The HMX high performance KVM
extender system 5000 and 6000
series and the LongView™ 5000
series transmitters and receivers can
be rack mounted individually as a
single unit, together as a “dual” unit,
or as standalone units on the rear of
a video monitor. More information on

CAUTION: Because HMX and
LongView extenders and their
power supplies generate heat
when in operation, do not place
them in locations where air cannot
circulate to cool the equipment.
One-third of the U space (1.5 cm)
must be allowed between rows of
extenders when mounting within a
rack chassis. Do not operate the
system in ambient temperatures
exceeding 40O Celsius or place
extenders in contact with other
equipment that has surface
temperatures exceeding that.
Mounting on the rear of a
video monitor
NOTE: For this configuration, the
monitor must adhere to the VESA
standard for mounting holes on the
rear panel.
1. Securing the brackets to
the video monitor
Place the bracket on the video
monitor rear panel and fasten in
place with the supplied screws.
2. Positioning the extender
in the bracket
With the extender front panel
facing up, slide the bottom of
the extender into the bracket.
Align the holes and fasten in
place.
Single unit rack mounting
1. Securing brackets to the
extender
Use the supplied screws to
mount the two brackets to the
sides of the unit.
2. Positioning the extender
in the rack
Slide the assembly into the rack
and fasten in place using the
appropriate rack hardware.

Dual unit rack mounting
1. Securing brackets to the
extenders
On the first extender, use the
supplied screws to attach an L
bracket to the left side and a U
bracket to the right side. On the
second extender, attach the L
bracket to the right side and
the U bracket to the left side.
2. Attaching the U brackets
Slide the U brackets on each
extender together until the
holes align, then use screws to
fasten them together.
3. Positioning the extenders
in the rack
Position the extender assembly
into a 1U rack space and mount
using the appropriate rack
hardware.
