Learning About the Apriva BT200-T
The Apriva BT200-T Bluetooth Smart Card Reader (SCR) works with
the CN4G, CN4eG, or CK61G Mobile Computer to enable data
sensitive enterprises to have a high level of security for wireless
communication. The SCR provides users with strong identification
and authentication using hard token certificate and private key
policies.
Understanding the Power Button and LEDs
The SCR has a Power button and two status LEDs to tell you the
status of the smart card reader.

You power on the
SCR.
Solid green for a
few seconds
The SCR has a good charge.
Solid red You need to charge the battery.
No LED The battery is completely discharged.
You first insert a
common access
card (initial four
seconds).
Solid green Battery is over 75% charged and is ready
for operation.
Flashing green Battery has between 25% and 75%
charged capacity.
Solid red Battery has less that 25% charge. You
need to charge the battery.

If the LED is not blinking after you press the Power button, you need
to charge the SCR for 30 or more minutes. After 30 minutes, you need
to check the status of the indicators by inserting a smart card.
Checking and Charging the Battery
The SCR takes approximately 3 hours to charge its internal battery.
You can use the wall charger or a USB cable to charge the SCR.
To check the status of the battery
Press the Power button and observe the status LEDs. For more
information on the status LEDs, see “Understanding the Power
Button and LEDs” on page 7.
To charge the battery using the wall charger
1 Attach the SCR to the wall charger.
2 Insert the wall charger into an electrical outlet.
3 The green LED turns on indicating that the SCR is charged.

To charge the battery using a USB cable
1 Connect the USB adapter to the USB cable, then connect the USB
adapter to the SCR to the port labeled PC.
2 Connect the other end of the USB cable to your notebook or
desktop PC. The green LED turns on indicating that the SCR is
charged.
While charging using the USB cable, all smart card operations are
disabled.
Installing and Pairing the SCR
There are five important steps to follow before you can use the
SCR.
To install and pair the SCR
1 For the CK61G, upgrade the operating system (OS) and
SmartSystems Platform Bundle (SSPB). For more information, see
the CK61 Mobile Computer User’s Manual.
2 Load the SCR software onto the mobile computer.
3 Pair the SCR to the mobile computer.
4 Install security.
5 Install the AprivaGuard software.
Use the following sections to help you install and pair the SCR to your
mobile computer.
Note: If the battery is discharged to the point where you cannot turn
on the SCR, you need to charge, the SCR for 20 to 30 minutes. Once
the SCR has been charged for that amount of time, turn the SCR off
and on again to finish charging.

Loading the SCR Software
Use this section to learn how to load the SCR software onto your
mobile computer.
To load the SCR software
1 Tap the iConnect icon. The iConnect menu appears.
2 If you are installing the SCR software onto the CK61G:
a Select Enable and make sure that Assured Radio
Deactivation is not checked. The mobile computer restarts
with Assured Radio Deactivation turned off.
b Tap OK on the Assured Radio Deactivation screen.
c Tap Start > Settings > the Connections tab > Bluetooth. The
Bluetooth Settings screen appears.
d Select the Turn on Bluetooth check box to enable Bluetooth.
e Tap OK to exit the Bluetooth Settings screen.

If you are installing the SCR software onto the CN4G or CN4eG,
continue to the next step.
3 Establish an ActiveSync connection between your mobile
computer and your desktop PC by placing the mobile computer
into communications dock. For more information, see the mobile
computer user’s guide.
4 Once a connection has been established, the Microsoft ActiveSync
screen appears on your PC. Click the Explore button and browse
to the \My Documents folder.
5 Download the Apriva software from www.intermec.com/ait and
extract all of the files into the \My Documents folder.
6 Remove the mobile computer from the communications dock and
tap Programs > File Explorer on your mobile computer. The File
Explorer screen appears.

7 Install the SCR software and pair the SCR with your mobile
computer. For help, see the next section.
Pairing the SCR
Use this section to learn how to pair the SCR with your mobile
computer. For security purposes, you must pair the SCR using a USB
cable. After the initial pairing, you do not need to pair the SCR with a
USB cable again.
To pair the SCR
1 Browse to the \My Documents folder and tap
AprivaSmartCardDriver.SWM5PPCxxxx.cab where xxxx is the
version number. The .cab file is installed onto your mobile
computer and cold boots your device.
2 Place the mobile computer into the communications dock.

3 Connect a USB cable to your communications dock and to the
SCR using the USB adapter provided. Note that you have to
connect it to the port labeled PDA.

4 Turn the smart card reader on by pressing the Power button. The
green LED on the card reader blinks once every second to indicate
that there is a USB connection present.
Note: Use the cable that you connected to your PC. The cable that
comes with the SCR is a charge only cable.

5 On the mobile computer, tap Start > Settings > System > Apriva
Reader. The Apriva Reader screen appears.
6 Pair the SCR and the mobile computer by selecting the USB
option and tapping the Pair button.
7 Tap Test Connection to verify that the mobile computer is
communicating with the smart card reader.
8 Tap the Version tab. The Version screen appears.
9 Tap the Update button.
10 Select AprivaReaderxxxx.bin where xxxx is the version number.
The smart card reader begins the firmware update process.
11 Tap the Details tab and the Verify Signatures button to verify the
digital signatures of the firmware.
12 Tap the Connection tab, and select the Bluetooth option.
13 Remove the USB cable from the SCR, and turn the power to the
SCR back on by pressing the Power button.
Note: If the green LED blinks once every four seconds, the SCR is
powered on, but there is no USB connection. Repeat Step 3 to pair
the SCR. For more information about the LED status see,
“Understanding the Power Button and LEDs” on page 7.

14 Tap Test Connection to verify that the SCR is communicating
with the mobile computer.
15 Tap OK to close the Apriva Reader application.
16 Browse to the \My Documents folder and tap
Semtek Innovative Solutions CAC Reader.cab. The .cab file is
installed onto your mobile computer.
17 Go to File Explorer, browse to the \My Documents folder, and
tap AprivaCSPware.SWM5PPC.cab. The .cab file is installed and
your mobile computer reboots.
18 (Optional) If you need access to the Department of Defense web
site, go to File Explorer, browse to the \My Documents folder,
and tap InstallRoot_WinMobile6_313.cab. The .cab file is
installed onto your mobile computer.
19 If you are installing the SCR software onto the CK61G, you need
to install the following files in the \My Documents folder:
Intermec Funk_AprivaConfig.cab
SR08100900_RTC_CK3WM61_ALL.cab
SR10052500_FUNK_WM61_ALL.cab
20 Install security. For help, see the next section.
Note: Pairing the smart card reader only needs to be performed
once. To select a connection, tap the USB or Bluetooth option
when the SCR and the mobile computer are connected to the
communications dock.

Installing Security
You can choose to install two types of security onto the mobile
computer:
Odyssey Access Client
Fortress Secure Client
The Odyssey Access Client and Fortress Secure Client both provide a
high level of security over your WLAN. These clients protects the
authentication and connection of the WLAN users and devices,
ensuring that only authorized users connect, that login credentials are
not compromised, and that both network and data privacy will be
maintained over the wireless link.
For help on selecting a client, contact your local Intermec
representative.
To install Fortress Secure Client
1 Go to File Explorer, browse to the \My Documents folder, and tap
WZeroConfigEnable.cab. Microsoft Zero Config is installed.
2 Make sure that the mobile computer can successfully associate
with an access point by tapping the iConnect icon > Status >
Wireless > the Advanced button. The ISpyWiFi utility appears
and shows whether you can associate your mobile computer with
an access point.
3 Use the iConnect application to configure the IP address, network
mask, and SSID.
4 Download the Fortress Secure Client Installation Guide from the
Intermec AIT web site, and follow the directions to install and
configure the Fortress Secure Client.
5 Install the AprivaGuard software. For help, see “Installing the
AprivaGuard Software” on page 17.
The CN4G and CN4eG comes with Odyssey Access Client already
loaded. To use the client on your CN4G and CN4eG, you must
purchase a user license, and activate it. For help on activating the
client, see the CN4G and CN4eG Odyssey Access Client Installation
Instructions.

To install Odyssey Access Client for the CK61
1 Go to File Explorer and browse to the \My Documents folder,
and tap Intermec Funk_Apriva.cab file. The .cab file is installed
on your mobile computer.
2 Tap WZeroConfigEnable.cab. Microsoft Zero Config is installed
on your mobile computer.
3 Purchase and download the Odyssey Access Client. For more
information, go to www.juniper.net.
4 Download the Odyssey Access Client Installation Guide from the
Intermec AIT web site, and follow the directions to install and
configure the Odyssey Access Client.
5 Install the AprivaGuard software. For help, see “Installing the
AprivaGuard Software” on page 17.
Installing the AprivaGuard Software
Install the AprivaGuard software license onto your mobile computer
to enable PKI authentication and validation for the mobile computer
and a given application.
To install the AprivaGuard software
Browse to the \My Documents folder, and tap
AprivaGuard.WM5PPC.cab file. AprivaGuard installs onto your
mobile computer.
Note: Set the correct date and time, and install any other software
applications you have before installing AprivaGuard. Once
AprivaGuard is installed, you cannot make any changes to your
mobile computers.
