By purchasing the SilverCrest SWRK 800 B2 clock radio, hereinafter referred

to as the radio, you have opted for a quality product.

Before first using it, familiarize yourself with the way the radio works and read

these operating instructions through carefully. Be careful to follow the safety

instructions and only use the radio as described in the operating instructions

and for the applications given.

Keep these operating instructions in a safe place. If you pass the radio on to

someone else, make sure to give them all the relevant documents with it.

1.1 Read and retain the operating manual

the safe use of the device as well as details on day-to-day use

Important Safeguards

When using electrical devices, basic safety precautions should always be

followed including the following:

1. Read all instructions.

2. To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not put in water or other liquid.

3. Close supervision is necessary when any device is used by or near children.

4. Do not operate any device with a damaged cord or plug or after the device

malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the device to

the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or electrical or

mechanical adjustment.

5. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may

cause fire, electric shock or injury.

6. Do not use device for any purpose other than its intended use.

7. To disconnect the set from the AC power supply, completely withdraw the

AC power cord plug from the wall outlet.

8. For pluggable equipment, the socket-outlet shall be easily accessible.

9. To avoid electrical shock hazard, do not expose this appliance to rain or

moisture.

Display

Do not apply pressure to the display and keep sharp objects away from the

display. There is a risk of injury if the display is broken. Wear gloves when

collecting the broken parts and, if necessary, contact the manufacturer. Be

careful not to leak the liquid from the display if the display is scratched or

damaged.

If any liquid has leaked, observe the following instructions:

• If the liquid touches the skin, wipe it with a clean cloth and rinse with

abundant water. If necessary, seek medical assistance.

• If any liquid gets into the eye, rinse out with plenty of clean water. Contact

a doctor immediately, or seek medical attention.

• If the fluid is ingested, rinse the mouth first with water and then drink plenty

of water. Contact a doctor immediately!

• This device is not intended for use by persons (including children) with

reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and

knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction

concerning use of the product by a person responsible for their safety.

Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the

device. Also, keep the packaging foil away from children. It can cause

suffocation.

• If you see smoke, hear unusual noises or smell odors, unplug the device

from the wall outlet immediately. In these cases, do not use the device

again before it has been checked by an expert. Do not inhale the smoke

from a possible device fire. If you have inhaled the smoke, see a doctor.

Inhaling smoke can damage your health.

• To avoid hazards, do not damage the device.

• Keep the device away from moisture and ensure that no foreign objects

penetrate. Do not place objects filled with liquid, such as vases or drinks,

on or near the device.

• Avoid shocks, dust, heat, and do not expose the device to direct sunlight or

strong artificial light. This could damage the device.

• Make sure that no open fires (for example, burning candles) are placed on

or near the device. There is the danger of fire!

• The housing of the device must not be opened, since there are no user-

serviceable parts inside.

• Be careful not to expose the device to excessive temperature fluctuations,

as this may cause condensation and electrical short circuits. However, if the

device has been exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations, wait

approximately 2 hours before commissioning until the device has reached

the ambient temperature.

Make sure:

 there is free circulation of air (do not place the device on shelves, on a

carpet, on a bed, or anywhere that obstructs the ventilation slots and leave

at least 10 cm clearance on all sides);

 that contact with splash and dripping water and aggressive liquids is

avoided and that the device is not operated near water. the device is never

submerged (do not place any items containing liquids, such as drinks, vases,

etc. on or near the device);

 no foreign bodies can penetrate into the device;

 the device is not used during thunder and lightning storms. During

thunderstorms with lightning, disconnect the power plug from the power

socket.

Cables

• Do not handle the plug of the power cable with wet hands.

• Always grasp all cables by the plug and do not pull on the cord itself.

• Do not place furniture or other heavy objects on cables. Be careful not to

kink them, especially at the plug and sockets.

• Do not route cables over hot or sharp points and edges to avoid damage.

• Never tie a knot in a cable, and do not tie it to other cables.

• All cables must be laid so that nobody can trip over them or be obstructed

by them.

Note on power disconnection

The ON/STANDBY button (12) does not fully disconnect the device from the

power. The device still consumes electricity in standby mode. In order to

disconnect from the power you must unplug it from the wall outlet.

Maintenance

Repairs are required if this device has been damaged in any way, for example

if the device housing is damaged, if liquids or objects have penetrated the

device or if the product has been exposed to rain or moisture. Repairs are also

necessary if the product is not working properly or has been dropped. If you

notice any smoke, unusual noise or strange smells, switch off the device

immediately and pull the plug from the wall outlet. If this occurs, do not

continue to use the device and have it checked out by an expert. All repair

work must be carried out by qualified specialist personnel. Never open the

Cleaning

Disconnect the device from the power. Only use a clean, dry cloth for cleaning.

Never use aggressive liquids. Do not attempt to open the housing of the

device, as this will void your warranty.

2. Intended use

For household use only.

This device is a consumer electronics device. It has been designed to receive

and play back radio stations and to charge mobile devices. The device can

also be used as an alarm clock and NAP timer. It is suitable only for private

use, not for industrial or commercial purposes. The device may not be used

outdoors or in tropical climates. The device fulfills all relevant standards. The

manufacturer is not liable for any damage or problems caused by

unauthorized modifications.

Observe the regulations and laws in the country of use.

Please note that different national regulations may exist in different countries as

to which frequency bands may be received freely. Information received outside

of the granted frequency ranges may not be used or its content or the fact of its

reception passed on to third parties.

Remove the device and all the accessories from the packaging. Remove the

packaging material and check that all parts are complete and undamaged. If

you find anything missing or damaged, please contact the manufacturer.

6. Operating environment

The device is not designed for use in environments with high temperatures or

humidity (e.g. bathrooms) or those with above-average levels of dust.

8. Before you start

Position the device on a stable, flat surface and do not place any heavy objects

on the device. Next, connect the power plug of the power cord (18) to an

easily accessible power socket. The display (1) will read SYNC. The device

automatically sets the correct time on initial start-up and after resetting,

searches for and stores all receivable stations. This process may take a few

minutes.

Note: To start this procedure after resetting, unplug the power plug and

reconnect it after the display has gone out completely.

Due to high-frequency interference and unfavorable reception

conditions, e.g. in heavily shielded buildings, the reception of clock

signals may be restricted or not possible at all. In this case, you can

set the time manually as described in the chapter “Manual time

setting”.

To avoid having to reset the station and alarm time settings after a

power failure, they are stored permanently.

The current time is set automatically when the power supply is

restored.

8.1 Wire antenna

A wire antenna (17) can be found on the rear side of the device. It is wound

up in the as-delivered condition. To improve the reception characteristics of the

radio, unwind it completely.

9. Getting started

9.1 Display lighting

You can adjust the display brightness to your needs in 3 steps. Press the

SNOOZE button (13) as many times as necessary to reach the desired

display brightness.

Press and hold the SNOOZE button (13) for approx. 2 seconds to switch off

the display (1). The display (1) switches on for approx. 10 seconds as soon as

a button has been pressed. Briefly press the SNOOZE button (13), to power

on the display (1) permanently.

9.2 Switching the device on/off

To power the device on, press the button (12) once. After switching on, the

display (1) shows the currently selected frequency for a few seconds. Then the

display changes to the current time.

To power the device off, press the button (12) briefly.

Different indicators are active when the device is switched on or off.

Always:

• Alarm time 1 (29) and alarm time 2 (28) each with set alarm type, if

active.

• During the time display, the PM symbol (20) with activated 12-hour time

mode for the time from 12.00 noon to midnight.

• NAP (24) with enabled NAP timer

Only when switched on:

• In radio mode, the symbol (19) is displayed for the FM band and

additionally “MHZ” (26) as long as the current frequency is displayed.

Only when switched off:

• Current time

9.3 Setting the date and time

9.3.1 Automatic setting via the RBDS signal

The radio alarm clock is equipped with an automatic time display. The date

and time are set automatically after the first connection to the power. The

SYNC indicator on the display (1) indicates that the radio alarm clock is

waiting for the date and time signal. After receiving the signal, the display (1)

shows the current time.

Due to high-frequency interference and unfavorable reception

conditions, e.g. in heavily shielded buildings, the reception of clock

signals may be restricted or not possible at all. In this case, you can

set the time manually as described in the chapter “Manual time

setting”.

9.3.2 Manual time setting

In addition to the automatic setting of the time, it is also possible to set the time

manually. This can be useful if the RBDS signal cannot be received for some

reason:

• In the switched-off state, press and hold the SET/STORE/AMS button (4)

for approx. 2 seconds until the display switches from the current time to

24h. Now, select between 12- and 24-hour mode using the (6) or

(7) button. Press the SET/STORE/AMS button (4) to confirm your

selection.

• The hours start flashing. Press the (6) or (7) button to set the correct

hour. Press the SET/STORE/AMS button (4) to confirm your selection.

• The minutes start flashing. Press the (6) or (7) button to set the

correct minutes. Press the SET/STORE/AMS button (4) to confirm your

selection.

• The day of the week starts flashing. Set the correct day of the week with

the (6) or button (7) according to the following table and confirm

your selection by pressing the SET/STORE/AMS button (4).

Now the setting option for the automatic time synchronization appears.

• The CT-ON indicator is flashing. Use the (6) or (7) buttons to select

between CT-ON to activate automatic time synchronization and CT-OFF

to deactivate it. Press the SET/STORE/AMS button (4) to confirm your

selection.

Now you have the possibility to set a daily recurring period in which the

display brightness is reduced to the lowest level.

• “AUTO DIM” appears at the bottom of the display and “ON” or “OFF”

flashes above it.
