About the Samsung Connect
The Samsung Connect functions as a hub for smart devices in your home. You can connect a
variety of devices in your home to the Samsung Connect. The Samsung Connect allows you
to monitor, control, and manage connected devices via the SmartThings mobile app on your
mobile device and the Samsung Connect.
Before you start
•
When placing the Samsung Connect, keep the following in mind:
Place the Samsung Connect on a flat surface in a central location in your home where
it can connect to the most devices.
Avoid placing the Samsung Connect near TVs.
•
You must have a SmartThings account to sync the Samsung Connect and your mobile
device.
•
The Samsung Connect uses 868.4 MHz Z-wave frequencies. Before purchasing additional
devices to connect to the Samsung Connect, check if their Z-wave frequencies are
compatible with the Samsung Connect.

Connecting the USB power adaptor
Use only Samsung-approved cables. Unapproved cables can damage the Samsung
Connect.

Connect the USB cable to the USB power adaptor, and then plug the end of the USB cable
into the USB power jack.
Connecting the USB power adaptor improperly may cause serious damage to the
Samsung Connect. Any damage caused by misuse is not covered by the warranty.

Plug the USB power adaptor into an electric socket.
The Samsung Connect will turn on.

When you are not using the Samsung Connect, disconnect it from the power supply. First,
unplug the USB power adaptor from the Samsung Connect, and then unplug it from the
electric socket.

If your Samsung Connect is frozen and unresponsive, press and hold the Standby/
Wake key and tap
Restart
to restart it.
•
Only use the USB power adaptor and the USB cable supplied with the Samsung
Connect. If you connect the Samsung Connect to a USB power adaptor or
computer that does not supply at least 2 A, the Samsung Connect may turn off due
to a low power supply.
•
The Samsung Connect will turn off when it is not connected to a USB power
adaptor or when the power supply is interrupted.
•
To save energy, unplug the USB power adaptor when not in use. The USB power
adaptor does not have a power switch, so you must unplug the USB power adaptor
from the electric socket when not in use to avoid wasting power. The USB power
adaptor should remain close to the electric socket and be easily accessible when in
use.
•
Follow all posted warnings and directions from authorised personnel in areas
where the use of wireless devices is restricted, such as aeroplanes and hospitals.
Setting up the Samsung Connect
You must have a SmartThings account to use the Samsung Connect. You should also
download and install the SmartThings mobile app on your mobile device.
The Samsung Connect and your mobile device will be synced via your SmartThings account
so that you can view information on both devices.

Turning the screen on and off
To turn on the screen, tap the screen. Or, press the Standby/Wake key.
To turn off the screen, press the Standby/Wake key. If the Samsung Connect is not used for a
specified period, the screen will automatically turn off.
You can also turn on the screen using a voice command. Say “Hi, Samsung” to turn on the
device. Refer to S Voice for more information.
Touchscreen

Do not allow the touchscreen to come into contact with other electrical devices.
Electrostatic discharges can cause the touchscreen to malfunction.

To avoid damaging the touchscreen, do not tap it with anything sharp or apply
excessive pressure to it with your fingertips.

Setting the screen lock
Prevent others from accessing your Samsung Connect when you are not using it. If you have
enabled the screen lock feature, it will activate when the screen turns off. After activating this
feature, the Samsung Connect requires an unlock code whenever you turn on the screen.

Using the Bluetooth speaker
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard that uses a 2.4 GHz frequency to connect to
various devices over short distances. It can connect and exchange data with other Bluetooth
enabled devices, such as mobile devices, computers, printers, and other digital home
appliances, without connecting via cables.
Notices for using Bluetooth
•
To avoid problems when connecting the Samsung Connect to another device, place the
devices close to each other.
•
Ensure that the Samsung Connect and the other Bluetooth device are within the
Bluetooth connection range (10 m). The distance may vary depending on the
environment the devices are used in.
•
Ensure that there are no obstacles between the Samsung Connect and a connected
device, including human bodies, walls, corners, or fences.
•
Do not touch the Bluetooth antenna of a connected device.
•
Bluetooth uses the same frequency as some industrial, scientific, medical, and low power
products and interference may occur when making connections near these types of
products.

Connecting to another device via Bluetooth
You can set the Samsung Connect as a Bluetooth speaker when you connect your mobile
device to the Samsung Connect.
