Surveillance Cameras

1 Product description
Surveillance cameras are used as additional aid to control the livestock production.
Surveillance cameras can remotely monitor and be controlled from a PC, cell phone, or tablet. They also display
live images (black and white) in the dark using built-in IR light.
High-quality, long-lasting surveillance cameras can cope withthe harsh environment in the livestock houses.
Surveillance cameras are typically used for:
Overview of production
Skilled labor in livestock production is a scarce resource. Surveillance cameras help control a larger number
of farms and houses through remote monitoring of animals and equipment, such as manure belts, feeding
systems, egg belts etc.
Evaluation of the house climate
Surveillance cameras can be used to evaluate the distribution and behavior of the animals, indicating
whether the climate is optimal.
Supervision of the farm personnel
In some regions, supervision of the farm personnel is a normal procedure. For example, do the personnel
stay in the right place at the right time and do what they are supposed to do. Surveillance cameras make
this job easier.
Access control to the farm
Controlling the access of farm personnel, service engineers, veterinarians, feed trucks and others entering
the farm area is important to ensure a high level of biosecurity. Surveillance cameras support access con-
trol.

4 Installation guide
4.1 Electrical connection
Installation, servicing and troubleshooting of all electrical equipment must be carried out by quali-
fied personnel in compliance with the applicable national and international standard EN 60204-1
and any other EU standards that are applicable in Europe.
The installation of a power supply isolator is required for each motor and power supply to facilitate
voltage-free work on the electrical equipment. The power supply isolator is not included.
4.1.1 Bandwidth requirements for the Internet connection
Note that gate 80.554 and 8000 in the firewall must be opened.
If the bandwidth is insufficient, the image quality and live streaming will be uneven.
Examples:
Per stream 4 mbps.
For example, 2 cameras that display simultaneously on 2 devices use 4x2x2 = 16 mbps upload.
Per stream 4 mbps.
For example, 3 cameras that display simultaneously on 1 device use 4x3x1 = 12 mbps upload.
4.1.2 Cabling
The LAN cables between switch and surveillance cameras must be cat5e or cat6 LAN cable.
Max. cable length 100 m for CAT5e and CAT6 cables.
4.1.3 Cable plan
Router
Internet LAN cable max. 100 m

4.1.4 PoE switch
PoE switch is a box that provides both data transmission and power supply to the surveillance cameras and
data transmission to the PC.
PoE switch (is not supplied by SKOV).
SKOV recommends a PoE switch so that each surveillance camera only needs to be connected to one ca-
ble, namely a LAN cable.
The 12 V power supply in the cardboard box for the surveillance camera is not to be used with the PoE
switch.
Place the PoE switch in a protected environment where the PC is also located.
Surveillance camera requires the following PoE switch types to get enough power:
(130491) Small camera 9.2 W, requires minimum:
IEEE802.3af (PoE) class 3 12.95 W
IEEE802.3at (PoE+) class 3 12.95 W
IEEE802.3bt (4PPoE) class 3 12.95 W
(130492) Large camera 18 W, requires minimum:
IEEE802.3at (PoE+) class 4 25.5 W
IEEE802.3bt (4PPoE) class 4 25.5 W
