The MATRIX AIS can be connected to a HDS5 and 7 chart plotter, however a NMEA multiplexer is needed as the Lowrance has only one
NMEA port. Brookhouse, a company in New Zealand has designed a multiplexer (model AISC) that will work with the Lowrance chart
Plotters. The diagram below shows how to connect the multiplexer between the Lowrance chart plotter and the MATRIX AIS VHF radio.
After connections are made the Lowrance chart plotter, the communications port must be configured to 38400 baud. Refer to the
Lowrance owners manual for operation.
