THE PROJECTOR LIFT IS PROVIDED WITH A LARGE AREA ROLLING CABLE TRAY FOR
THE PROJECTOR’S POWER & SIGNAL CABLES. TO INSTALL CABLES, UN-ZIP THE TOP OF
THE CABLE TRAY, REMOVE SSTL BAR CLAMPS AT EACH END OF THE TRAY, AND LAY
CABLES SNUGGLY IN THE TRAY.
NOTE:
THERE IS NO REASON TO CUT CABLES, REMOVE ENDS, ETC. WHEN INSTALLING
CABLES, USE THE UN-ZIP FEATURE OF THE ROLLING TRAY. AFTER CABLES ARE
INSERTED IN THE ROLLING TRAY AND THE ENDS PASS THROUGH THE GROMETTED
PORT ON THE ENCLOSURE WALL. SECURE CABLES BY CLAMPING EACH END WITH THE
SOFT SEAL SSTL BAR CLAMP AT EACH END OF THE TRAY.

INSTALLING PROJECTOR & LIFT IN CEILING
6.1.
FRAMING
ALTHOUGH THE PROJECTOR LIFT IS LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION, WE DO NOT
RECOMMEND THAT IT BE FASTENED INTO THE CEILING BY USING THE BOTTOM
FLANGE.
THE RECOMMENDED MEANS IS TO ‘BOX OUT’ A JOIST FRAME TO RECEIVE THE
PROJECTOR LIFT.
FIGURE 5
BOXED FRAME
INSERT PROJECTOR ENCLOSURE INTO FRAMED BOX.
NOTE:
THE LIMIT SWITCHES ARE ADJUSTABLE FROM OUTSIDE OF THE PROJECTOR
ENCLOSURE, SO WHEN YOU SCOPE THE ORIENTATION OF THE ENCLOSURE IN
THE BOXED CEILING FRAME. YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A HOLE IN
THE FRAME TO REACH LOWER LIMIT SWITCH CAMS FOR ADJUSTMENT OF
STOPPING POINT.

6.2. BASE FLANGE ACCOMMODATION
BEFORE PERMANENTLY MOVING THE PROJECTOR & ENCLOSURE INTO THE
CEILING, YOU MAY NEED TO LOOK AT HOW THE BOTTOM SEAL & BOTTOM
FRAME OF THE ENCLOSURE ARE GOING TO MATCH TO THE CEILING. BECAUSE
THE FRAME IS METAL & HAS A THICKNESS, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO MILL OR
ROUTER THE FACE OF THE CEILING BOX, TO REMOVE ENOUGH WOOD SO THAT
WHEN THE PROJECTOR LIFT ENCLOSURE IS INSTALLED, THE BASE FLANGE AND
THE CEILING PLATE ARE FLUSH WITH THE CEILING SURFACE, OR SUFFICIENTLY
RECESSED SO THAT IF A CEILING FINISH, SUCH AS DRYWALL, OR CEILING TILE,
IS APPLIED, THE RESULTING SURFACES WILL BE CONTIGUOUS.

6.3. INSTALLATION OF PROJECTOR LIFT
TO INSTALL THE LIFT IN THE PREPARED FRAME:
STEP 1: INSERT LIFT THRU HOLE IN CEILING; ADJUST BASE TO PROPER LOCATION
ON BOXED FRAME. FIRMLY HOLD IN PLACE.
STEP 2: USING PROVIDED ALUMINUM 1/8” ANGLES & TEK SELF-TAPING SCREWS,
ATTACH ANGLE BRACKETS TO SIDE OF LIFT, ON EXPOSED SQUARE TUBING
FRAME MEMBERS.

CAUTION
ATTACH MOUNTING BRACKETS ONLY ON SQUARE TUBULAR FRAMES, ANY
OTHER ATTACHMENT POINT CAN RUIN THE LIFT AND INSTANTLY VOIDS
WARRANTY
STEP 3: OPERATE LIFT, TO SEE THAT IT OPERATES SMOOTHLY.
6.4. EXTERNAL JUNCTION BOX & CABLING
EACH PROJECTOR LIFT IS SUPPLIED WITH A 25’ CABLE WITH AMP AIRCRAFT
CONNECTIONS, WHICH PERMITS REMOTE INSTALLATION OF EXTERNAL
JUNCTION BOX AWAY FROM THE CEILING LIFT. THE JUNCTION BOX HAS ON IT A
FUSE, A CONTROL SELECTOR SWITCH AND A PROVISION FOR “AUTO DOWN”, TO
BY-PASS ALL CONTROLLERS & FORCE THE UNIT TO DEPLOY OR COME DOWN
ONCE, IF THE CONTROLLER DOESN’T WORK. WE RECOMMEND THAT THE
JUNCTION BOX BE LOCATED IN AN “EQUIPMENT ROOM/CLOSET” OR OTHER
READILY AVAILABLE LOCATION SHOULD BE USED TO MOUNT THE EXTERNAL
JUNCTION BOX WITH IT’S ATTACHED CONTROLLER.
ACCESS TO THE JUNCTION BOX AND THE CONTROLLER IS IMPORTANT, SHOULD
CONTROLLER REPLACEMENT BE REQUIRED. IF 25’ OF CABLE IS NOT ADEQUATE,
ADDITIONAL CABLE EXTENSIONS ARE AVAILABLE IN 50’ & 100’ LENGTHS,
WHICH CAN BE ADDED TO THE PROVIDED 25’ LENGTH.
