1. Introduction
1.1 Purpose of this Document
This document serves as a base document, providing references to a set of user's manuals. Each
manual documents the use of a subset of the ControlSwitch's features and functionalities.
This manual describes the ControlSwitch EMS and its main menu tabs, providing references to the
relevant function-specific user’s manual.

User's Manual Documentation Set 2.
The following lists the User's Manual Documentation set:
ControlSwitch Elements and Resources Use's Manual. Provides the provisioning guidelines on basic
CS elements, and resources (gateways and trunk groups), listed in the Network Elements window.
ControlSwitch Advanced Elements and Services User's Manual. Provides the provisioning
guidelines of the advanced CS elements (listed in the Network Elements window), and details the
Services tab.
ControlSwitch Policies and Routing User's Manual. Provides details on the Policies tab, which
allows the user to manage all the basic routing-related issues in the system.
ControlSwitch Business Services and Advanced Policies User's Manual. Provides details on business
services that are provided for enterprises, and includes advanced routing information (Policies tab).
ControlSwitch SBC and Profiles User's Manual. Provides details on the Session Border Controller
(SBC), and Profiles tabs.
ControlSwitch Administration User's Manual. Provides details on the Administration tab.
ControlSwitch Performance and Monitoring User's Manual. Provides details on the Performance
and Fault/Diagnistics tabs. (TBD)
ControlSwitch Lawful Interception User's Manual. Provides details on the Lawful Interception tab.

Each document includes the following sections, specific to its own subject:
A Provisioning Guidelines section, which provides a set of provisioning guidelines about relevant CS
functions.
Details on each relevant EMS window.

Element Management System 3.
The Element Management System (EMS):
Enables the provisioning of the ControlSwitch elements, resources, and services, using a Web
browser-based GUI, for proper system operation.
Proactively monitors the status of the system's elements, ensuring that all the elements are brought
up in the proper sequence, and that the appropriate relationships are enabled among them.
Supports multiple monitoring aspects, including real-time alarms, call tracing, diagnostics,
performance statistics, traffic reports and Call Detail Records (CDR) browsing (stored in the CDR
Manager).
Ensures the high availability of the ControlSwitch, performing sanity checks as well as rebinding
operations of elements after an element failure is detected and its functional failover to an
alternate element has occurred.
3.1 EMS Login
To log in to the ControlSwitch system:
1. Enter the URL of the web application on your browser. The following window opens.
2. Click on EMS Console.
3. Enter your user name and password in the Username and Password fields, respectively.
4. Click on the Login button to enter the system.

Following the login, the EMS main window appears as shown below.
The EMS main window is divided into the following sections:
Network Elements Tree, at the left side of the window, displays all the existing network elements,
and the resources (gateways and trunk groups) of the system. By clicking on each item, it can be
expanded or directly lead to the provisioning screen of that element. The basic elements and the
resources are detailed in the 4ControlSwitch Elements and Resources User's Manual, and the
advanced elements in the ControlSwitch Advanced Elements and Services User's Manual.
EMS Menu, represented by the tabs, which are located at the top of the window.
Top ruler, which is located at the top-right side of the window, as following:
Logout. Click on this button to logout from the EMS.
Username. Displays the logged-in user's name.
Dashboard. Click on this button to view the system's statistical information.
4.1 EMS Menu
Network Elements 4.1.1
The Network Elements tab allows the provisioning of all the network elements, and the resources
(media gateways and trunk groups) of the system.
The CS basic elements and the resources are detailed in the ControlSwitch Elements and Resources
User's Manual, and the CS advanced elements are detailed in the ControlSwitch Advanced Elements and
Services User's Manual.
SBC 4.1.2
The SBC tab, allows the user to provision the parameters needed for any SBC integration into the
system. The integration guidelines are detailed in the ControlSwitch SBC and Profiles User's Manual.

Profiles
4.1.3
The Profiles tab allows the user to determine how to handle a list of SS7 messages/parameters, for
interoperability purposes. Profile tab also allows the user to configure VoIP security profiles, used by the
IBCF ALG element. Profiles are detailed in the ControlSwitch SBC and Profiles User's Manual.
Policies 4.1.4
The Policies tab allows the user to set policy on how the services and the routings should be treated in
the CS. The provisioning of the CS policies is enabled by an array of policy-related functions such as
service triggers, routing parameters, and various re-routing possibilities.
These policies are used by the PE, when it is queried by the SEE during a call. The policies provisioning is
detailed in the ControlSwitch Policies and Routing User's Manual and in ControlSwitch Business Services
and Advanced Policies User's Manual.
Services 4.1.5
The Services tab displays the services and announcements building blocks, and allows the settings of the
CS remote (SIP, ENUM, SS7 IN), and local services.
The services provisioning is detailed in the ControlSwitch Advanced Elements and Services User's
Manual.
Performance 4.1.6
The Performance tab displays the periodic and on-line reports of the system and enables the setting of
relevant parameters, needed for retrieving the CS performance information.
The CS performance windows are detailed in the ControlSwitch Performance and Monitoring User's
Manual. (TBD)
Fault/Diagnostics 4.1.7
The Fault/Diagnostics tab provides the user with all the necessary trouble-shooting tools, such as
alarms, CDR, call traces, and test calls.
The CS fault/diagnostics windows are detailed in the ControlSwitch Performance and Monitoring User's
Manual. (TBD)
Administration 4.1.8
The Administration tab enables all the administration issues such as users' information settings and
databases.
The Administration windows are detailed in the ControlSwitch Administration User's Manual. (TBD)
Lawful Interception 4.1.9
The Lawful Interception tab enables the user to configure the lawful interception service, including the
LIDAP element that is a CS element which interfaces with the lawful authorities. For selecting this tab
special privilege right is necessary.
The Lawful Interception window is detailed in the ControlSwitch Lawful Interception User's Manual.

Mediation 4.1.10
This tab enables the provisioning of the additional applications that interact with the CS.

Help 4.1.11
The Help tab provides detailed information on each one of the CS elements and functions. By clicking on
the help tab, a list of topics is displayed on the left side of the window. By selecting one of the topics the
relevant information is displayed in the window.
