back up snapshots under Backup>Image.
Note: Click Channel 2 at right, enable D1, image of camera 1 will show up at
Channel 2. In this way, you can adjust each camera’s indication window.
Playback and backup
Right-click a preview window and then choose Playback, select camera and date,
recorded video will start to play automatically.
Backup
1.Insert your USB flash drive into the USB port of NVR box.
2.Right-click your mouse from home screen, choose Menu>Backup>Recording,
select camera, time, recording type, then, click Search. Recorded files will show
up on the screen.
3.Please select target file in the square, click Add. Recorded file will be transferred
to your USB flash drive.

Playback
VCA means Video Content Analysis. VCA search searches VCA data including
behavior, human face, and people counting. You need to select Save VCA Images
under Alarm>VCA before using behavior search and face search functions.
VCA Search
1. Download the free app ‘Guard Viewer’ from App Store or Google Play Store.
2. Tap in the upper right corner and choose your service area.
Note: Choose International if your device(s) are not located in mainland China.
Servers for different regions are independent. The username signed up for a
region may be unusable for another. The region cannot change once sign-up is
complete.

3. Then, please click Sign up, follow On-Screen instruction to create an account
based on your email address.
Note: after inputting password, please select ‘I have read and agree to Service
Agreement’, click Sign up. #Pic2.
4.You are logged in when sign-up is complete. Please tap in upper right
corner, click Device>Add>Scan. Click OK, scanning window will open.
5. Scan the QR code on your NVR box, or at Menu>System>Network>P2P page
on your monitor. If for some reason the QR code cannot be scanned, you may
input the register code manually.

Online
Share the device to another user
For safety consideration, our device can only be bind to one main account. The
host account can share the device to other users.
1.Please register an new account for the new users.
2.Login the main account(host account), From the home screen of Guard Viewer,
click the button at upper left corner, click Devices, select your Device name, click
Share.
3.Then, please input the new user’s username or email address. Click Share.
7.Then, please click in upper right corner again, click Live View, tap on a
window, select the camera to start live viewing.

Q: What’s the working temperature of Hornbill Security Camera.
A: Camera working temperature: From -50 degree Fahrenheit to+122 degree
Fahrenheit.
Q: How can I get motion notifications on my Smart Phone?
A: After connecting the system, motion detection alert is enabled by default, you’ll
receive motion notification on your phone. If haven’t, please make sure you
haven’t blocked message notification from ‘Guard Viewer’ app on phone settings.
Q: What should I do when I forgot my system password.
A: From your home screen, please right click your mouse, choose Menu, Login
page will show up, under admin account, please click Forgot Password button,
then, send your Serial No to [email protected]
So that we can send you temporary password as soon as possible.
Q: After connecting NVR box to router by Ethernet cable, system can not be Online.
A: Please make sure light on network port of NVR is flashing. Change network cable
for testing.
Please navigate to Menu>System>Network>TCP/IP, tick off Enable DHCP, click Apply,
select Enable DHCP again. Power off NVR and power it up again, please check the
result in 2-3 minutes. If problem remains, please reach to Hornbill Customer Service

Frequently Asked Question

Q: After connecting, why nothing show up on screen? How to troubleshoot?
A:1) Please make sure your monitor has been set to HDMI/VGA Mode (Please
match with the connection Port), and HDMI/VGA cable is tightly connected.
2)Whether the resolution of your Monitor is 960P or high above 960P? Since the
output resolution of our system is 960P(1280*1024). If monitor’s resolution is not
compatible, image won’t show up either.
3)Please try to connect NVR to another monitor with higher resolution, after
images show up, please right click the mouse--Menu--Manage--General--Resolu-
tion--adjust to lower level, such as 1024*768--Click ‘Apply’ to save.
4)If above doesn’t help, please try connect NVR to monitor by VGA cable, and set
the monitor mode to VGA. Since VGA connection is more stable than HDMI
connection.

Q: Pictures color is abnormal
A:From your home screen, please click on the camera’s image, select to edit
image output setting.
Q: The upload speed on mobile app is slow.
A: Please kindly noted that all remote viewing are based on network. Once you
find the upload speed is slow, at the home screen of ‘Guard Viewer’ app, please
change image stream from HD to Smooth.
Q: Cameras still record continually(24 hours everyday) though i selected Sched-
ule Recording, why?
A: On home screen, right click mouse, navigate to Menu> Manual Record, to
check whether the camera has been selected to manual record. Since manual
record is prior to normal record. If it doesn’t help, please reach to Hornbill Custom-

Q: A camera goes online and offline repeatedly.
A: 1. Check if network connection is stable. (Swapping ports and network cables
for testing)
2. Upgrade the firmware for the camera and the NVR. Contact us for the latest
Versions firmware file.
Q: Live view is normal, but the recording cannot be found.
A:1. Check that a recording schedule has been properly configured.
2.Check if the time and time zone configured in the NVR are correct.
3.Check if the hard disk storing the recording has been damaged.
4.Check if the desired recording has been overwritten.
Q: Motion detection is not effective.
A: 1. Check that motion detection is enabled, and the motion detection area is
properly configuraed.
2.Check that detection sensitivity is properly set.
3.Check that the arming schedule is properly configured.
Q:How can I receive e-mail notifications for motion detection?
A: 1. On your monitor, please navigate to Menu>Alarm>Motion, choose Channel,
click Enable. Then, please adjust Sensitivity, Set Area and time. Choose Send
Email as Trigger Action (alert type).
2.Then, on your home screen, please navigate to Menu>System>Network>Email,
to input following information to bind the system to your email.
Enable Server Authentication: Enabled
Username: Please input your email address.
Password: Please input your email password.
SMTP Server: If you’re using Hotmail/Outlook, please input: smtp.live.com If
you’re using gmail, please input: smtp.gmail.com
Sender and Recipient: Sender address should be the same as Username. Recipi-
ent can be the same as Sender.

3.If you still cannot receive any email notification, please log into the web version
of your Email account. At the upper right-hand corner, click on the Settings button,
then select Connected accounts > POP and IMAP Select ‘Yes’ and ‘Don’t’ as
shown in the picture below and Save.
Q: How to remote view on PC-client software.
A: After connecting Camera System to Internet (connect NVR to your router),
adding the Device to Smart Phone, you can download PC-client software to
remote view on PC or laptop. Please contact hornbill Customer Service Team via
[email protected] for PC-client software of latest version.
1.After installing the PC-client software to your computer, please login by default
Username: admin, Password: 123456 (If you have changed it, please input your
own password).
