PATROLLER OVERVIEW
The NP36 Network Patroller lets you view diagnostics, check uptime and downtime, manage network devices,
perform reboots remotely, more. These features save you both time and money that would otherwise be spent
on service calls.
The front panel of the NP36 displays a pair of blue LEDs. See Table 1 below for more information.

The rear panel is where the physical cabling (power, Ethernet, console) is located. Table 2 describes each port

INITIAL PATROLLER SETUP
Tools required:
o Phillips screwdriver (if using rack-mount brackets).
o PC or laptop with Ethernet interface and a web browser (an integrated DB-9 port or USB-to-Serial adapter
or HDMI cable may be necessary if you would like to use the console interface).
o Ethernet cable.
Installation
1. Open the box and remove the unit.
2. If mounting the Patroller in a standard 19” A/V rack, attach the rack-mounting brackets to the sides (rack-
mounting brackets are included). If not rack-mounting, ensure that the Patroller is physically mounted
near power and network connections (i.e. backbone switch or firewall/router).
3. Connect power to the device push the power switch on the rear panel. The PWR LED will light up and the
fans will start.
Logging into the Patroller
1. If you are using a Pakedge router that has an internal IP address of 192.168.1.99 (or a router with an IP
scheme of 192.168.1.X) proceed with step 2.
If you are not using the IP scheme of 192.168.1.X on your current network, connect an ethernet cable
from your computer to the Patroller directly. Configure the PC with a static IP address of 192.168.1.10
and subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 .
2. Open a web browser (Mozilla Firefox is prefered). In the browser, enter the Patroller’s default IP address
of 192.168.1.237 into the address bar and press <ENTER>.
3. A web page will appear prompting you for a username and password ( Firgure 1.1). Enter pakedge for
the username and pakedgep for the password. Then click Login to log into the web administration
portal.

Once you are connected you will have the following options:

You will also have the mac address, serial number and firmware version display once you are login in to the
NP36. ( Figure 1.2)

In the LAN setting seciton you have the option to change the IP address subnet and defatul gateway to the

netnwork settings you are currently working on. Click Apply to finalize the settings. ( Figure 1.4)

5. After making the appropriate changes to the LAN settings, we will now move forward to registering the
unit. Please click NP36 Registration
Before Registering the Patroller:
For First time BakPak users Please proceed with the First Time Bakpak Users section.
If you already have a bakpak account that is set up as admin please proceed to the Registering Your
Patroller section.
FIRST TIME BAKPAK USERS
If you are new to Bakpak then you will first need to create your Admin account so that you can register
patrollers as well as create accounts for your technicians. If you have already created an Admin account skip to
Registering Your Patroller section. In order to create an admin account take the following steps:
1. Contact our Sales department. Their contact information is as follow:

You will need to have the email address that you wish to use to create the Admin account ready.
2. Our Sales department will email you a dealer registration code that you will need in order to create your
Admin account.
3. Once you have received the dealer code go to mybakpak.com
4. Click Create a Dealer Admin Account. (Figure 1.5)

5. There will be a message that informs you about the procedure for creating an Admin account. Click OK (
Figure 1.6)

6. Fill out the required information to register for your bakpak account. Be sure to enter the dealer code
you were emailed by the sales dept. Click Register. ( Figure 1.7)

You have now created your Admin Bakpak account. You can begin to register patrollers under your account.
REGISTERING YOUR PATROLLER
1. Log in to the NP36 ( NP36 Login screen Figure 1.8)

2. Once you have logged into the Patroller, you will see the main page. Click on NP36 Registration. Figure

3. You will be redirected to an agreement page ( Figure 1.10) . Click IAccept to continue.

4. You will be redirected to the mybakpak login screen ( Figure 1.11) Enter the email address and
password to the Admin account. Enter a name for the Patroller and select your timezone. Click
Register.

Your patroller has now been registered.
MANAGING MYBAKPAK
To access your mybakpak account, enter www.mybakpak.com into your web browser and login with your
credentials. Once logged in, you will be redirected to the profile page. This page will display all of the
partrollers that are registered to your MyBakPak account. From the main page you can perform several
functions, such as adding, removing, and editing profiles. All of these functions are covered in the next section (
Mybakpak profile page Figure 1.12)

ADDING A PROFILE
Take the following steps to add a patroller that has been registered to your MyBakPak account.
1. Log into to MyBakPak.com.
2. Click on Add Profile (Figure 1.13)

3. Select your patroller from the Pakedge Network Patroller drop-down menu. Please note that you will not
see it in the menu until you have registered your patroller. See the section titled Registering Your Patroller
for assistance. Enter a Profile Name. You can also enter a Street Address for the site where the patroller is
located. For VLAN IP Address, enter the first IP address of your network. Enter the VLAN ID as well. ( Figure
1.14)

4. If you have multiple VLANs you are using you can click the plus icon to add another VLAN, under vlan
information ( Figure 1.15) .

5. Enter the information for the your VLAN ( Figure 1.16). You will need to enter the first IP address for your
VLAN and the VLAN ID.

6. Click Add when finished.
7. You should now see your new profile listed under the Profiles page.
REMOVING A PROFILE
Please take the following steps to remove a profile from your MyBakPak account.
1. Log into MyBakPak.
2. Hover your mouse over the bottom center of the profile you wish to remove and click the check box. Then
click Delete. Please seefiguire 1.17 for illustraion.

3. Pop up window will then appear to confirm that you want to remove the profile ( Figure 1.18) . Click OK to
remove it.

4. The profile is now removed.

SCANNING ACROSS VLANS
The NP36 can scan across VLAN’s to discover devices on the network. To allow scanning across VLAN’s please
follow the steps below:
1. Navigate to the Profile page.
2. Hover over your profile and select the checkbox at the bottom-center of the page ( Figure 1.19). Then
select Edit.

3. Once you are on the edit page you will then be able to enter the VLAN information for your network. In
the example below, 192.168.1.1 is the first IP address of VLAN 1, so we enter 1 as the VLAN ID. ( Figure
1.20)

Please note that if your network has a different IP scheme than the Pakedge default, you will need to put
in the appropiate network information. For example, if your VLAN 1 IP scheme is 10.0.0.X, you would
enter 10.0.0.1 as the IP address.
4. To add sevaral vlan’s click on the + icon to add a space for another VLAN. ( Figure 1.21)

In this example, we add VLAN2. We enter the first IP address of VLAN2, 192.168.2.1. Since this is the
second VLAN, we must enter 2 as the ID. ( VLan 2 illustration see figure 1.22 and figure 1.23 to add more
vlans)

5. Click Update Profile to finalize the settings.
6. The Patroller will now find devices across VLANs. To scan for devices, please proceed with the Device
Discovery section.

DEVICE DISCOERY
The Patroller can scan your network to find devices. Once the devices are discovered, you can create a network
map to visually display how your network is connected. Please take the following steps to scan your network
and then proceed to building a network map.
1. Navigate to the Profile page.
2. Click on your profile. ( Figure 1.24)

3. Once you have clicked on your profile Click on Device Discovery, located on the top right hadns side of
the page.( Figure 1.25)

4. The Patroller will scan the network for your devices. This will take a few moments to complete. You wil
have percentahge count down appear Figure 1.26.

5. Once the scanning process is complete, you will have a a list of discovered devices. ( Figure 1.27)

6. Devices that are different VLANs will also be displayed ( Firgure 1.28) . The number at the upper right
hand side indicates the VLAN ID.

7. Click Select All at the upper-right corner to highlight all of the devices. You can also select devices
manually by clicking on them.Click Add Devices to add them to your profile. Figure 1.29

When you perform a scan, the patroller can also discover non-Pakedge equipment.This is demonstrated
with the following image (Figure 1.30) .

8. Once the devices are added, the devices will then be listed under the Device View page ( Figure 1.31) .
