WL830PC Wireless Card provides user the flexibility to connect to the Internet in a
wireless environment.

Installing the Driver

For configuring your wirless card, double-click the Client Utility icon and select
under Help > Atheros Client Utility Help.
Follow on screen instructions to configure your wireless card.

Uninstalling the Drivers

iii On your Desktop , Click on the "My Computer" icon.
ii Click "Control Panel".
iii Double click "Add/Remove Programs".
iv Double click "Atheros Wireless Network Adapter and Applications"
v Under the "Atheros Install Program For Wireless Network Adapter Products",
please select "Delete the previous installation".
vi Follow on-screen instruction to uninstall the driver.

For Windows 98 SE Users
Please click cancel at the Start up page (if prompted) after you have
inserted the Installation CD. Please run the file Wmi9x.exe located in the
root directory of the Installation CD before installing the driver. (Eg. D:\
Wmi9x.exe)
iii Insert Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive. If the Installation CD does not start
automatically, please run the Setup.exe program located on the CD-ROM.
ii Click "Next".
iii Select "I accept the terms of the license agreement" and click "Next".
iv Click "Next" to continue with the rest of the installation steps.
For Windows XP Users, you would encounter a screen that says “Software Installation”.
This is normal, just click "Continue Anyway".
v. Click "Finish" to end the Installation wizard.
Insert WL830PC Wireless Card into the PCMCIA slot firmly and evenly. Take care not
to force it into the slot. WL830PC Wireless Card will automatically run its own
installation setup.
For Windows 98 SE Users, skip the file when prompted for .CAT file. Restart the PC
after the driver installation has completed.
The Installation will activate the Client Utility icon in the "system tray" of the Windows
taskbar. You can find the icon at the right-bottom of your screen.
For Windows 98 SE / ME Users
Please locate the file ar52119x.sys found in root directory of the Installation
CD if prompted for missing ar52119x.sys file. (Eg. D:\ ar52119x.sys)

Countries of Operation and Conditions of Use in the European
Community
This device is intended to be operated in all countries of the European
Community. Requirements for indoor vs. outdoor operation, license
requirements and allowed channels of operation apply in some countries as
described in this document.
Note: The user must use the configuration utility provided with this
product to check the current channel of operation and confirm that the
devices operating in conformance with the spectrum usage rules for
Euroean Community countries as described below.
If operation is occurring outside of the allowable channels as indicated in this
guide, then the user must cease operating the product and consult with the local
technical support staff responsible for the wireless network.
This device may be operated indoors or outdoors in all countries of
the European Community using the 2.4GHz band: Channels 1 – 13,
except where noted below:
In Italy the end-user must apply for a license from the national spectrum
authority to operate this device outdoors.
In France outdoor operation is only permitted using the 2.4 – 2.454 GHz
band: Channels 1 – 7.
Radio Frequency Interference Warnings &
Instructions
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B
digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to
provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installa-
tion. This equipment uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not in-
stalled and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interfer-
ence to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference
will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful
interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning

RF Exposure
This device has been tested and complies with FCC RF Exposure (SAR)
limits in typical laptop computer configurations and this device can be used
in desktop or laptop computers with side mounted PCMCIA slots which can
provide 1 cm separation distance from the antenna to the body of the user or
a nearby person. Thin laptop computers may need special attention to main-
tain antenna spacing while operating. This device cannot be used with
handheld PDAs (personal digital assistants). Use in other configurations may
not ensure compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines. This device and
its antenna must not be co-located or operated in conjection with another
antenna or transmitter.
