Introduction
Usage
In order to use the Interactive pen tool, the projector must be connected with a USB cable to
a computer with the Interactive white board tool installed on it. First launch the Interactive
white board tool, then launch the Interactive pen tool.

Installing the Interactive pen tool
Operating environment
Item Specication
OS Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or OS X 10.10
CPU Pentium 4.1 GHz or above
RAM 512 MB or more
HDD 70 MB or more free space
Graphics card 128 MB or more
If using Windows, set the display to 100%. To change this setting, go to [Appearance and
Personalization] in the [Control Panel] and choose [Display], then select [100%].
Installation
Installing the software on a computer running Microsoft Windows
The procedure for installing the software on a system running Microsoft Windows 7 is
described below.

Insert the CD-ROM provided with the projector into the CD/DVD-ROM drive of
the computer. Display a directory of the contents of the CD/DVD-ROM drive
and double-click the icon to launch the install assistant.
Select a language, and click [OK].

When the install wizard is displayed, click [Next].

Confirm that the box next to [Interactive player tool] is checked, and click
[Next].

Click [Install] to start the installation process.

Click [Next] and then click [Install] to start installation of the Interactive player
tool software.

Installation completes. Click [Finish].

Uninstalling the software from a computer running Microsoft Windows

On the [Start] menu, select [Control Panel].

Click [Uninstall a program].

Under [Name], double-click [Interactive pen tool].
Installing the software on a Mac running OS X

Insert the CD-ROM supplied with the projector into the CD/DVD-ROM drive of
the Mac. Double-click the CD-ROM icon on the desktop, then double-click [IP-
Tool for Mac.pkg] in the root folder of the CD/DVD-ROM.

When the [Welcome to the IP-Tool for Mac Installer] window appears, click
[Continue].

Click [Install] to start the installation process.

When the installation process nishes, click [Close].

Connect the computer to the projector using the USB cable supplied with the
projector.
Uninstalling the software from a Mac running OS X

Open the [Applications] folder.

Drag the [IP-Tool] folder to the trash.

Select [Empty Trash] to delete the les from the trash.

Running the Interactive pen tool
Launch the Interactive white board tool before launching the Interactive pen tool. If the
Interactive pen tool is launched rst, it runs in limited functionality mode.

Click the icon on the desktop or in the quick launch tray to launch the Interactive pen tool.
2. Launching the Interactive pen tool from the programs
menu
Follow the steps below to launch the Interactive pen tool from the programs menu.

Click the [Start] button on the Windows taskbar.

Click [All Programs].

Click [Canon].

Click the [Interactive pen tool] menu item.

Click the [Interactive pen tool] icon. The Interactive pen tool starts.

Click the Interactive pen tool launch icon on the Interactive white board tool menu.
The Interactive white board tool icon appears in the system tray when the Interactive white
board tool is running.
Click the Interactive white board tool icon to display the Interactive white board tool menu.
On the menu that appears, click [Run interactive pen tool] to launch the Interactive pen tool.

Screen conguration and main functions
1. Toolbar types
You can set the toolbar to display in the position of your choice. The toolbar has a straight
mode (straight toolbar) and a free mode (free toolbar). You can position the straight toolbar
on any edge of the screen: right, left, top, or bottom. You can position the free toolbar
anywhere on the screen you like. You can select the toolbar type and position from the
Interactive pen tool menu, and your selections are saved when you quit the Interactive pen
tool.
Note
Only the straight toolbar is supported on the Mac.

3. Free toolbar (Windows)
The free toolbar has three sections: A, B, and C.
Section A:
This section has two functions. The rst is to display the currently selected tool. The
second is to display the main menu of the Interactive pen tool. Drag this area to move
the free toolbar. Right-click it to display the main menu.
Section B:
This section displays icons for the tools and functions of the Interactive pen tool. You
can switch among the functions of the Interactive pen tool by clicking the
corresponding icons.
Section C:
This section displays icons for function and tool details.
When you click an icon in section B, the corresponding set of icons is displayed in
section C. If you do not click anything in section C within five seconds, the icons
displayed in section C disappear.

4. Description of the free toolbar (Windows)
(1) Displaying the main menu
Right-click section A of the free toolbar to display the main menu.
(2) Selecting the color and pen thickness
When you click this icon, icons for 16 colors and four pen thicknesses are displayed in
section C. Click a color or a pen thickness to select it.

(3) Switching functions
Windows mode: Click this icon during
a lecture to switch from writing mode
to Windows mode so that you can
launch other Windows applications.
Select Object: Allows you to select a
drawing, clipart, or shape as an object.
Intelligent mode: Allows you to use the
pen and the mouse without having to
switch between modes.
Note expansion: Allows you to
increase the size of a note.

(6) Switching notes
Click these icons to display the previous or the next note. These icons can be used
when two or more notes have been created.
(7) Using the magnier
You can magnify an area of the selected note or enlarge an area of all notes from
100% to 400%.

Return to the initial note size.

Magnify the note by 200%.
300%
Magnify the note by 300%.
400%
Magnify the note by 400%.
Magnify a selected area. Click [100] to
return to the initial size.
Enlarge or reduce the display.

(8) Recording video
Click this icon to save a video le of what you write in a note during a lecture. Audio is
obtained from the microphone connected to the computer, and video is obtained from
the USB camera. You can switch between recording and playback, and select the
recording mode.
The video le can be played using the Interactive player tool. See page 50 in chapter 8
for details.
Start recording icon: Click this icon to
start recording. The icon becomes
inactive when recording starts.
Stop recording icon: This icon
becomes active (clickable) when
recording starts. Click it to stop
recording.
Three recording modes are available.
(1) Audio recording: Audio from the microphone connected to the computer is
recorded along with video of the screen.
(2)
Video recording: Video and audio of the lecture are recorded from the USB camera
and microphone connected to the computer along with video of the screen.
(3) Screen recording: Video of the screen is recorded.
Click [Input Test] to test the input from the microphone or USB camera connected to
the computer. If camera and microphone functionality are not built into the computer,
connect a suitable camera and microphone.

(9) Erasing objects
You can erase all or some objects.
Erase all objects from the note.
This item is not available on the Mac.
