Wired ADSL2+ Router
1. Connecting the router
Before installing the device, please make sure your
broadband service provided by your ISP is available. If there
is any problem, please contact your ISP. You need to connect
the device to the phone jack, the power outlet, and your
computer or network. Before cable connection, cut off the
power supply and keep your hands dry.
a. Connect the ADSL LINE.
Method one: Plug one end of the twisted-pair ADSL
cable into the LINE port on the rear panel of DT820N,
and insert the other end into the wall socket.
Method two You can use a separate splitter.
External splitter can divide the data and voice, and
then you can access the Internet and make calls at
the same time. The external splitter has three ports:
LINE: Connect to the wall jack
PHONE: Connect to the phone sets
MODEM: Connect to the ADSL LINE port of
DT820N
Plug one end of the twisted-pair ADSL cable into the
LINE port on the rear panel of DT820N. Connect

the other end to the MODEM port of the external
splitter.
b. Connect the Ethernet cable. Attach one end of a
network cable to your computer’s Ethernet port or a
regular hub/switch port, and the other end to the LAN
port on the DT820N.
c. Attach the power adapter. Connect the power adapter
to the POWER connector on the rear of the device
and plug in the adapter to a wall outlet or power
extension.
d. Turn on the DT820N and power on the computers and
LAN devices.

2. Login to the router
To connect to the router, you should set up the TCP/IP
Protocol in "Obtain an IP address automatically" mode
on your PC(s). If you need instructions, please refer to
the User Guide on the Resource CD.
a. Launch a suitable web browser and type in
192.168.1.1 in the address bar of the browser.
b. After a moment, the login screen shows. Enter the
default Username admin and the default Password
admin. Then click Login or press Enter.

3. Connect to the Internet
a. If the User Name and Password are correct, you can

configure the router using the web browser. Please
select the Quick Start tab, and then click RUN
WIZARD, the next screen will appear. Click the NEXT
button to continue.

b. Configure the time for the router, and then click the
NEXT button.

c. Select the connection type to connect to the ISP (We
select PPPoE/PPPoA mode for example here), and
then click the NEXT button.

I. If you have a PPPoE/PPPoA account, select
PPPoE/PPPoA and click NEXT to configure the
following options: Username, Password, VPI, VCI
and Connection Type in Figure 6. Then click
NEXT.

II. If you have a dynamic IP (or an automatic IP)
account, select Dynamic IP Address and click
NEXT to load the following figure. Then configure

the VPI, VCI and Connection Type in Figure 7,
and then click NEXT.

III. If you have a fixed IP (or static IP) account, select
Static IP Address and click NEXT to load the
following figure. Then enter the VPI, VCI, IP
parameters and Connection Type in Figure 8, and
then click NEXT.

IV.
If you want to set the router as a bridge, select
Bridge Mode and click NEXT. Then enter the VPI,
VCI and Connection Type in Figure 9, and then
click NEXT.

d. Click NEXT to finish the Quick Start.
