a Magellan® RoadMate™! Your Magellan RoadMate will
quickly
become your best
companion in
the
car
as
you route to your destinations with ease and confidence. The Magellan RoadMate is designed for
ease of installation while retaining portability. Only three connections are required: power, ground, and
the
external antenna.
No vehicle speed, reverse lights, or any other electrical connection is needed.
We
have provided
this
instruction sheet for the experienced do-it-yourselfer who may wish to install
the
Magellan RoadMate.
HOWEVER, PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION
OF
THE MAGELLAN ROADMATE FIXED MOUNT KIT
BY
AN
AUTHORIZED
MAGELLAN DEALER
IS
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
If
you choose
to
do your own installation,
be
sure to read all
directions
first
then carefully follow them step-by-step.
Before
beginning
please
make
sure

Mounts
will

shipped

need

Device
The location of the Pro.Fit International mounting bracket will determine where the Magellan RoadMate will
be
mounted in
your vehicle. Follow the detailed and thorough installation instructions included with the vehicle specific mounting bracket
(VSM).
If
a
VSM
is not available, your Magellan RoadMate can
be
mounted with
an
UltiMount
by
Pro.Fit International. This
universal
mount
offers many options and will work
with
any vehicle.
Take"
care when mounting the Magellan RoadMate
unit
in
your vehicle
that
it
does not obstruct the driver's view of the road, interfere with the operation of the vehicle's safety devices
such
as
air bags,
shift
levers, etc.
You
assume
the
risks associated with damage to your vehicle or vehicle occupants
as
the
result of your choices in
mounting
the unit. Pro.Fit International customer service can offer assistance in determining
appropriate
mounting
locations.

GPS
Antenna
The external
GPS
antenna comes
with
a cable. Make sure your desired placement
fits
within
this
length of cable. For optimal
results or
if
your vehicle has a coated or heat reflective windshield, the antenna should
be
mounted to
an
outside metal
section of the vehicle such
as
the
trunk
lid (the antenna is magnetized and will
"stick"
to metal) or the roof of the vehicle.
The antenna will pick up signal through glass allowing
it
to also
be
installed inside the vehicle. The front dash or the rear
package deck is acceptable provided the antenna has a wide view through the windshield glass with
little
obstruction from
metal (GPS signals will not travel through metal).
It
may
be
necessary to try the antenna in a few
different
locations
on
the
vehicle to
see
which location provides the best signal.
Installing
the
Components
Pro.Fit
International
VSM
Bracket
Follow the detailed instructions included with your
VSM
(these can also
be
downloaded at www.pro-fit-intl.com). Once
installed, attach the swivel adapter to the
VSM
using the supplied screws. Attach the Magellan RoadMate cradle to the swivel
using the screws provided. The
VSM
(Legend series) has
an
integrated swivel and does not require the Swivel adapter.
If
using the
UltiMount,
no
Swivel adapter is required.
System
Connections
1. Route the
GPS
Antenna Cable to the Magellan RoadMate cradle mounted to the Pro.Fit Bracket. The antenna will
connect directly to the Magellan RoadMate navigation device by carefully removing the hinged plastic
GPS
antenna.
2. Route the power cable from the cradle to where you will connect to the vehicle power supply. Connect the fused red
wire
to
a switched
12-volt
power source
(a
source
that
turns
on
and
off
with the ignition of the vehicle).
3.
Connect
the
black wire to ground.
4. Insert the power connector into the power connection
on
the side of the Magellan RoadMate cradle.
5. Gently and carefully, turn
the
GPS
antenna all the way past the vertical position
on
the Magellan RoadMate device.
Firmly pull the antenna
off
the device. Snap the Magellan RoadMate onto the cradle. Connect the external
GPS
antenna connector to the connector
on
the Magellan RoadMate. Put the plastic
GPS
antenna in a safe place;
you
will
need
it
when using the system
without
the external
GPS
antenna or
if
you use your Magellan RoadMate in another
automobile.
This completes installation of the Magellan Fixed Mount Kit. Begin using
the
Magellan RoadMate
as
outlined in your owner's
manual.

The
Easy
Swivel is a compact and low profile interface swivel device
designed and best used to provide adjustability to devices such as GPS
monitors, cell phones, etc. The
Easy
Swivel adjusts up to 25° from
center in any direction without locking
or
release mechanisms. Attach
the
Easy
Swivel to a
Pro.Fit
VSM®. (It
may
be
desirable to attach the
Easy
Swivel prior to installing the
Pro.Fit
VSM®). With the AMPS-
compatible hole pattern, the
Easy
Swivel is designed to attach to a
Pro.Fit
VSM®
or can
be
attached to other mounting devices such as
clam shells, pedestals
or
flex mounts
Step
1.
Hold·the
Easy
S,~ivel
so that the
Pr.~.Fit
name is up and facing you.
Insert the provided four (4)
8-32xI/4~'
screws through the back side
of
the
Pro.Fit
VSM®
and into the brass inserts on the back side
of
the
Easy
Swivel and tighten.
Step 2.
Attach your electronic device and/or holder to the flat surface
of
the
Easy
Swivel facing you. As each device has different mounting
hardware,
we
recommend
you
use that
which
the equipment
manufacturer provides.
Follow
the directions
provided
by
the
equipment manufacturer.
Step 3.
Refer to the installation instructions
of
the
Pro.Fit
VSM®
or other
mounting devices.
To
complete the proper installation. The
Easy
Swivel is pre-torqued for optimal performance and reliability;
modification
of
the torque setting may void the manufacturer's warranty.
This completes the installation
of
your
Pro.Fit
Easy
Swivel.
