Fan Makes a Humming Noise
1. Is the fan wired correctly? Ensure the live/hot supply wire is connected to the black
and/or blue fan wire and neutral supply wire is connected to the white fan wire.
2. Is there a loose wire connector? Check for loos wire connectors in canopy and switch
housing.
3. Is there a bulb burning out? If so, replace bulb.
4. Does the fan only hum when other electrical items in the same room are being used?
If so, the voltage to the supply wires is inadequate. The voltage of the supply wire at the
outlet box must be 110 volts. An electrician will need to repair the issue with the
household wiring.
5. Is the capacitor blow? A blow capacitor will have a bubble or look deformed due to
excessive heat. If so, a fan under warranty should be returned
6. Is fan connected to a wall control? If so, ensure the wall control is not a rheostat or
variable-speed.
Fan Makes Banging Noise
1. Is there one or more loose blade arms? If so, tighten all motor screws
2. Is there one more loose blades? If so, tighten the blade screws that secure the blades to
the blade arms.
3. Is there one or more loose set screws in the yoke of the motor assembly? If so, tighten
the set screws.
4. Is the tab on the mounting bracket seated in one of the grooves of the downrod ball?
If not, twist the downrod along with the fan until the downrod ball is properly seated in
the mounting bracket.
5. Is there a foreign object that has fallen into the motor housing? If so, remove the
object from the motor housing.
