Tascam introduces a new Digital Audio Workstation
Controller. Combining a hardware interface with computer
functionality, the US-224 is a simplified version of the enor-
mously popular US-428. Like the US-428, the US-224 inter-
faces with both Windows and Macintosh based platforms
via a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port, requires no additional
interface card to install, and is compatible with applica-
tions that accept standard MIDI controller messages.
The US-224 gives users control over any number of soft-
ware faders via four hardware faders selectable in banks
with buttons located beneath the US-224's jog wheel and
also supports transport and control functions for
sequencers and DAWs.
Two inputs and two outputs of 16- or 24-bit audio can be
supported simultaneously at 44.1 or 48 kHz. There are two
balanced XLR and two unbalanced inputs (switchable
between mic, line and guitar), as well as SPDIF digital
input/output. The US-224 is powered via its USB connec-
tion to the computer with no external power supply
required. It can also run in US-428 emulation mode
offering users the ability to use software already
supporting the US-428.
