Full Gauge Controls Monivolt II Owner's manual

  • Hello! I've analyzed the user manual for the Full Gauge MONIVOLT II voltage protectors, including models 115V and 230V. This manual explains the product's features, such as True-RMS measurement, over/under voltage protection, and adjustable settings. I am ready to answer your questions about the device and its functions.
  • What is the True-RMS measurement method?
What happens if the voltage is out of range?
What is the initial delay upon power up?
What is the minimum difference between the maximum and minimum voltage limit settings?

MONIVOLT II is a single-phase electrical equipment protection device that can be used in industrial
applications as well as in commercial and residential applications. Through the True-RMS
measurement method, MONIVOLT II monitors the voltage, being able to protect single-phase loads
against under-or-over-voltage. In addition, MONIVOLT II has an automatic timer for the protection
of the equipment, in case of electric power variations below or above the set limits, it will wait before
reactivating the output control.
True-RMS: Actual voltage value (real root mean square), including the contribution of high frequency
noise present in the mains power (harmonic distortion). This is the true voltage being applied to the
equipment connected to the mains. This method allows measuring the voltage for any waveform with
greater accuracy, while traditional methods only provide accurate measurements when the waveform is
perfectly sinusoidal.
Control voltage Monivolt II 115V: 85~152Vac
Monivolt II 230V: 174~265Vac
Resolution 1V

4. OPERATIONS
- Initial Delay : Upon power up, MONIVOLT II will wait for the initial delay of three minutes and the
green LED will keep flashingdvdduntil this time has elapsed. If MONIVOLT II detects a voltage
outside the configured range during the initial delay, the red or yellow LED will keep flashing, dddd dddd
indicating that the voltage is above or below the working range, respectively. If the voltage remains out of
range even after the initial delay, the output will remain turned off and the respective LED will turn on
indicating the voltage is outside the configured range. If the voltage is within the configured range when
the initial delay is finished, the output and the green LED will be switched on immediately.dd
4.1 Adjustment ranges: Check the purchased model
4.1.1 MONIVOLT II 115V:
4.1.2 MONIVOLT II 230V:
MONIVOLT II will enter error mode if the value of the settings is reversed, i.e. if a value for the lower
range is set higher than the value set for the upper range. The controller will deactivate the output and
will go into error mode, indicated by the red cccc dddd and yellow LEDs flashing alternately. Only after
the voltage settings have their adjustments corrected MONIVOLT II will exit error mode and
resume the monitoring of the mains.
Note: The controller does not allow the adjusting of a too narrow voltage range in order to avoid that
normal oscillations of the mains disconnected the equipment to be protected. The difference between
the maximum and minimum voltage limit settings must be of at least five volts.
- Out-of-range voltage detection: When an out-of-range voltage is detected, MONIVOLT II will
validate the reading and switch off the output after five seconds (fixed time). At this time, it starts to
count the three-minute delay and the corresponding LED will keep flashing to indicate that the voltage
is below or above the set range. During the three-minute delay, one of the LEDs will keep flashing with
either the green LED to indicate that the voltage is within the range again. the yellow LED to ddd ddd
indicate that the voltage is below the range, or the red LED indicating voltage is above the set ddd
range. If the voltage remains outside the configured range once the delay time has elapsed, the
respective LED will remain on while the voltage is out of range.
As soon as the voltage returns to the working range, MONIVOLT II will revalidate this new voltage
reading and thus activate the load again. Whenever the output is switched off due to the detection of
out-of range voltage, the three-minute delay is always respected. This delay ensures the protection of
equipment such as refrigeration system compressors that require a minimum stoppage time before
starting up after shutdown.
