CC-BACsoft Installation Procedure
System Requirements
Windows 2000 Professional
WinControl version 1.5.6 or higher
WinControl Considerations
First make sure that WinControl has been installed and configured. For Scheduling purposes, the relays that the
customer wishes to control must be grouped with Switch Codes. The Switch Codes should be set for Blink Warn.
This allows for setting of Occupancy Mode. These relays should not be programmed to follow WinControl
schedules.
Allowing WinControl and the Gateway to communicate with panels simultaneously. The base DCOM component of
WinControl must be set to run as a specified user. If not, then WinControl will not be able to open communications
to the panels while the Gateway is running.
Run DCOM Config: The WinControl communication component must be set to run as a specified user.
This will bring up a configuration dialog.
Select the Application “HSite Class” and get properties.
Switch to the “Identity” tab.
Select the “This user” radio button. Enter a valid user and password for the software to run under.
Network Drivers for BACNet
Next the network drivers for BACnet must be installed. Select Start – Settings - Control Panel – Network.
Windows 2000: Right click on Local Area Connection, and select Properties. Click Install. Select Protocol, then
Add. Choose “Have Disk”.
Windows NT: Click on the protocols tab page. Click Add. Choose “Have Disk”.
Go to the network properties and edit the network adapter that will be carrying the BACnet traffic. Add a new
protocol. When asked which protocol, click on Have Disk and select the CD-ROM.(Usually D: or E:)
Ethernet
Edit the BACstac ports to match the BACnet network configuration. The default has Port ID 1 set as the network
adapter. The default BACnet network number for network adapter is also one (1). You should change this network
number to your existing BACnet network number.
BACNet/IP
If the main network is running BACnet/IP then the first port, Port ID 1, will have to be deleted and replaced with a
new entry that is set for BACnet/IP instead of the default, which is Ethernet. NOTE: Be sure to set the network
subnet mask and UDP port properly for BACnet/IP.
Port 2 / CC-BACsoft
The second port, Port ID 2, is for the CC-BACsoft server. It defaults to BACnet network number two (2). If you
already have a Network number 2, you must change the network number for port ID2 to a unique number.
NOTE: some systems will require a restart. In Windows 2000, you can disable/enable the network card to activate
the BACstac driver.
Final Steps:
Run the “CC-BACsoft Install.exe” program.
At the end of the install, the CC-BACsoft Manager program will run. Select the site file (*.hci) setup for
WinControl.
The CC-BACsoft Manager should start automatically. If not, look in the system tray by the clock for the manager's
icon.
Now, start the service by clicking on the run button.
(NOTE: rebooting will start the service automatically.)
Special Notes about Manager Settings:
The default operation of relays through the gateway will not affect Occupancy mode of the relays. The Switch Codes
will be programmed in WinControl to manage the Scheduling On/Off of relays with a function of “Blink Warn”.
After an On command from a Switch Code, the relay will be in Occupancy, time delays will be disabled.
If it is desired to manage the occupancy (time delay) of relays individually and/or through groups defined in
BACnet, the Relay Control options will provide this functionality.
With the Occupancy setting activated, the relays will be turned On when commanded and disable time delays. When
a relay is commanded off from BACnet, it will turn Off and enable time delays. NOTE: the relay will Blink Warn
first if programmed to do so in WinControl.
The Occupancy On Only setting can be used to modify BACnet relay commands further. When a relay is
commanded ON directly from BACnet, it’s state will not be changed, time delays will be disabled. This is beneficial
if users normally turn on their own lights upon entering an area with a Phone Override or manual switch. The relay
will turn off normally when commanded directly from BACnet. Switch Codes will be used to command relays On
from BACnet while this feature is active.
