Connect the video source to SDI 1 IN / Composite IN.
If using analog audio, connect the analog audio source to audio inputs R and L.
Using the included Ethernet cable, connect the IncodeX Vier Ethernet port directly to a cable or DSL modem, or to
a 100/1000 switch on your network. NOTE: For optimal performance, use a dedicated, broadband internet business
connection with the IncodeX Vier.
Connect the included power cable into the power cord receptacle on the IncodeX Vier, and plug the other end into
a MAINS AC power source.
NOTE: Use of an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with the IncodeX Vier is strongly
recommended.
Press 1 on the power switch to power on the IncodeX Vier.
• Press and hold the red X button [ ] on the front panel for approximately six (6) seconds until the front panel
display reads SHUTTING DOWN NOW.
• After approximately three (3) seconds, REMOVE POWER WHEN LCD IS OFF will appear on the front panel
display. At this point, all streams will be stopped and the operating system will shut down, indicated by the
dimming of the front panel display. Remove power from the system by pressing 0 on the power switch.

Manual Network Configuration
Follow the steps below to manually congure the
IncodeX Vier’s network settings:
• Press up/down[ ] until you arrive at IP Address.
• Press right [ ] and then enter the default front panel
password of RRRRR by pressing right ve (5) times.
• Use the arrow keys [ ] (right/left to move cursor,
up/down to cycle through digits) to enter the IP address.
Press the green check mark button [ ] to save. NOTE:
Disregard reboot warnings until all network settings have
been entered.
• Repeat the above steps for subnet mask and gateway
network settings.
• Reboot by pressing and holding down the green check
mark button [ ] for approximately six (6) seconds until the
screen displays REBOOTING NOW.
Automatic Network Configuration
Enabling DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol)
will automatically congure the IncodeX Vier with an
IP, subnet mask, and gateway from your network’s
DHCP server, if available. Follow the steps below:
• Press up/down [ ] until you arrive at DHCP.
• Press right [ ] and enter the default front panel
password of RRRRR by pressing right ve (5) times.
• Press up/down [ ] and select ON. Press the green
check mark button [ ] to save.
• Reboot by pressing and holding down the green check
mark button [ ] for approximately six (6) seconds until
the screen displays REBOOTING NOW.

To configure the IncodeX Vier in accordance with your network requirements, choose either manual or
automatic network configuration based on the instructions below.

Logging In to the IncodeX Vier
• Open a web browser and enter the IncodeX Vier’s IP address into the address bar, then press Enter on the keyboard.
• Enter admin in the username eld and the last six characters of the MAC address (excluding colons), found on the IncodeX Vier’s front panel display, for the default password.
System
• Time Zone Settings — Choose the desired time zone and click Save Time to save your selection.
• Change User Interface Password — Enter the default password, and then enter a new password for the admin user twice; click Save New Password to save. Click the browser’s refresh
button to re-login.
• Change Front Panel Password — Click any of the four arrow buttons [ ] ve (5) times in any combination and click Save New Password.
• Auto Refresh — Enabling this option will automatically refresh stream status, transfer queue, and hard drive space among other
components. The auto refresh rate slows while inactive and eventually stops altogether until further activity is detected.

• Under File Name, enter up to 36 characters before the extension (no spaces) for the le’s name.
• Enable Auto Transfer to automatically upload video-on-demand (VOD) les to VieBit, scheduled broadcast les to a LEIGHTRONIX video server, or les to a user-specied FTP
server while recording. NOTE: Alternatively, use the File Manager page to manually upload VOD or scheduled broadcast les to VieBit or a user-specied FTP server.
• Click Test FTP Settings to verify connectivity between the IncodeX Vier and a LEIGHTRONIX video server, VieBit servers, or a user-specied FTP server.
• Enable Auto Delete to delete local les after a successful transfer.
• Use the Timer Action function to either stop the recording or restart a live stream/point-to-point broadcast (without VOD/scheduled broadcast le creation) at the end of a user-specied period of time.
• Adjust the File Overwrite settings to specify what les (if any) will be overwritten as well as the naming scheme to be used.

Video Encoder Settings
• After settings have been congured, start, stop, or restart any process by selecting the desired output method and clicking the corresponding action button.
• In either of the Settings menus under the Dashboard tab, select the appropriate
audio and video input type.
