The RS-TIM interface module is used when installing a remote starter on vehicles equipped with a
transponder immobilizer system. Vehicles with a transponder immobilizer systems have a small IC inside
the ignition key head. The ignition switch has an antenna coil that transfers the IC’s identity to the vehicles
decoder when the ignition is inserted and turned on. If an attempt is made to start the vehicle without the
correct IC identity present, the ignition/fuel system will be interrupted for 5 to 10 minutes and the security
light will flash, depending on the vehicle.
You must install a correct coded transponder key permanently into the RS-TIM module. If possible, the
customer should have a spare key made before you begin installation. The key does not have to be cut to
fit the ignition. The RS-TIM module activates upon a remote start signal and sends the hidden key’s
identification to the decoder.
1. Remove the 4 screws and open the RS-TIM Module.
2. Insert
the coded key into the antenna coil with the key blank resting on the foam
3. Reassemble the module and install the screws.
4. Remove trim around the ignition switch and install the small antenna loop around the vehicles
ignition switch.
5. Plug the white 2-pin antenna connector into the white 2-pin of header of RS-TIM module.
6. Plug one orange 2-pin power connector into the orange 2-pin header of RS-TIM module.
7. The orange 2 pin connector will plug into most Carbine and Marksman remote start models that have a
matching orange port. For all other applications, follow the enclosed wiring suggestions.
A. Connect the red wire from the two pin harness to a constant power source (cut off the orange plug).
B. Connect the black wire from the 2 pin harness to the remote starter “ground output when running on
remote start” wire. The correct wire is one that becomes grounded when the remote start system
has been activated to remote start
the vehicle.
8. Secure the RS-TIM module and make sure there are no bindings or interference with any vehicle component.
