Special Programming Instructions for Use with Mouse Click Software
When used with special Mouse Click software made by P.I. Engineering the
X-keys
X-keys X-keys
X-keys
can
generate mouse button events (clicks). This will work on machines running Windows 95, 98, and
Me. The following special key sequences tell the software that the command is from the

and not the regular keyboard. Start by running the Setup program from the disk. Before
programming, you will need to slow down the keyboard repeat rate within the keyboard
properties found in the control panel.

To Program an X-keys key or foot pedal as the Primary Mouse Button:
1. Switch to program mode.
2. Press the key on the X-keys (or tap the pedal if programming a foot pedal) that will send
primary mouse button clicks.
3. Press and hold the <=> key, tap the <1> key on the alphanumeric section of the standard
keyboard (above the <Q>), and release the <=> key.
4. Press and hold the <Esc> key, tap the <Left-Ctrl> key, and release the <Esc> key.
5. Press and hold the <=> key, tap the <2> key on the alphanumeric section of the standard
keyboard (above the <W>), and release the <=> key.
6. Press the same key (or tap the pedal on the foot pedal) on the X-keys again.
7. Return the program switch to run or continue to program the other keys.
NOTE: To program the secondary mouse button substitute <3> and <4> for the <1> and <2>
keys (steps 3 and 5). To program the third mouse button substitute <5> and <6> for the <1>
and <2> keys (steps 3 and 5).
To Program an X-keys key or foot pedal with a Double-Click:
1. Switch to program mode.
2. Press the key (or tap the pedal if programming a Foot Pedal) on the X-keys that will send the
double-click mouse message. Press and hold the <=> key, tap the <1> key on the
alphanumeric section of the standard keyboard (above the <Q>), and release the <=> key.
3. Press and hold the <=> key, tap the <2> key on the alphanumeric section of the standard
keyboard (above the <W>), and release the <=> key.
4. Press and hold the <=> key, tap the <1> key on the alphanumeric section of the standard
keyboard (above the <Q>), and release the <=> key.
5. Press and hold the <=> key, tap the <2> key on the alphanumeric section of the standard
keyboard (above the <W>), and release the <=> key.
6. Press and hold the <Esc> key, tap the <Left-Ctrl> key, and release the <Esc> key.
8. Press the same key (or tap the foot pedal) on the X-keys again.
7. Return the program switch to run or continue to program the other keys.
To Program an X-keys key or foot pedal with multiple single clicks:
1. Switch to program mode.
2. Press the key (or tap the pedal if programming a Foot Pedal) on the X-keys that will send the
multiple click mouse message. Press and hold the <=> key, tap the <1> key on the
alphanumeric section of the standard keyboard (above the <Q>), and release the <=> key.
3. Press and hold the <=> key, tap the <2> key on the alphanumeric section of the standard
keyboard (above the <W>), and release the <=> key.
4. Continue this process, <=> <1> <=> <2>, for the desired amount of mouse clicks.
5. Press the same key (or tap the foot pedal) on the X-keys again.
6. Return the program switch to run or continue to program the other keys.
