IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should
always be followed, including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.
2. To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons do
not immerse cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other
liquids.
3. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including
children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capa-
bilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they
are closely supervised and instructed concerning use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children
should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the
appliance.
4. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
5. Unplug the appliance from the outlet when not in use and
before cleaning. Allow the appliance to cool before putting
on or taking off parts and before cleaning the appliance.

8. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the ap-
pliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury
to persons. Use the appliance only with the supplied base.
9. Do not use the appliance outdoors.
10. Always attach kettle to base first, then plug cord into the
wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “off”, then
remove plug from wall outlet.
11. Do not let the cord hang over edge of table or counter or
touch hot surfaces, including the stove.
12. Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric
burner or in a heated oven.
13. Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.
14. Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended
use.
15. Place the appliance on a stable surface. Boiling water can
cause an unstable kettle to fall over.
16. Do not fill the kettle above the MAX mark! Otherwise,
boiling water may spill out.
17. Heat water only with the lid closed, otherwise the automatic
shut-off cannot function.
18. Do not operate the appliance without the scale filter insert.
19. Hot steam clouds may be released. The appliance also
becomes very hot during use. Risk of burns!
20. Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.
21. After use, the appliance will still have some residual heat.

Important cord information
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the
other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, there is only one way
this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet. If the plug does
not completely fit into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not
fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the
plug in any way.
a) A short power supply cord (or detachable power supply cord)
is provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled
in or tripping over a longer cord.
b) Longer detachable power supply cords or extension cords are
available and may be used if they are used carefully.
c) If a long detachable power supply cord or extension cord is
used:
1) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power supply
cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the
electrical rating of the appliance;
2) If the appliance has a grounded plug, the cord set or exten-
sion cord should also be a grounded 3-wire cord; and
3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape
over the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on
by children or tripped over.
Intended use
This appliance is intended for boiling water, but it is not intended
for use with other liquids.
This appliance is intended exclusively for use in domestic house-
holds. Do not use this appliance in commercial or industrial
environments.

tions from the box.
Remove all packaging material.
Check the package for completeness and signs of visible
damage. If the delivery is incomplete or damage has occurred
as a result of defective packaging or during transport, contact
the customer service hotline (see "3 year limited warranty"
section).

Operation
First use
Always use freshly drawn tap water in the kettle! Do not con-
sume any water that is not certified as potable. If you do, you
are taking a risk with your health!
Open the lid by pressing the release button 1.
Fill the appliance with water up to the MAX mark and let it
come to a full boil once, as described in the next section.
After it finished boiling, discard this water.
Rinse the kettle with clear water.
Refill the appliance with water up to the MAX mark, and then
bring it to a boil. After it finished boiling, discard this water too.
Rinse the kettle with clear water.
The appliance is now ready for use.
Boiling water
Never place the electric base 4 close to water – this would be
a potentially fatal risk!
Always use freshly drawn water. Do not consume any water
that has been left in the kettle for more than one hour. Do not
reboil water that has cooled down. Always discard old water.
Microbes could have formed in it!
For safety reasons you should not open the lid when the water
is boiling or extremely hot. There is a risk of scalding.

Always ensure that the ON/OFF switch 3 is not pressed
down when the power plug is unplugged and the appliance is
standing on the base 4. Otherwise the appliance could heat
up unintentionally as soon as the power plug is plugged in
again.
This appliance is equipped with an overheating protector.
If the appliance is turned on accidentally without any water
in the kettle , the appliance turns off automatically.
If the appliance boils dry, for example due to a non-closed lid,
the appliance turns off automatically.
In such cases, first allow the appliance to cool down before
using it again.
Lift the kettle off the base when filling it!
Press the release button 1 and open the lid.
Hold the kettle upright to fill it. This is the only way to read the
markings on the scale 2 correctly.
Fill the kettle up to no more than the MAX mark with water.
First close the lid, then place the kettle on the base 4 and
make sure that it sits securely on the base 4.
Now insert the plug into the power socket.
Push the ON/OFF switch 3 down until it engages.
The light in the ON/OFF switch 3 shows that the appliance
is now heating up.
As soon as the water is boiling, the appliance will turn off
automatically, the ON/OFF switch 3 clicks upward and
the light turns off.

Cleaning and maintenance
Always remove the plug from the power socket before cleaning
the appliance.
Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids!
Allow the appliance to cool down sufficiently before cleaning it.
Risk of Burns!
Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaning materials. They
could damage the upper surfaces and irreparably damage the
appliance.
Clean the exterior surfaces and the power cord with a slightly
damp cloth. Be sure to dry the appliance well before using it
again. For stubborn stains add a mild detergent to the cloth.
Ensure that there are no detergent residues in and on the
appliance before using it again.
Rinse the inside of the kettle with clean water.
If there are any deposits in the kettle, wipe out the inside surface
with a damp cloth or use a dish or bottle brush. Then rinse the
kettle with clean water again.
In the event of scale deposits
Calcium deposits on the bottom of the appliance lead to in-
creased energy consumption and reduce the service life of the
appliance. Descale the appliance as soon as scale (calcium)
deposits become apparent.
Use a descaling agent that is designed for household appli-
ances (e.g. for coffee machines). Proceed as outlined in the
instructions provided for the use of the decalcifying agent.
After descaling, rinse the appliance with plenty of clean water.

Inserting/removing the scale filter insert
The spout of the kettle is equipped with a scale filter insert 6,
which can become clogged with particles or scale over time. To
clean the scale filter insert 6, simply remove it from the appliance.
Open the lid.
Inside the kettle, press the protruding tab on the scale filter
insert 6 slightly downward so that the scale filter insert 6 can
be removed.
Clean the scale filter insert 6 with a slightly damp dish cloth
under running water.
First, place the scale filter insert 6 with the lower lock in the
recess inside the kettle. Press the protruding tab on the scale
filter insert 6 slightly downward and slide it under the holder.
Ensure that the scale filter insert 6 clicks into place properly.
If lime scale deposits have solidified in the scale filter insert 6,
place the filter in a water-vinegar solution with a ratio of 6:1
for a few hours. The lime scale deposits will dissolve. Rinse the
scale filter insert 6 with plenty of fresh water.
Storage
Allow the appliance to cool down completely before putting it
into storage.
Wind the power cord around the cord retainer 5 under the
base 4.
Store the appliance in a clean and dry location.

Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance from damage during
transport. The packaging materials have been selected for their
environmental friendliness and ease of disposal, and are therefore
recyclable.
Returning the packaging to the material cycle conserves raw mate-
rials and reduces the amount of waste that is generated. Dispose
of packaging materials that are no longer needed in accordance
with applicable local regulations.
Note the marking on the different packaging materials and sepa-
rate them as necessary. The packaging materials are marked with
abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with the following meanings:
