Safety
Never carry out measurements on non-insulated wires with a
potential of over 600 V in relation to earth.
Never open the case on the ammeter clip before having first disconnected it from
any source of electricity.
Do not use the 711P.500 clip outside.

Connection
• Insert the red safety plug into the «
+
» terminal on the 711 multimeter.
• Insert the black safety plug into the «COM» terminal on the multimeter.
• Turn the selector on the multimeter to «V», the voltmeter position.
• Slide the button on the 711P.500 clip to «1 m V/A» ; if the green indicator
light marked ON is constant the battery is fine, if it flashes the battery is too low.
Setting
• Alternating current
~
: direct readover
(1 mV = 1 A)
.
• Direct current: press the /
~
button on the 711 until the « » symbol is
displayed.
• Use the «sunken» grey button on the 711P.500 clip to set to 000.0 mV on
the multimeter display.
Use
Place the ammeter clip jaws around the wire to be checked, the arrow on the
jaws showing the standard current direction.
Alternating current «
~
»: when the current passes through the wire, read the
direct value on the 711 multimeter display. To check an alternating current, the
«
~
» sign has to be displayed on the screen with the « /
~
» button.
Direct current « »: when the current passes through the wire, follow the
standard current direction. To check a direct current, the « » sign has to be
displayed on the screen with the « /
~
» button.
Read the actual current on the multimeter screen passing through the wire being
tested
(1mV=1A)
. When the «-» sign appears in front of the value displayed, the
direction of the current passing through the test wire does not match the indicator
arrow on the clip, so reverse it. With the 711 multimeter, you can store the
minimum or maximum current value on the display with the MIN/MAX button.

Measuring alternating current
For example : Current consumption of electrical appliances (industrial motors,
radiators, dishwashers etc.)
Measuring direct current
For example : Alternator output, current consumption of a starter, pre-heating
plugs, accessories etc.
Changing the battery
Slide the button on the ammeter clip to OFF. On the back of the unit, slacken
the captive screw, take the lid off and replace the 9 volt battery
(6LR61 or 6LF22 or
NEDA 1604)
. Put the lid back on before using your clip again.
