WATERHEATERSAFETY

Under certain conditions hydrogen gas may be produced in a water heater that has not been

used for two weeks or more. HYDROGEN GAS IS EXPLOSIVE.

If tile hot water has not been used for two weeks or more, prevent tile possibility of damage or

ix_jury b)' tm'ning on all hot water fimcets and allow them to rim for several minutes. Do this

belore using any electrical appliance which is cmmected to the hot water system. This simple

procedm'e will allow any built-u I) hydrogen gas to escape. Since the gas is flammable, do not

This dishwasher must be properly installed and located in accordance with the Installation

Instructions before it is used. If you did not receive an Installation Instructions sheet with your

Close the dislm_Mler door and select the cycle and

desired enhancerrlents. Touch the START/RESETpad to

60 seconds later tile wash action begins.

you don't hme to reprogram each "time. When tile

(lish_M/er door is fidly closed, the control panel

opened.

If you don't want to change any of tile setdngs, simply

If the door is closed the indicaU/r lights will turn

off if the STABY/RESETpadis not selected within t\_o

Tile rluse agent dispenser holds 24.5oz. of rinse agent. Under normal conditions,

this will last approximately one month. T_) to keep it full, but do not oxerfill.

setting is at the midpoint. If there are rings of calcium (hard _ter' spots on dishes,

try a higher setting.

ProperUseof Detergent

['_-]If the door is opened during a cycle and left open,

the dishwasherwill beeponce everyminuteuntil tile

door is closed.

Use only detergent specifically made for use in

dishwashers. Cascade _, Cascade Complete _ and

ElectrasoD Automatic Dishwashing Detergents have

been approved tor use ill all GE dishwashers. Keep

your detergent fi'esh and dry. Don't put detergent

into the dispenser until you're ready to wash dishes.

All _Jsll cycles except RINSE ONLY require detergent.

The amomlt of detergent to rise (tepends on whether

your water is hard or soft.

Protect your dishes and dishwasher b} contacting

your water department and asking how hard your

water is. T\_elve or more grains is extremely hard

water. A water sottener is recommended. Without it,

lime call build up ill the water valve, which could

stick while open and cause flooding. Too much

detergent with soft water can cause a permanent

cloudiness of glass_are, called etching.

The detergent cup has indicator lines to help you.

Use tile right amount of deterg>nt. As a guide:

For Soft _Jmr (wamr hardness <4 (',rains Per Gallon,

GPG), fill cup to the first lille.

For Medim-n _;_ter (4_8 GPG), fill cup to tile

second line.

store the dishwasher detergent in a separate space

Upper Rack

Mthough the upper rack is fin" glasses, cups

glasses fit best ahmg the sides. This is also

Silverware Basket

A \m_iety of options is awfilable regarding

the three-piece silverware basket in w_m"

dishwasher: The complete basket is

designed to fit on the fight side of the

lower rack. Additionall> each end of

the basket is removable to add loading

flexibility to accommodate flatware and

lower rack capacity needs.

To load flatware, simply push the a(!justable

handle to either side. Put flatware in the

basket with knife handles up to promct

u:,m" hands. Place spoons in the basket

with handles down. Mix knives, forks and

spoons so they don't nest together:

an item such as a pot or dish handle

extend through the bottom rack. This

could block the wash am/and Catlse poor

washing results.

Fold-down tines (on some models) provide

flexibili_' fin" extra-large and hard-to-fit

items. The tines may be left in the up

position or folded down to customize the

lower rack.

The provided lids Mth slots can be used

to avoid nesting of silverware. Small plastic

items, such as measuring spoons and

lids fin" small containe_, should go in

the bottom of the silverware basket with

silverware on top.

The lids of both end and middle baskets

can be closed to contain small imms. I,ong

items can be placed on the utility shelf in

the uI)per rack.

Does Your Dishwasher Have

an Air Gap?

An air gap protects your dishwasher

against water backing up into it if a drain

clogs. The air gap is not a part of the

dishwasher. It is not covered by yore"

warranty: Not all i)lmnbing codes require

air gaps, so veil illaV not have ()tie.

The air gap is easy to clean.
