the battery charger and the battery on a flammable surface (e.g. carpet).
Always use a suitable, non-flammable, heatproof surface.
Ensure that there is sufficient ventilation during operation. Never cover the
battery charger and/or the connected battery. Leave enough distance (at
least 20cm) between the charger, the battery and other objects.
Never operate the device immediately after it has been taken from a cold
room to a warm room. Under certain circumstances the resulting
condensation may lead to malfunctions or damage! Allow the charger (and
the battery/batteries) to reach room temperature before connecting the
charger to the power supply and using it. This may take several hours!
Services, adjustments and repairs may only be carried out by a specialist/
specialist workshop. The device contains no parts that require servicing or

Handle the product with care - hits, knocks or falls from even a low height
can damage the product.
Avoid operation near strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields, transmitter
aerials or HF generators. This can affect the control electronics.
If you have reason to believe that the device can no longer be operated
safely, disconnect it immediately and make sure it is not unintentionally
operated.
It can be assumed that operation without danger is no longer possible if the
device has any visible damage, the device no longer works, after extended
storage under unsuitable conditions or after difficult transport conditions.
Do not leave the packaging material lying around carelessly since such
materials can become dangerous toys in the hands of children.
Place the charger and battery on a non-flammable, heat-resistant surface
(e.g. stone tiles). Maintain enough distance from flammable objects. Allow
enough distance between the charger and the battery - never place the
battery on the charger.
As both the charger and the battery heat up during the charge/discharge
procedure, it is necessary to ensure sufficient ventilation. Never cover the
charger or the battery!
Rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, taken apart or thrown
into fire. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
Leaking or damaged rechargeable batteries may cause caustic burns if they
come into contact with skin. Therefore you should use suitable protective
gloves for this.
Please observe correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when connecting the
rechargeable battery to your model or charger. Connecting the battery
incorrectly will not only damage the model but also the battery. There is a
risk of fire and explosion!
Also observe the safety instructions of the rechargeable battery
manufacturer.
If you are not sure about the correct connection or use, or if questions arise which are not
covered by these operating instructions, please do not hesitate to contact our technical
support or another qualified specialist.

VERSION 05/10
COMMISSIONING THE CHARGER
Rechargeable batteries with more than 1 cell in lithium technology usually
have a balancer connection. This connection is used for monitoring of every
single cell by a charger or balancer and protecting it from over-charging. If the
rechargeable battery to be charged has such a balancer connection, this
connection is to be connected to the charger every time the battery is charged.
The charger has an integrated balancer. Since there are different balancer
plugs, a special plug version was dispensed with a universal connection (4)
was provided. For this, observe the following notes in this chapter.
For charging, observe the warning notes of the rechargeable battery
manufacturer regarding maximum charging current and maximum permissible
temperature of the rechargeable battery.
Connect the charger to a stabilised direct current (11 – 15 V/DC, e.g. a car battery) in the
right polarity with the connection lines (1). The red cable must be connected to the plus,
the black to the minus pole of the voltage source. The device now performs a self-test.
For a short moment, the display (2) shows all segments.
After a self-test, the display automatically changes back and forth between volt and
ampere display. If no rechargeable battery is connected yet, the volt display 0.00V is
shown. The ampere display shows a value between 0.1 and 3.5 A, depending on the
position of the rotary control for the charging current (7).
Now connect the rechargeable battery to be charged to the charging output sockets of
the charger (3) with a suitable charging cable in the right polarity. The plus pole of the
rechargeable battery must be connected to the red socket and the minus pole of the
rechargeable battery to black charging output.
If the rechargeable battery to be charged has a balancer connection, this connection
must be connected to the balancer socket of the charger (4) every time the battery is
charged. The minus pole of the rechargeable battery's balancer connection is to be
connected to the terminal pin (5) marked as minus pole.
Select the right lithium battery type with the battery type button (6). Attention! If the
wrong battery type is selected, all charging parameters will no longer match the battery
type. This poses a danger of destroying the rechargeable battery. There also is a danger
of fire and explosion!
When the charging current is displayed, set the desired charging current with the
charging current rotary control (7). For this, observe the instructions of the rechargeable
battery manufacturer. Attention! If the maximum permissible charging currents of the
manufacturer are not observed, this poses a danger of destroying the rechargeable
battery. There also is a danger of fire and explosion!
After verifying all settings and connections, you can start the charging procedure by
pressing the start/stop button (8). Note: The charging process can be interrupted at any
time by pressing the start-stop button again.
While charging, the display (2) automatically switches to show the following parameters:
Volt = current charging voltage, Ampere = current charging current, milliampere hours =
the energy and time with which the battery is currently charged = current charging time.
While charging and while the rechargeable battery's balancer cable is connected, the
LED displays for the balancer (9) are also lit.
¼
If the LEDs are always lit, the respective call is currently being "balanced", i.e.
adapted to the other cells by a controlled discharging current. If the LEDs only light
up sporadically or not at all, the cells are "balanced", i.e. all cells have the same
voltage level.
If there are any errors in the charger and/or rechargeable battery, the device shows
these errors in the display and a warning signal sounds. It is possible that the charging
process cannot be started or that a charging processes is uninterrupted. For this,
observe the notes in the following chapter "Error messages".
The charger will automatically end the charging process when the rechargeable battery
is charged completely and "balanced". When the rechargeable battery is full, the display
indicates "FULL" and a signal sounds. Now unplug the rechargeable battery and remove
the terminal clamps (1) from the supply voltage.
ERROR MESSAGES ON THE DISPLAY
If the charger recognises any errors, the display shows the respective error code and a
warning signal sounds. The following error messages can appear:
Err1: Interruption in the charging cable of rechargeable battery.
Err2: The high current charging connection (3) or balancer connection (4) was
disconnected during charging, or the connection is loose.
Err3: The input voltage at the terminals (1) is too low (below 11 V).
