minutes to appear on the screen. This is not a fault. The broadcast of

OPERATING INSTRUCTION:
POWER ON/OFF SWITCH
Press the Power Switch, the appliance will be in "STANDBY" mode. A red light shows on
the control panel. Press "PR-/+" buttons to turn on the set. The red light goes out, and
a green light, shows on the control panel.
If there is no TV signal on the screen for five minutes, the TV set switches to STANDBY
automatically. The red light is on.
Pressing the Power Switch again disconnects the set’s power. The light goes out.
STANDBY:
In STANDBY the set takes power to run the remote control circuitry, but the main power
is disconnected. The Red light is on.
1. Pressing any of these buttons will bring the set out of STANDBY and turn it on.
(1) Position Selector PR(-/+) on the remote control or the front panel will recall the
previous setting.
(2) RECALL will recall the previous setting before the set was turned off.
(3) Digital Numbers 0 ~ 9 will switch the set to whichever number is pressed.
2. To put the set into STANDBY press the ( ) button on the Remote Control
unit. This only turns it OFF, it will not turn it ON.
CHANNEL SELECTION:
This set is pretuned to Australian channels 2, 7, 9, 10 & 28 on those numbers. If you
wish to change the settings or add more channels, the method is quite straightforward.

Single-digit Method (highest Program Number is 9)
This allows numbers 0 ~ 9 ONLY and is useful for limiting the number of channels if you
do not mind some channels on the wrong number (10 and 28 could be put on 1 and 0, for
instance).
Press the PAGE UP ( +) button (12) on the remote control until the symbol "-"
appears on the screen This is single digit mode.
The TV set tunes forty numbers and it is possible to put any channel on any number.
There are two ways to choose the channel number you want-the single-number method and
the double-number method.
The Keypad Numbers 0 ~ 9 on the remote control may be used. For numbers over 9, use
the two-digit method or press PR (-/+) below.
Press PR (-/+) on the control panel or the remote control. The Program Number will
increase or decrease from 0 to 39 one at a time, and will be shown in the upper left corner
of the screen.
Two-digit Method
Press the PAGE UP ( +) button (12) so that the symbol "--" appears on the
screen.
Use the Number Keypad. If you want to select channel 28, press button "2" and then
button "8" If you want channel 6, press button "0" and then button "6". The numbers will
be shown in the upper left corner of the screen as shown.
Press PR (-/+) on the control panel or the remote control. The Program Number will in
crease or decrease from 00 to 39 one at a time, and will be shown in the upper left corner
of the screen.
TUNING CHANNELS
Open the door at the front of the set.
Press the SEARCH BUTTON once. The set will scan the television bands to find a TV
station, searching VHF-1, VHF-3 and UHF in order starting from the present channel. If
you want to stop the scan, simply press one of the PR (-/+) buttons.
* Green bars will be shown on the screen, and increase step by step as the set scans.

When the set finds a TV signal, it will stop searching automatically, and show the TV
picture on the screen. The tuning is optimised for strong signals. Weak signals may need fine
tuning for the best result. If you want another channel, press the SEARCH button again.
The station may be fine-tuned with the FT (-/+) buttons for the best picture and sound
if the auto-search result is not satisfactory. Another set of green bars appears in the upper
right corner of the screen, showing the set fine-tuning.
When the station has been tuned correctly, store the results for each channel in the set’s
memory as shown below.

Use this method is you want to store a TV station on a specific number (ie Channel 10 on
Number 10).
After you have tuned the TV station, press the STORE button once.
A Red "STORE -" will be displayed on the screen.
Select a Number to apply to the TV station, using the PR (-/+) buttons to pick the
number. (The number will be shown on the screen next to "STORE").
Press the STORE button again. The "STORE-" on the screen will change from Red to
Green. This shows that the number has been attached to the channel.

PERSONAL PREFERENCE STORE
After you have set the volume, brightness, contrast and colour you may use the following
procedure to store the results. If the adjustments are changed, the "PP" button on the remote
control will instantly restore them. This is very useful if children play with the set.
Press the STORE button; "STORE-" (Red) will be displayed on the screen.
Press the Personal Preference "PP" button once; "PP" will be displayed on the screen.
Press the STORE button again, and the caption on the screen will change from Red to
Green. The current adjustment are now stored in memory.

TELETEXT PAGE NUMBER STORE
(Please read the Teletext section before using this procedure)
The remote control unit has four colour-coded buttons. Each of these may be set to a
specific page number for Teletext. In list mode (Press PR - ), four differently coloured page
numbers are shown at the bottom of the screen. Each of these numbers may be altered and
stored in the TV's memory.
Press one of the coloured buttons on the remote control to determine which number to
change.
Enter the new page number using the number keypad.
Press the STORE button for at least 1 second. The coloured page numbers change to
white, indicating that the number is stored in memory.
All four page numbers will be stored will be stored at the same time. If you want to change
more than one number, repeat the process for each of the colours in turn.
This process has to be repeated for each TV channel sending Teletext.
TUNING & STORING A VCR
The set is provided with Audio/Video sockets that allow direct connection to the VCR, but
the set may also be used with the antenna connection. In this case, the VCR acts as a TV
station.
Connect the VCR and play a tape. The antenna should be connected to the VCR, and the
RF OUT from the VCR should be connected to the TV set. Read your VCR manual if you
are unsure. (The VCR takes the signal off-air from the antenna, and then acts as a TV
station which is fed to the TV set).
Open the door at the front of the TV and press the SEARCH button once. The TV set will
scan the TV bands searching for the VCR signal. This is usually at the bottom end of VHF-
1 or in UHF. Play a tape that you can recognise and ignore normal TV stations and any
weak signals. Press SEARCH again if the set finds a signal, until it finds the one you
want, It should be strong and clear.
Press STORE and attach a convenient number to the VCR channel using the PR -/+
tons. The screen should show "STORE--" in Red with the number attached. Press STORE
again to change the display to Green and make it permanent. Choose a Channel Number
that is easy to remember. You will switch to that number when you want to watch the
VCR.
Hints and Tips:
Some VCR’s have a test signal and the tape is not needed. Some VCR’S have a switch for
two channels, CH1 & CH2. Try them both and pick the clearest signal. It only takes a few
minutes. Check that the VCR channel does not interfere with the other TV channels.
The Audio/Video sockets on the back of the set may be used also.

CLEAR
The CLEAR button allows you to SKIP unwanted numbers so that you can tune 2, 7, 9,
10 without intermediate steps.
The procedure is the same as STORE- just substitute CLEAR for STORE in the
procedure:
Press CLEAR, choose the number, press CLEAR again. The number attached to "CLEAR
-" on the screen is then removed from the program. Another number may be cleared in
the same way.
To get the number back, use the STORE procedure.
THE CONTROL OF PICTURE AND SOUND
Function select
On the Front Panel, the "PICTURE" button is used to select the following functions:
BRIGHTNESS, COLOUR, CONTRAST, BALANCE and VOLUME in that order. Each
of the functions is adjusted by means of the adjacent -/+ level control buttons. The
-/+ control buttons only work while the function is displayed.
On the Remote Control Unit, each function has a separate set of buttons.

Green/Cyan Bar Moves
TELETEXT- a short technical description
This TV set displays Teletext information which includes stock market reports, TAB betting,
weather forecasts, and other useful material.
In Australia, the Teletext service is sent by the Seven Network, although other channels
send subtitles for the hearing impaired with programs marked by (S) in the TV guides. The
guides are not always correct! To get the full Austext service, the set must be tuned to the
Channel 7 Network. If there is no Channel 7 available, check with your local TV station.
The thing to remember about Teletext is that it is slow. It is the nature of the system
itself, where a large amount of information is sent using only a small fraction of the TV signal.
The Teletext picture is built up over many scans, and this makes the system slow and sensitive
to interference. If the TV signal strength is not good or shows interference on the screen, then
Teletext will drop an occasional word or letter. A better antenna is needed in this case, but
most of the time the results are excellent.
Teletext is controlled through the remote control unit. If you get yourself into trouble,
read the "Using Teletext for the First Time" hints and tips section later in the Manual. It may
have your answer.
Display - The remote control has four buttons at the right hand side which control what will
be shown on the screen.
Button (15) puts the Teletext information on the screen.
Button (14) returns the TV display.
Button (17) mixes the two signals one on top of the other.
Button (13) switches to Audio/Video for VCRs and other equipment.
Pages - The Teletext signal is sent in 800 pages, and when the Teletext button (15) is
pushed, the screen will be black with just two numbers - a black white "100" at the upper
left and an echoed black & red "100" at the bottom. This is the number of the main index
page, and it may take the system a few seconds to find it.
If nothing happens after a while, it probably means that the TV station is not sending
Teletext. Check that you are on Channel 7. Press button (14) to TV and switch channels.
(You cannot change channels from inside Teletext).
The required page is simply dialled up by pressing the numbers firmly on the "0 ~ 9"
keypad, one after the other. To call up page 186, press "1" then "8" then "6". The buttons
should be pressed deliberately, as it takes a moment for the push-button to register. The page
number is shown on the screen, together with the actual page being transmitted by the TV
channel, which counts up one page at a time. The pages are grouped in lots of
one hundred.
Speed - It takes approximately 1. 5 seconds to send and display a page. In the worst case, if
the TV station is sending page 250 and page 24 0 is wanted, it will scan all the way up to 299
and back to 200 - and finally 240 before that page is shown on the screen. This would take
two minutes. In most cases it is half this.

Colour Memory - The set is fitted with a four-page memory to speed up operation and make
it more convenient to use. If you are interested in Stock Market Reports or TAB betting,
then the four most used pages would be set on these four colour-coded buttons and be
instantly available. See STORE in an earlier section for the way to do this). There are two
ways to use the buttons:
List Mode The buttons are made available in LIST mode by pressing the (PR--) button
(7) after pushing button (15) to enter Teletext. The character "L" appears at the
bottom left of the screen and the coloured buttons may then be pressed to show the
corresponding page number.
FASTEXT Mode Press (PR--) again to access FASTEXT. In this case, the information
stored is set by the. TV station. (usually the Main index).
The memory of the four colour-coded buttons (24) is continually updated as Teletext
scans through. Pressing any of these buttons makes the information on that page
instantly available (once the system has first scanned through). The information is no
available until Teletext has first scanned through.
Index - The index button (18) gives access to the stored list of page numbers or switches to
the red button if the station is not sending- this ‘information.
Sub pages - Some pages (such as Share Prices) have sub pages. If page 210 is selected
(say) then there may be three sub-pages on that one number. This is shown on the screen as
1/3, 2/3 and 3/3 in a three-page set. They are accessed by waiting until the scan comes
around again (15 to 30 seconds), when the page shown will jump to the next sub-page, or by
using the TIME TEXT button (11) and entering the required sub- page number when
S* * * * is shown on the screen, To enter sub-page 3 enter 0003. This does not speed up the
process. The sub-page can only be seen when the TV station sends it.
To stop the page changing to the sub-page, use the HALT button (22). The locked page is
released by pressing the button again.
Size - For convenience in reading Teletext across the room, the size of the page may be
expanded by the SIZE button (21). first the top half. then the bottom half, and thirdly to
resume the normal size.
Cancel - The CANCEL button (16) allows the TV channel to be watched while waiting for
Teletext to find the required page. When the page is available, a FOUND symbol will be
displayed in the screen.

USING TELETEXT FOR THE FIRST TIME
Using Teletext for the first time can be a bad experience. Follow these hints and tips to gain
confidence. If something unexpected happens, read these tips first. It is very unlikely that the
set is faulty, Your answer may be here.
The most important button on the Remote Control is Button (14) (the blank screen
symbol). This returns the display to TV. If anything goes wrong, push (14) and you go
back to TV with the channel number showing on the screen to tell you where you are.
Then you can try again.
If you push a button that asks the set to do something impossible, it shows a short yellow
dash on the screen.
If you push the Teletext button (15) (the screen symbol with lines) on a station that is not
sending Teletext, you get a black screen with a white number at the top and coloured
numbers at the bottom. This number is usually 100 (the page number of the main index).
Do not worry, It means that the system is working. If this is all you get, it probably means
that the TV station is not sending Teletext.
There is no need to look at a blank screen while you are waiting, Push the MIX button
(17) and watch the TV with Teletext mixed on top. You may want to test if the station is
sending subtitles.
Page 801 is the subtitles page. If you enter "801" on the keypad by pressing "8" then
"0" then "1" in turn; Teletext will search for that page. The number 801 is entered in the
black &white section at the top of the screen and echoed in the black & red number at the
bottom. The other colours are the colour memories. Push the (PR-) button to remove the
colours.
If you press the buttons and the number ends up wrong, do not worry. Just press "8" until
it appears as the first number and try again. The trick to entering numbers is to push the
button slowly. There is no need to push them hard; just slowly. It takes a moment the
register .
If the station is not sending Teletext, the numbers will return to 100. This takes a little
while (20 seconds, say). If you get sick of waiting, press button (14) and go back to
TV.
If the station is sending subtitles, the number "801" will remain and subtitles will appear
on the screen eventually. It may take a minute or so, depending on how many pages are
being sent, This varies with each station.
If you press the Teletext button (15) again, you may see a number alongside the original
black & white number that you entered, counting up one at a time. This means that
Teletext is trying to match your page number, If the three numbers are all the same, then it
means that it has found the subtitle page (801) but that no subtitles are available. This is
bad luck. It depends on the program itself.
If the numbers remain unchanged for a while, forget it. Each station has its own way of
presenting Teletext and this is sometimes confusing. If it dose not happen in a minute or
so, it will never happen. This does not mean that the set is faulty; just that the station is
not sending a Teletext signal. Try again later. If the set is working correctly, it shows a
black screen with the numbers on it. What happens next depends on the TV station.
The exception to this is a weak and noisy TV signal. Teletext needs a good signal to work.
If you have a weak and noisy signal with interference, all you will get is a black screen
with the two numbers. On Channel 7 with the Austext presentation, you may see half a
page with false letters and missing lines. A better antenna is needed. If you are using an

indoor antenna, try moving it around.
You will not be able to change channels unless you exit Teletext first. Press button (14)
first - then change channels.
The Seven Network sends Austext information in 800 pages. The main index for this is
page 100. When a number is keyed in black & white, the coloured Austext number beside
it counts up until it matches-and the page is then shown.
Austext ignores Page 801 unless subtitles are actually being sent. If you key in 801 and the
coloured number beside it does not move for a while, then you know that no subtitles are
available. Push button (14) and try again later. This is annoying, but it is the fault of
the system; not the set.
If Teletext locks on page 801 with no subtitles being sent, key in another page (Page 100
is the main menu). Most pages are sent every 100. Menus are sent more often, and are
quicker.
The Teletext display is adjusted by the Brightness and Contrast up/down buttons (3). The
Teletext display is locked electronically. The Colour buttons have no effect.
The TIME/TEXT button (11) shows a black & white digital clock in, the upper right corner
of the screen when the set is in TV mode. This is a good way to tell if the station is sending
Teletext. A black rectangle usually means a dead channel.
Sub-pages are a nuisance. Share quotes are given in sets of three pages per page, shown on
the page as 1/3, 2/3 or 3/3. The easiest way to change sub-page is simply to wait until it
does it by itself, the next time around.
The other way to select sub-pages is to press the TIME-TEXT button (11) and see "S
* * * *"on the screen. If you want sub-page 3, key in 0003. If you have already
keyed page 210 (say) then the red number at the bottom of the screen will show 210+
0003, and will display sub-page 3 of page 210 when it comes around. This does not make
it happen any sooner, but it will ignore page 210/1 and 210/2 the first and second time
around. If you just enter 3 * * * it does not work.
Teletext is an clumsy system, but it can be very useful and it is well worth the trouble to
learn. Once you know the information you really need, it is a relatively simple matter to put
those pages permanently in the colour memory buttons. Your important information is then
just a button-press away ----- instantly available.

BATTERIES:
1. Remove the battery cover of Remote Control Unit.
2. Insert two "AA" 1.5V batteries making sure the polarity
( + / - ) of the batteries matches the polarity marks
inside the unit.
3. When the Remote Control Unit is not used for a long
time or the batteries are worn out , take out the batteries
to prevent electrolyte leakage.

BUTTON LIST
The trick is to push the buttons slowly; it takes a moment to register. Be careful that the
button does not lock down. Some buttons behave differently in TV and Teletext. The following
list is grouped according to TV or Teletext. If the description of a button is missing in one list,
it will be found in the other.
TV FUNCTIONS
This turns the set off. The red STANDBY light comes on to show that the set is in
Standby. If the set is left unattended for long periods it should be switched off with the
POWER SWITCH.

The "-" button decreases the level and the "+" button increases it.
Press these buttons to change the Channel Numbers up and down one at a time.

Press this button to select the Personal Preference preset values of Volume, Brightness,

Cuts the sound without affecting the picture. To restore sound press it again.
10. SLEEP ( )
This button is for those who fall asleep watching TV. The set switches off after a preset
time. Press the button repeatedly to count up to 120 minutes and back to OFF. The set
will go into STANDBY automatically when the time is up.
This displays a digital clock in the upper right corner of the screen if the TV station is
sending Teletext. If the black rectangle is blank, the station is probably not sending
Teletxet. It is a good way to see if the station is sending Teletext.
12. PAGE UP ( )
Press this button to change from single-digit to double-digit mode.
13. AV ( )
The set is has Audio/Video sockets on the back for connecting VCRs directly. Press this
button to take input from the Audio/Video sockets. If there is no signal the screen will be
blank grey with AV showing in the upper left corner. To return to TV press Button (14)

This button returns all other modes back to TV.
15. TELETEXT ( )
This button activates Teletext and puts the Teletext display on the screen.
17. MIX ( )
This button mixes Teletext and TV pictures. It only works if the Teletext button (15) is
pressed first.

It also shows the Channel Number, the TV Band, and the Sleep timer settings.

20. DIGITAL KEYBOARD
In single-digit mode, press these buttons to select any of 0~9 channels.
In double-digit mode, press these buttons to select any of 00~39 channels.
25. BALANCE LEFT/RIGHT (
Press these two buttons to balance the Sound between left and right. The left button
reduces the volume of the right speaker; the right button reduces the volume of the left
speaker.
26. S. MPX (Stereo switching)
This TV set is fitted with full Stereo/Dual-channel Sound. Depending on what the TV
station is transmitting, the S. MPX button selects between Stereo/Mono, and Dual I
and Dual II channels. This also shows on the screen.

TELETEXT FUNCTIONS
6. BROWSER (PR+)
With the set in Teletext mode (press button 15 first), press this button to select a Teletext
page at random. Whether this function works or not depends on the Teletext system.
Austext seems to ignore it.
7. PR- (LIST or FASTEXT)
In Teletext mode (press button 15 first), press this button to select LIST mode of
FASTEXT mode. (This works with the colour-coded buttons-see below).
In LIST mode, the character "L" is displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen. You
can then select any of the four colour-coded buttons to select the stored page number. (For
information on how to change page numbers, see TELETEXT PAGE NUMBER STORE in
an earlier section).
In FASTEXT mode, the information on the four coloured buttons is set by the TV
station.
11. TIME/TEXT (
This sets the sub-page number in Teletext mode, for those pages which have multiple
subpages. The number is entered using the 0~9 keyboard when the screen shows
S * * * *.
For sub-page 3 of page 210 first enter "2" "1" "0" and then press TIME/TEXT to
show S * * * *. Then enter 0003 to fill in the numbers. The black & red display at the
foot of the page will now show 210 + 0003, indicating that Teletext will search for sub-
page 0003 of page 210 and will not display it on the screen until it finds it. If you enter
just "3" instead of "00003", it does not work.
WARNING: If you enter the sub-page number of a page that does not have a sub-page,
then it never finds it! If you enter "3000" instead of "0003" Teletext will search for
page sub-page 3000, and never find it! Using the TIME/TEXT feature does not help
Teletext find the sub-page any sooner. It still has to wait until the page comes around.
12. PAGE UP/DOWN ( -
These buttons change the page selection one at a time up and down. It is a quicker way
than using the keypad when the page you want is nearby.

15. TELETEXT ( )
This button activates Teletext and puts the Teletext display on the screen.
16. CANCEL (X)
This button is used to return to TV while Teletext is searching for a page. The search
continues in the background, and when the page is found it puts the page number on the
upper left of the TV picture. To view the page, press button (15) to see Teletext, or
button (17) to mix.
17. MIX (
In Teletext mode, use this button to mix Teletext and TV pictures one on top of
the other.
18. INDEX ( )
Press this button to recall the stored list of page numbers if the TV station is sending it.
Otherwise, it switches to the Red colour memory button.
20. "0 ~ 9" DIGITAL KEYBOARD
Use these buttons to select a Teletext page number. To key in page 801, press "8" then
"0" then "1". Press the buttons deliberately. It takes a moment for the number to
register. The secret is to be slow.
21. SIZE ( )
Press the button to expand the top half of the display.
Press again to expand the bottom half of the display.
Press once more to return to normal size.
22. HALT (sub-pages) ( )
When a Teletext page has sub-pages, the screen will change automatically to display the
next sub-page when it comes around. The HALT button freezes the page on screen to
prevent this. To release the page, press the HALT button again.
Sub-pages may be identified by a number such as 2/3 on the page itself. This 2/3 means
that the page on screen is sub-page 2 of a 3 page set.
23. REVEAL (?)
This button reveals hidden words such as quiz pages with hidden answers. The revealed
words disappear automatically in a few seconds. The REVEAL button only works if the
TV station supports quiz pages.

24. RED/GRE/YEL/CYN BUTTONS
These four colour-coded buttons control a memory that allows instant access to selected
page numbers.
The page numbers are chosen using the STORE procedure. To learn how to select page
numbers see under "TELETEXT PAGE NUMBER STORE" earlier in the Manual.

LISTENING TO STEREO/DUAL-CHANNEL TV SOUND
The Model 6738 is fitted with full performance Stereo Theatre Sound where the internal
speakers are ducted to the front of the set for maximum stereo effect. The Model 6738 is
fitted with separate bass and treble controls available on the front panel and these should be
used to give the most enjoyable results tailored to your own taste in sound.
The audio response has been adjusted by the factory to give best results across a range of
movies and studio programs, but there will be some programs where the stereo effect is too
pronounced and may detract from the overall performance. This is particularly noticeable
no some outside broadcasts and movies, where sibilance in speech is heard as lisping or
spitting on 'S' and 'T' sounds. In this case, the set should be switched back to MONO
using the handset) when the lisping sound will be more acceptable. It is a characteristic of
stereo sound that such flaws in the broadcast system are much more audible.
Stereo on a good program adds a new dimension to sound, but it can also be annoying on
a bad movie or on an uncontrolled outside-broadcast. In this case, switch back to MONO
using the handset and the Stereo effect is removed. You have full control over the sound
with the bass and treble controls. Reducing bass and treble will give a better result on both
Stereo and Mono.

CONNECTING A VCR TO THE TV SET
This TV set has AUDIO/VIDEO input and output sockets on the back panel which allow direct
connection to a VCR using the AV Button (13). The direct Video/Audio connection bypasses
the antenna circuitry and allows for better quality recordings and easier operation, but like all
high-technology it gets complicated.
The sockets are grouped in two sets of three, OUT and IN.
The TV set has true Stereo sound, and there are two Audio sockets in each group-L/Mono
and R/Stereo channels-plus one Video socket. Which of these sockets you connect depends on
what you to do with the VCR and what sort of VCR it is. If the VCR is Mono, connect just
the L/Mono Audio lead. The R/Stereo lead is optional for Stereo only.
OUT Sockets
These sockets take the signal OUT of the TV set and feed it TN to the VCR. They are hardly
ever used. Most VCR’s have their own Tuner built in and do not need the TV set to tune
the TV channel for them. The usual setup is to give the VCR the antenna, and feed the TV
set out of the VCR’s RF output. (This loops the antenna signal through and shares it). See
your VCR manual.
The exception to this is if you are dubbing one VCR off another. The connection for this is
shown later.
IN Sockets
These sockets take the signal OUT of the VCR and feed it IN to the TV set. The main confusion in
connecting a VCR to a TV, is that both have a set of sockets, and what is OUT
for one is IN for the other. The VCR OUT sockets go to the TV IN sockets. Think about it
for a moment.
For a full Stereo hookup you will need three leads which can be bought at Tandy or Dick
Smith, and some Video Stores. If the VCR has a SCART socket (which combines all six
sockets in one), then you will need a SCART to RCA set. (The TV set uses RCA sockets).
The various connections are shown in detail below.
Antenna
The VCR can be connected to the TV set through its antenna. For details of this, see the
section "Tuning a VCR" earlier in this manual.

NOTE:
* You can use either RF or Audio/Video input from the VCR, but the quality of picture and
sound is better using the Audio/Video sockets.
* If the VCR has Mono sound, connect it to the L/Mono input socket. The R/Stereo cable is
optional for Stereo and need not be used.
CONNECTION DIAGRAMS
1. VIDEO PLAYBACK/RECORD
This is the usual connection where Audio/Video is taken out of the VCR and is connected
IN to the TV set.
The material being played on the VCR can be viewed on the TV screen by pressing the AV
Button (13).
Pressing the TV Button (14) shows the TV station being tuned by the TV set.
If the VCR is recording (using its own tuner), you can watch what the VCR is recording
by pressing the AV button (13), or what the TV set is getting off-air, by pressing the TV
Button (14). In one case it monitors the Audio/Video from the VCR, and in the other its
own tuner.
It is easy to record one channel and watch another, or switch between without disturbing
the VCR recording. You can even turn off the TV set.
2. RECORDING FROM THE TV
This is useful if the VCR does not have a tuner, or if the quality of the VCR tuner is not
as good as the one in the TV set.
Press the TV (14) to select TV mode and choose a TV channel.
Check you VCR manual for how to record Audio/Video. The VCR has to be switched to
AV. Some VCR's do this automatically. Check your VCR manual.
Start the recorder. The VCR will now record what is on the screen. If you change channels
while recording, then that will be recorded too.

Press AV button on the remote control unit to select AV mode before dubbing, "AV" will be
displayed on the screen. The TV set will act as a monitor to help you edit while dubbing.
NOTE: The set MUST remain in AV mode and MUST NOT be switched off during the session.
3. DUBBING
The figure below shows how to connect TWO VCRs to the TV for dubbing one from the other.

CONNECTING EXTERNAL SPEAKERS
You can connect speakers to the EXTERNAL SPEAKER terminals on the TV set to
enhance sound from the TV.
Note: Before connecting the external speakers, turn off your TV set.
