SECTION 1 - INTRODUCTION
This guide describes the Installation of the SRS 300 Gas Assisted Regeneration Kit (P/N 056886) for use with the Self-
Regenerating Suppressor® (SRS) 300. This device can be operated in Gas Assisted Recycle Mode and Gas Assisted External
Water Mode.
SECTION 2 - INSTALLATION IN THE SRS RECYCLE MODE
2.1 Installation Steps
a. Connect the 1/8" REGEN IN line (Shortest tubing extending from the Tee) to the SRS REGEN IN port.
b. Connect the line from the Mixing Tee (longer tubing extending from the Tee) to the back pressure coils.
c. Start flow through the columns and suppressor (with the current on) until eluent exits the REGEN OUT port.
d. Connect a gas line to the Regulator.
e. Pressurize the Regulator between 5 - 15 psi using either Helium or Nitrogen gas.
NOTE: The gas flow across the Regenerant chamber in a 4-mm SRS 300 is approximately
100 cc (mL/min) at a set pressure of 10 - 12 psi. The gas flow across the Regenerant chamber in a
2-mm SRS 300 is approximately 100 cc (mL/min) at a set pressure of 10 - 15 psi.

SECTION 3 - INSTALLATION IN THE SRS EXTERNAL WATER MODE
3.1 Installation Steps
a. Connect the 1/8" REGEN IN line (Shortest tubing extending from the Tee) to the SRS REGEN IN port.
b. Connect the line from the Mixing Tee (the longer tubing extending from the Tee) to the line from the external
water source. A pump capable of delivering 2 - 3 mL/min is recommended for operation in the external water
mode.
c. Start flow through the columns and suppressor (with the current on) until water exits the REGEN OUT port.
d. Connect a gas line to the Regulator.
e. Pressurize the Regulator between 5 - 15 psi using either Helium or Nitrogen gas.
NOTE: The gas flow across the Regenerant chamber in a 4-mm SRS 300 is approximately 100 mL/min
at a set pressure of 10 - 12 psi. The gas flow across the Regenerant chamber in a 2-mm SRS 300
is approximately 100 mL/min at a set pressure of 10 - 15 psi.
SECTION 4 - INSTALLATION WITH ADDITIONAL DETECTORS IN SERIES
The SRS 300 Gas Assisted Regeneration Kit is connected exactly as described above. Place the gas assisted apparatus
directly before the REGEN IN port of the SRS 300 allowing normal operation with additional detectors.

SECTION 6 - OPERATION
A mixture of gas and liquid will be seen in the short tubing near the REGEN IN port. The gas and liquid should be
finely mixed under the above conditions. Due to the high gas velocity, only a trace of liquid should be visible in
the waste line.
If discrete zones of gas followed by liquid (similar to normal SRS 300 operation) are observed in the waste
line, check for high back pressure in the waste line. Replace the waste line if constriction or back pressure is observed.
The waste line should be a 1/8" line that is free from bends and constrictions. The recommended SRS 300 Back
Pressure Coils should remain in place after the Conductivity Cell.
SECTION 7 - SOLVENT CONSIDERATIONS
When operating with eluents containing solvents, the regenerant chamber may develop higher back pressure. Under this
condition, increase the gas pressure to achieve higher gas flow rate to allow for complete mixing of gas and liquid.
SECTION 5 - RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS
5.1 Recycle Mode
Gas Assisted Regeneration in the Recycle mode is recommended for aqueous applications requiring low noise.
This mode of operation replaces the external water mode of operation that uses 5 - 10 cc (mL/min) of deionized water.
5.2 External Water Mode
For solvent applications, Gas Assisted Regeneration in the External Water mode using a pump is recommended.
The recommended deionized water flow is approximately 2 - 3 mL/min for most applications. This replaces the
external water mode of operation that uses 10 - 15 mL/min of deionized water.

8.1 ICS-300, ICS-2500, ICS-2000, ICS-1500, ICS-1000, and DX 500, DX 600 Systems
The following items are recommended for operation with DX 500 and DX 600 systems to automatically turn ON and OFF
the flow of gas.
AC2 Power Control Accessory P/N 046057
CAM Controlled Air Module, 115V P/N 037125
The AC2 module controls the CAM module, turning the gas ON and OFF.
8.2 DX 120 Systems
The following items are recommended for operation with DX 120 systems to automatically turn ON and OFF the flow of
gas.
CAM Controlled Air Module, 115 V P/N 037125
Accessory Power Adapter Cable P/N 960749
The cable connects the CAM directly to the AC output on the back of the DX 120, which is activated through a solid
state relay.
8.3 Gas Requirements
It is important to turn off the suppressor current when the analytical pump is off; otherwise, the presence of gas flow will
cause a high voltage alarm and in some instances will damage the suppressor device. In order to reduce gas waste, turn
off the gas flow when the system is not operational.
WARNING: Nitrogen, helium or argon gases are recommended for the above application. Compressed air is not
recommended for the above application due to potential contamination. When using in-house
generated gases, suitable traps to remove moisture, hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide and other
particulate matter are recommended.
