Type
Installation guide
The appliance should be installed by qualified personnel only.
Each step must be carried out and checked in full in the order specified.
Validity
These installation instructions apply to:
016 (DI-SMC12, construction width 120 cm)
General notes
If other firing systems are being used at the same time (e.g. wood, gas, oil or coal-fired heating appliances), safe operation is
only possible providing a room negative pressure of 4 Pa (0.04 mbar) is not exceeded at the location of the appliance. Risk
of toxic fumes! An adequate flow of fresh air must be guaranteed e.g. via non-closable openings in doors or windows and in
combination with an air-intake/exhaust-air wall box or by other technical means.
If the appliance is installed over hobs, each cooking zone must be fitted with an ignition fuse and the minimum distances
(see 'Dimensions') must be adhered to.
Efficient repairs can only be guaranteed if it is possible to uninstall the complete appliance at any time without causing any
damage.
Comfort ventilation appliance
This appliance may only be operated with a suitable comfort ventilation unit made by the company Zehnder Comfosystems.
Other comfort ventilation appliances or external blowers are not equipped with the required safety features.
Suitable comfort ventilation appliances from Zehnder Comfosystems: Comfoair 350, Comfoair 500 (technical modifications reserved).
Always follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions and safety precautions.
Identification plate
Remove the grease filters. The identification plate is located on the inside of the appliance.
Supplied installation accessories
All fixing elements are contained in the scope of delivery.
Electrical connections
Electrical connections must be carried out by trained electricians in accordance with the guidelines and standards for low-
voltage installations and the specifications of the local electricity supply companies.
A plug-in appliance may only be connected to a socket outlet with earthing contact, installed according to specifications. An
all-pole mains isolating device with 3 mm contact opening should be provided in the house wiring system. Switches, plug
and socket devices, circuit breakers and fusible cut-outs which are accessible after installation and which have all-poles
switching are permissible as isolating devices. Effective earthing and separately installed neutral and earth conductors
ensure safe and fault-free operation. After installation, live parts and cables with basic insulation must not be accessible.
Check old installations.
The appliance is designed for use up to a max. altitude of 2000 m above sea level.
See the identification plate for information on the necessary mains voltage, type of current and fuse protection.
When using the insert box of the Zehnder Comfosystems company, follow the accompanying installation instructions.

Installation
1. Affix paper template C to the ceiling – aligning it with the supply air
connection from the Zehnder insert box. Make drill holes for suitable
screw mounting as per the manufacturer’s instructions (see package
leaflet).
2. Fasten the exhaust air hose D (min. ø 160 mm) to the supply air connec-
tion.
3. Adjust carrier supports T1, T2 to adequate length (grid spacing: 10 mm)
and fasten securely with 8 screws S1 (ø 4 × 8 mm).
4. Fix carrier supports to the ceiling with screws S2. Follow the manufactur-
er's instructions for screw mounting (see package leaflet).
5. Fit upper lagging sheets V1, V2 with cage nuts M. Screw both halves
together with the spring F and screw S3 (M4 × 7 mm). Slide from bottom
onto carrier supports.
6. Screw in 4 screws S4 (ø 4 × 8 mm) at the bottom to carrier support T2.
Hang the hood H in the key holes.
7. Remove the grease filters.
8. Tighten screws S4 and additionally secure the hood with 4 screws S5
(ø 4 × 8 mm) from below and with 2 screws S6 (ø 4 × 8 mm) from above.
9. Establish plug connection G.
10. Remove cover E.
Establish electrical connection (see 'Electrical connections').
Refer for this to the installation instructions for the comfort ventilation
system.
Put cover E back.
11. Fasten exhaust air hose D to the exhaust air connection. Ensure hose is
free from kinks and is stretched.
12. Fix upper lagging sheets V1, V2 with 2 screws S7 (ø 3 × 9 mm).
13. Fit lower lagging sheet V4 with cage nuts M and from rear put onto carrier
support T2. Attach lower lagging sheet V3 from the front and screw both
halves together with spring F and screw S3 (M4 × 7 mm).
