This Quick Guide describes how to transit the conguraon from an X-gateway to a new generaon Communicator.

Anybus Conguraon Manager - X-gateway
Use the soware applicaon Anybus Conguraon Manager - X-gateway to congure the classic Anybus
Communicator and the Anybus X-gateway.
HMS IPcong
Use the soware applicaon HMS IPcong and scan your network to discover and change the Communicator IP
address and to access the Communicator built-in web interface.
NOTE
As an alternave, you can set a stac IP address within the same IP address range as the Communicator
IP address on the computer accessing the Communicator built-in web interface.
NOTE
HMS IPcong is only available for Windows.

Communicator Built-In Web Interface Overview
Use the Communicator built-in web interface to congure, maintain and troubleshoot the Communicator.

Menu item Descripon
Home View the Communicator, network, and node status.
Apply Aer conguraon changes are made and veried, press Apply to make the sengs take eect.
Conguraon, upper network page Congure network sengs.
Conguraon, lower network page Congure network sengs.
I/O conguraon Congure input and output data sizes and endian conversion.
Files & rmware Save sengs in a conguraon les, upload conguraon les and upgrade rmware.
Diagnoscs Monitor and troubleshoot the Communicator.
Support Contains Communicator product informaon, Anybus contact informaon, link to Anybus support
website, and product le for download.
Here you can generate a support package with product informaon, to send to your Anybus support
technician.

Transit the X-gateway Conguraon
Before You Begin
The X-gateway is congured via the soware applicaon Anybus Conguraon Manager X-gateway.
The Communicator is congured via a built-in web interface.
To transit from an X-gateway to a Communicator, you need to:
1. Overview the exisng conguraon sengs in the Anybus Conguraon Manager X-gateway.
2. Redo the conguraon in the Communicator built-in web interface.

Find the Communicator on Your PC
The Communicator default IP address is 192.168.0.10.
To be able to access the Communicator built-in web interface you may need to adjust the IP sengs, choose one of
the following methods:
Opon 1 | Set a stac IP address on the PC
On the PC accessing the Communicator built-in web interface, set a stac IP address
within the same IP address range as the Communicator IP address.
To access the Communicator built-in web interface, ensure that port Port 80 TCP is open
in your PC Windows Firewall.
Note that when you change to a stac IP address on your PC, internet access is lost.
Opon 2 | Change the IP address on the Communicator conguraon port
Use the soware applicaon HMS IPcong to nd and change the IP address on the
Communicator conguraon port, to one within the same IP address range as the PC
accessing the Communicator built-in web interface.
To download the installaon les, please visit www.anybus.com/support and enter the
product arcle number to search for the Communicator support web page. You nd the
product arcle number on the product cover.

Access the Communicator Built-In Web Interface
1. Connect the Communicator to your PC and to power.

2. Open a web browser and enter the Communicator IP address in the Address bar.
The Communicator default IP address is 192.168.0.10.
The Communicator built-in web interface Home page appears.

Access the X-gateway Conguraon in the Conguraon Manager
1. Connect the X-gateway conguraon port to your PC and to power.
2. Start the Anybus Conguraon Manager - X-gateway.
3. In the main menu, click Connect.
The conguraon manager searches for the X-gateway.
4. Upload the excising X-gateway conguraon or open a saved conguraon.
5. In the Project menu, select the upper network interface.
View the conguraon sengs to be used in the new Communicator.
Example 1. In this example we use an PROFINET IO - EtherNet/IP X-gateway.

Upper Network Page Sengs
NOTE
The IP sengs vary depending on the network protocol type.

In the Communicator built-in web interface:
1. Navigate to the Conguraon menu and select the upper network page.
NOTE
For some X-gateway variants, the upper network corresponds to the lower network for the
Communicator.
2. Congure the IP Sengs according to the sengs in the Anybus Conguraon Manager - X-gateway
conguraon.
3. Opon for PROFINET: In PROFINET sengs, enter the PROFINET Staon Name.
4. Download the conguraon le to your computer for use in your PLC programming tool.
Depending on the network protocol, one of the following le formats is available for download: GSDML, GSD,
EDS, or ESI.

Lower Network Page Sengs
Connue to congure the second network.
1. In the Anybus Conguraon Manager - X-gateway Project menu:
Select the lower network interface.
View the conguraon sengs to be used in the new Communicator.

2. In the Communicator built-in web interface:
Navigate to the Conguraon menu and select the lower network page.
NOTE
For some X-gateway variants, the lower network corresponds to the upper network for the
Communicator.

3. Congure the IP sengs and Connecon sengs according to the sengs in the Anybus Conguraon
Manager - X-gateway conguraon.
4. Download the conguraon le to your computer for use in your PLC programming tool.

EDS, or ESI.

I/O Conguraon
Connue with the I/O conguraon.
In this example we use an PROFINET to EtherNet/IP .

1. On the I/O conguraon page, enter the same I/O sizes, for the Upper and Lower network, as in the old
X-gateway conguraon.
2. If applicable, enable Endian swapping in either direcon.
Set a swapping type to use for the enre area or use Detailed swap to set dierent types of swapping for
dierent parts of the I/O area.
