Desa Tech CO2-22 is a CO2 producer designed to be suspended from overhead supports. It operates on very simple principles and involves four systems: fuel supply, air system, ignition system, and control system.

The fuel supply involves a fuel pump that draws fuel into the unit and forces it through a nozzle into the combustion chamber. An air fan supplies air to the CO2 producer. An electric arc between constantly-firing electrodes ignites the mixture of fuel and air. A simple automatic control system, actuated by a light-sensitive cadmium cell, will shut the CO2 producer off if it fails to light or remains lighted.
