ELECTRICAL CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS
•
A 4-wire or 3-wire, single phase, 208/240 volt, 60 Hz., AC only electrical supply is
required on a separate, 40-amp circuit (24" [60.9 cm] models), fused on both
sides of the line.
•
The cooktop should be connected directly to the junction box through exible,
armored or nonmetallic sheathed, copper cable. The exible, armored cable
extending from the fuse box or circuit breaker box should be connected directly
to the junction box.
•
Locate the junction box to allow as much slack as possible between the junction
box and the cooktop so that the cooktop can be moved if servicing becomes
necessary in the future.
•
Do not cut the conduit. The length of conduit provided is for serviceability of the
cooktop.
•
A UL listed or CSA approved conduit connector must be provided at each end of
the power supply cable (at the cooktop and at the junction box). A listed conduit
connector is already provided at the cooktop.
•
The cooktop conduit wiring is approved for copper wire connection only. If your
house has aluminum wiring, you must use UL approved connectors for joining
copper to aluminum. Follow the electrical connector manufacturer's
recommended procedure. Aluminum/copper connection must conform with
local codes and industry accepted wiring practices.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1 - UNPACK COOKTOP
1. Cover countertop with a towel or soft cloth.
2. Lift the cooktop from the packaging and place it upside down on the covered
surface. Rest the cooktop on the foam end posts from the packaging.
3. Remove the shipping materials and tape from the cooktop.
4. Remove the hardware package from inside the bag containing literature.
STEP 2 - PREPARE FOR INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT: Make sure the wall coverings, countertop, and cabinets around
the cooktop can withstand heat (up to 200°F [93°C]) generated by the cooktop.
1. Determine location for the cooktop. Make sure the countertop is square and
level and that there are no structural supports that will interfere with the
opening requirements. Consult the countertop manufacturer for specic
instructions.
NOTE: Countertop must be 1³⁄₁₆" (3.0 cm) to 3" (7.6 cm) thick.
2. Measure to ensure the selected location will meet the required clearances, and
if necessary, cut an installation opening in the countertop. See “Opening
Dimensions” for more information.
NOTE: To ensure accuracy, it is recommended that you make a template
before cutting the installation opening in the countertop.
3. Clean cooktop cutout of any dust or debris.
