Mowing Tips
Figure 23
F ollo w these instr uction whether cutting g rass or lea v es for
the best cutting results and la wn appearance .
Maintain a shar p blade throughout the mo wing season.
Onl y mo w dr y g rass. W et g rass tends to clump on the
yard and ma y cause the mo w er to plug up or the motor
to stall. T hey ma y also be slipper y to w alk on and could
cause y ou to slip and fall.
W hen cutting v er y tall g rass , y ou ma y w ant to first mo w

Double-insulated Appliances
In a double-insulated appliance , tw o systems of insulation
are pro vided instead of g rounding . No g rounding means
is pro vided on a double-insulated appliance , nor should a
means for g rounding be added to the appliance . Ser vicing
a double-insulated appliance requires extreme care and
kno wledg e of the system, and should be done only b y
the qualified ser vice personnel at an A uthorized T oro
Ser vice Dealer . R e placement par ts for a double-insulated
appliance m ust be identical to the par ts they re place . A
double-insulated appliance is mark ed with the w ords
“Double Insulation” or “Double Insulated. T he symbol
(square within a square) ma y also be mark ed on the
appliance .

the original cutting angle .
Note: T he blade will remain balanced if y ou remo v e the
same amount of material from both cutting edg es .
Important: Check the balance of the blade by
putting it on a blade balancer . Y ou can purchase an
inexpensi v e balancer at a hard w ar e stor e. A balanced
blade stays in a horiz ontal position; an unbalanced
blade settles to the hea vy side. If the blade is not
balanced, file mor e metal of f the cutting edge on the
hea vy end of the blade.
