WA2600 enhanced series APs quick
start guide
This guide provides steps for basic installation for the WA2600 enhanced series access
points. Further information, such as optional installation and configuration procedures
and technical specifications about connections and power is available in the H3C
WA2600 Enhanced Series Access Point Installation Guide.
Installation preparations
This chapter describes the preparations for WA2600 enhanced series installation,
including unpacking and inspection of the product, preparation of installation tools, and
choosing the location site.
WARNING!
H3C recommends that installation and removal of the unit and its accessories be carried out by
qualified personnel. Read all of the safety and installation instructions supplied with your device
before installation and operation.
Unpacking and inspection
Before unpacking the product, ensure that the package is not damaged and that it
does not show signs of water damage. When unpacking the package, avoid excessive
force.
The accessories vary with the models. For the exact contents of the package, refer to
the packing list. If the contents do not match the packing list, contact your H3C
representative.
If the package is found to be rusted or water soaked, stop unpacking and contact your
H3C representative immediately.

Installation site examination
Before installation, examine the installation site from the following aspects: temperature
and humidity requirements, power supply, and grounding and lightning protection. For
these requirements, see the H3C WA2600 Enhanced Series Access Point Installation
Guide. For details about temperature and humidity requirements, power supply, and grounding
and lightning protection, see the
H3C WA2600 Enhanced Series WLAN Access Point Installation
Guide
.
After you have completed the installation preparations, continue with AP installation.

AP Installation
The WA2600 enhanced series WLAN APs can be directly affixed onto a wall by using the
wall-mounting brackets. This section contains the wall-mounting procedure for the
WA2600 enhanced series.
Determining the installation position
Determine the installation position by observing the following:
Leave as few obstacles (such as wall and ceiling) as possible between the AP and
the wireless stations.
Keep the AP far away from electronic devices (such as microwave ovens) that may
generate RF noise.
Install the AP in a place where it will not hinder people’s daily work and life.
Ensure the ceiling is strong enough and the structure is suitable when using ceiling
mounting. Reinforce the ceiling if needed. A padlock is required for ceiling
mounting to prevent falloff due to shock or vibration.
Installing the wall-mounting bracket on the wall
1. There are eight installation holes in the wall-mounting bracket. Use at least four of
them for the installation. Measure and mark the wall where the AP would be
mounted. Ensure holes correspond to those in the bracket. Using a precision drill
with a 6 mm (0.24 in) bit, drill holes on the markings. The arrowhead on the bracket
should point upward.
2. Insert the pointed end of anchors into the drilled holes and tap the flat end of
anchors with a rubber hammer until they are all flush with the wall surface.
3. Align the holes in the wall-mounting bracket with the anchors and insert screws
through the installation holes into the anchors.
4. Adjust the position of the wall-mounting bracket as necessary, and tighten the
screws.
Installing the AP on the wall-mounting bracket
The installation procedure is the same for both the WA2610E-AGN and WA2620E-AGN.
The WA2610E-AGN is used as an example in this guide.
6
1. Align the AP with the hooks on the wall-mounting bracket and hang the AP on the
bracket. See (1) in Figure 1 .
2. Press the AP downward to affix it. See (2) in Figure 1 .

Optional: Locking the AP onto the wall-mounting bracket
The WA2600 enhanced series APs have a security slot on the top, which can be used to
lock the AP onto the wall-mounting bracket to prevent theft. For details, see the H3C
WA2600 Enhanced Series Access Point Installation Guide. A lock is user-supplied.
7
Connecting the power supply
Local power supply
Connect the AP to the power source through the power adapter.
Power over Ethernet (PoE)
If the uplink device of the AP is a PoE-capable switch, use an Ethernet cable to connect
the Ethernet interface of the AP to the PoE-capable device.
CAUTION:
In the PoE mode, you do not need to connect the power interface to a power source. You
only need to connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet interface of the AP and
the other end to an Ethernet interface of the PoE-capable device (for example, an Ethernet
switch).
Identify the silkscreen on the device to avoid confusing the console interface for the Ethernet
interface and vice versa.
The WA2620E-AGN supports only non-standard PoE power supply (the PoE input power must
be at least 16W).
Connecting the AP to the network
The WA2600 enhanced series can access the Internet or metropolitan area network
(MAN) through the Ethernet uplink interface. Connect the Ethernet interface of the AP
to an Ethernet interface of an Ethernet switch to implement Internet or MAN access.
For details on configuring your AP (work in fat mode), see the H3C WA Series WLAN
Access Points Configuration Guides, H3C WA Series WLAN Access Points Command
