Electrical Connection
The electrical supply for the cooktop must be 240
Volt 50 Hz.
The fuse and electrical wiring of the home/
premises must support the load of the appliance.
The appliance must be earthed.
(New Zealand statutory warning): The cooker
must be connected to the electricity supply by a
cable fitted with an appropriately rated plug that
is compatible with the socket-outlet fitted to the
final subcircuit in the fixed wiring that is intended
to supply this cooker.
The appliance must be connected to the mains by
means of a double pole switch with a minimum
contact opening of 3 mm. The yellow-green earth
wire must not be interrupted by the switch
IMPORTANT If a power socket needs to be
installed or relocated, the work must be done by a
licensed electrician.
Mounting A Power Supply Cable
Open the terminal board by inserting a screwdriver
into the side tabs of the cover. Use the screwdriver
as a lever to open the cover (see diagram).
Loosen the cable clamp screw and remove it.
(see figure).
Remove the wire contact screws L-N-
, then
fasten the wires under the screw heads, respecting
the colour code: Black/Blue (N), Red/Brown (L) and
Bare Wire/Yellow-Green.
Once the connections have been made, tighten all
the terminal screws fully.
Fasten the supply cable in place with the clamp and
close the cover of the terminal board.
The supply cable should be positioned so that it is
not subject to direct heat and so that it does not
reach a temperature of more than 50°C higher than
room temperature, along its length. If there is a risk
that the cable will come into contact with parts
having such a temperature rise, then fixed wiring
insulation must be protected using an insulating
sleeve of an appropriate temperature rating.
Before making the connection, check that the home
electrical system can support the appliance load
(see data plate).
NB: Never use reducers, adaptors or shunts since
they can cause heating or burning.
The socket or circuit-breaker must be easily
accessible once the cooker has been installed. The
power cable must not be bent or compressed.
Gas Connection
This appliance is suitable for use with either a
flexible connection or rigid copper connection.
Check The Gas Type
WARNING: Before installation, check that the gas
type and gas pressure (natural gas or LPG/
Propane) of the cooker are suitable for the gas
available to the installation. It is extremely
dangerous to use the wrong gas type or pressure
with any appliance, as fire or serious injury can
result. This cooker is supplied from the factory
already set for Natural Gas. To convert the cooker to
LPG (or back to Natural Gas from LPG), follow the
directions later in this section.
Fit regulator supplied for Natural Gas (if
applicable) at rear of appliance, and as close as
practicable to the appliance.
It is recommended that an isolating valve and
union be fitted, to enable simple disconnection for
servicing. These are to be in an accessible
location.
Flexible Hose
When the cooker is installed between cabinets
(recessed), the gas connection must be effected by
an approved flexible hose with bayonet fitting. The
gas inlet for the cookers is a threaded G 1/2 gas
female fitting
Where a flexible hose is used, it should be as short
as possible with a maximum length of 1.5 metres;
The flexible connection must be approved to
class B or D of AS/NZS1869 as a minimum.
it should not be bent, kinked or compressed;
it should not be in contact with the rear wall of the
appliance or in any case with parts which may
reach a temperature of 50°C;
it should not come into contact with pointed parts
or sharp corners;
it should not be subject to any pulling or twisting
forces;
it should be easy to inspect along its entire length
in order to be able to check its condition.
The supply connection point must be accessible
with the appliance installed.
The inner diameters of the pipe are as follows:
8 mm for LPG;
13 mm for Natural Gas.

Duplicate Data Plate
Where the data plate is obscured by cabinetry when
the cooker is in the installed position, place a
duplicate data plate on a surface of the cabinetry
adjacent to the cooker.
The manufacturer declines any liability should these
instructions and safety directions not be observed.
Gas Type Conversion
If the hob is to be converted for use with a type of
gas other than that for which it was set in the factory
(indicated on the data plate), the burner injectors
must be replaced as follows:
Remove the pan supports and the burners.
Unscrew the injectors using a 7 mm socket
wrench, and replace them with injectors of
suitable orifice diameter, as indicated on the
appliance data plate.
Reassemble the parts.
If a regulator is required for the new gas type,
instal an approved regulator of appropriate
pressure setting and flow capacity.
Replace the gas type label with one suitable for
the new gas type.
Check the turn down setting of each burner (next
section) and adjust where necessary.
Perform the post installation checks as described
later in this manual.
Adjust turn down setting
Put the tap to the low flame position;
Remove the tap knob and turn the adjusting
screw, situated inside the tap stem using a flat
blade screwdriver (loosening the screw increases
the height of the flame, tightening decreases it).
Note: the adjusting screw must be fully screwed
down for LPG.
Having obtained the low flame setting required
and with the burner lit, abruptly change the
position of the knob several times from minimum
to maximum and vice versa and check that the
flame does not go out.
Post Installation Checks
Perform post installation checks and ensure
proper and safe operation before leaving. Test all
burners individually and in combination.
Leak Check
Ensure all gas control knobs are in the Off
position.
Ensure the gas supply is switched on.
Spray a solution of soapy water onto all gas joints
as well as the full length of any flexible hoses.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES USE A NAKED
FLAME IN CHECKING FOR LEAKS.
If bubbles appear anywhere, turn the gas supply off,
check all connections and retest.
If satisfactory operation cannot be achieved, contact
place of purchase or their appointed agent for
service.
Flame check
Turn each burner on, and ensure that the flame is
blue with minimal yellow tipping. If there is
significant yellow tipping, flame lift off or excessive
noise, check pressure and adjust at the regulator if
necessary.
If satisfactory operation cannot be achieved, contact
place of purchase or their appointed agent for
service.
Igniter operation
Check that the igniter for each burner successfully
ignites the gas.
If an igniter fails to work, first remove the plug from
the electrical power outlet, and then check that all
the electrical connections are in place.
If satisfactory operation cannot be achieved, contact
place of purchase or their appointed agent for
service.

Using The Cooktop
Controlling the burners
Each control knob is marked to indicate which
burner it controls. Each control knob also has
markings to indicate the three main settings:
OFF
- High
+ Low
Lighting the burners
Each burner is fitted with a spark ignitor for lighting
the gas. For added safety, each burner is equipped
with a safety probe that prevents the gas from
flowing unless there is a flame. To ignite a burner,
press and turn the control knob anti-clockwise until
the knob points to High. Keep pressing the knob
inwards until the probe heats up. Release the knob.
Check that the gas has been lit. If the burner fails to
ignite try again. If the burner fails to ignite after 3
attempts, wait a few minutes for the gas to disperse
before making any further attempts.
If the burner still fails to ignite, a match or lighting
device can be used, but care must be taken. If the
problem persists, contact place of purchase or their
appointed agent for service.
Controlling the flame height
Any flame height can be achieved between High
and Low by rotating the control knob between the
two positions: Avoid operating the burner with the
control knob set between Off () and High (-).
If a flame is accidentally extinguished, turn off the
control knob and wait for at least 1 minute before
relighting.
Double Crown Double Ring Burner
Double ring burners have two independent gas rings
controlled by the one control knob. Turning the knob
anticlockwise from the Off position controls the
smaller inner ring only.
To switch on the outer ring, keep turning the knob
anticlockwise past the 6 O'Clock position.
The outer ring will ignite as well, and both rings will
be on High - Continue to rotate the knob until both
rings are operating on Low +.
To turn off the burner
To switch off the burner, turn the knob in a clockwise
direction until it reaches the 0ff position.
Lighting the burners for the first time
If the appliance is being used for the first time, or if
it has not been used for a long period of time, it may
be necessary to purge the gas lines of excess air
before you can successfully light the burners.
To do this, turn each burner to high for 10-15
seconds and press the ignition button several times.
If the burner does not light, repeat this procedure
twice more. Wait 1-2 minutes for any gas build up to
disperse before allowing any further gas flow.
Cookware
Use appropriate cookware for each burner.
Always use a vessel for cooking that is
appropriate in size for the size of burner. Ensure
the flames do not extend beyond the bottom of
the pot.
Burner ø Cookware Diameter (cm)
Rapid 24 - 26
Semi-Rapid 16 - 22
Auxilliary 10 - 14
Double flame (internal only) 10 -14
Double flame (external) 26 - 28
Never use pots that are too small or too large. For
wok cooking it is recommended that a domestic
size wok, no larger than 400 mm in diameter be
used.
Always use cookware with a flat base. Do not use
pans which are unstable or which have a warped
or damaged base.
Ensure the pot sits securely on the trivet and is
centred above the burner.
Ensure handles are kept away from the edge of
the cooktop and cannot become heated by other
burners or pans.
AUS
11
Small pots can be used on the inner ring of the
double crown double ring burner.
Reduction grids
Some models are equipped with a reduction grid to
allow you to use cookware of diameter less than
12cm. This should be used only on the auxiliary
burner.

Using The Ovens
Practical Cooking Tips
A temperature value can be set for all cooking
modes between 60°C and Max, except for the
following:
GRILL: recommended: set only to Max power level.
GRATIN: recommended: do not exceed 200°C.
Do not place racks in positions 1 or 5 during fan
assisted cooking. Excessive direct heat can burn
temperature sensitive foods.
Cooking On Multiple Levels
Use positions 2 and 4, placing the food that requires
more heat in position 2.
Place the dripping pan on the bottom and the rack
on top.
Grill
When using the grill cooking mode, place the rack in
position 5, and the dripping pan in position 1 to
collect cooking residue.
When using gratin mode, place the rack in position 2
or 3 and the drip pan in position 1.
We recommend that the power level is set to
maximum when grilling. The top element is regulated
by a thermostat and may not always operate
continuously.
The Grill and GRATIN cooking modes must be used
with the oven door shut.
Pizza Mode
Use a light aluminium pizza pan. Place it on the rack
provided. For a crispy crust, do not use the dripping
pan as it prevents the crust from forming by
extending the cooking time.
If the pizza has a lot of topping, we recommend
adding mozzarella cheese on top half way through
the cooking process.
Safety Requirements For Deep Fat Frying
Never fill chip pans more than one third full with oil
or fat.
Never leave oil or fat unattended during the
heating or cooling period.
Never heat fat or fry with a lid on the pan.
Always dry food thoroughly before frying, and
lower it slowly into the hot oil or fat. Frozen foods
in particular will cause frothing and spitting if
added too quickly.
Always keep the outside of the pan clean and free
from streaks of oil or fat.
How To
Deal With A Fat Fire
Do not move the pan.
Turn off the hotplate burners.
Smother the flames with a fire blanket or damp
cloth to extinguish the fire. Do not use water or a
fire extinguisher as the force of it may spread the
burning fat or oil over the edge of the pan.
Leave the pan for at least 60 minutes before
moving it.

The Cooking Modes in your
Cooker (1st OVEN)
Your new cooker is equipped with a number of
different cooking modes:
Fan Oven
- the fan oven operates by constantly blowing
heated air, from an element wrapped around the fan,
into the oven. This gives improved efficiency and in
general, enables the use of lower temperatures for
cooking. It also means that there is less need to be
particular about shelf positions and that you can
bake at more than one level simultaneously (Batch
Baking).
Traditional
- the upper and rear heating elements are switched
on in this position. The traditional oven brings an
outstanding level of temperature distribution and
reduced consumption. In traditional cooking use
only one rack to ensure good heat distribution. By
using the various shelf positions available you can
balance the quantity of heat between the upper and
lower part. If cooking requires more heat from below
or above, use the lower or higher shelves
respectively.
Grill
- the oven can also be used for conventional grilling.
Note: the door should be close when grilling.
Roast Meat
- specially created for cooking joints of meat. This
mode raises the temperature in the oven to a very
high heat for the first part of the cooking cycle, to
seal the outside of the joint and retain the juices of
the meat throughout cooking. After this the
temperature is reduced to the set temperature using
each heating element in turn to guarantee a
homogeneous temperature for the cooking period. A
temperature is suggested on this mode but this can
be altered using the +/- control knob.
Roast Chicken
- specially created for cooking excellent roast
poultry. This mode can be used to roast chickens,
duck, turkey and other poultry to perfection. Each
heating element is used in the cycle to guarantee a
homogeneous temperature within the oven. A
temperature is suggested on this mode but this can
be altered using the +/- control knob.
Fish
- this mode provides gently pulsing top and rear
heat to lightly poach fish dishes without overcooking
or drying out. A temperature is suggested on this
mode but this can be altered using the +/- control
knob.
Bread cycle - Auto
- this mode is fully automatic and lasts for 1 hour.
When this mode is selected the time and
temperature cannot be adjusted. It is suitable for
baking bread weighing up to 1.5kg, either in a tin or
on a baking tray. This mode includes a proving
cycle and a baking cycle. If an initial proving cycle
is needed this can be done using the RISE mode
(8). Some recipe ideas are included in the recipe
book supplied with the cooker.
Cake cycle - Auto
- this mode is fully automatic and lasts for 1 hour.
When this mode is selected the time and
temperature cannot be adjusted. it is suitable for
baking sponge based cakes that take between 30
minutes and 1 hour to cook. Some recipe ideas are
included in the recipe book supplied with the cooker.
Rising
- this mode heats and holds the oven at 40°C. It is
ideal for proving bread and yeast based dough
mixtures. When this mode is selected a cooking
duration of 14 minutes is automatically set, this can
be altered by pressing the time/mode button until
the cooking duration icon flashes. Then use the +/-
control knob to adjust the cooking duration.
14
AUS
The Cooking Modes in your
Cooker (2nd OVEN)
NOTE: A temperature value can be set for all
cooking modes between 50°C and Max, except for
the following modes.
MAXI-GRILL / MINI-GRILL (recommended: set
only to MAX power level)
Starting the oven
1. Select the desired cooking mode by turning the
SELECTOR knob.
2. Select the recommended temperature for the
cooking mode or the desired temperature by
turning the THERMOSTAT knob.
A list detailing cooking modes and suggested
cooking temperatures can be found in the relevant
table.
During cooking it is always possible to:
Change the cooking mode by turning the
SELECTOR knob.
Change the temperature by turning the
THERMOSTAT knob.
Set the total cooking time and the cooking end
time (see below).
Stop cooking by turning the SELECTOR knob to
the 0 position.
NOTE: Never put objects directly on the bottom of
the oven; this will avoid the enamel coating being
damaged. Only use position 1 in the oven when
cooking with the rotisserie spit.
NOTE: Always place cookware on the rack(s)
provided.
THERMOSTAT indicator light
When this is illuminated, the oven is generating
heat. It switches off when the inside of the oven
reaches the selected temperature. At this point the
light illuminates and switches off alternately,
indicating that the thermostat is working and is
maintaining the temperature at a constant level.
Oven light
This is switched on by turning the SELECTOR knob
to any position other than 0. It remains lit as long
as the oven is operating.
TRADITIONAL OVEN mode
Both the top and bottom heating elements will come
on. When using this traditional cooking mode, it is
best to use one cooking rack only. If more than one
rack is used, the heat will be distributed in an
uneven manner.
PASTRY Mode
The bottom heating element comes on.
This mode is ideal for baking and cooking delicate
foods - especially cakes that need to rise because
the heat coming from the bottom helps the leavening
process.
Please note that it takes a considerable amount of
time for the higher temperatures to be reached,
therefore we recommend you use the Convection
Mode in these cases.
MINI GRILL
The top central heating element comes on.
The extremely high and direct temperature of the
grill makes it possible to brown the surface of meats
and roasts while locking in the juices to keep them
tender. The grill is also highly recommended for
dishes that require a high temperature on the
surface: beef steaks, veal, rib steak, filets,
hamburgers etc...
MAXI GRILL
The top heating element comes on.
This mode can be used to brown food at the end of
cooking.
GRILLING MUST BE DONE WITH THE GRILL
DOOR SHUT.
CONTROL KNOBS MAY BECOME HOT DURING
GRILLING.
CAUTION: ACCESSIBLE PARTS WILL BECOME
HOT WHEN THE G
RILL IS USED - CHILDREN
SHOULD BE KEPT AWAY.

time and temperature.
- To ensure food does not cool down and require
reheating, set the end time so the food is ready
when you require it.
- Always ensure that meat and poultry is defrosted
before placing in the oven.
- Whenever possible, take food out of the
refrigerator and keep it as cool as possible.
- If cooking food that requires frying before placing
in the oven for automatic cooking, keep the delay
time to a minimum.
- Never place hot or warm food in the oven for
delayed start cooking as it could cause the oven
to be warm and produce harmful bacteria in the
food.
- We advise that dishes containing left-over cooked
poultry and meat, eg. shepherds pie, should not
be cooked automatically if there is to be a delay
period.
- Ensure that delay start times are kept to a
minimum to prevent bacterial growth in food.
- Wine or beer may ferment and cream may curdle
during the delay period, so it is best to add these
ingredients just before serving.
- Foods which discolour should be protected by
coating in fat or tossing in water to which lemon
juice has been added, prior to placing food in the
oven.
- Dishes containing liquid should not be filled too
full to prevent boiling over.
- Food should be well sealed (but not airtight) in a
container to prevent the loss of liquid during
cooking. Aluminium foil gives a good seal.
- Always ensure that food is piping hot and cooked
thoroughly before serving.
- Only reheat food once.
