General Power Tool
Safety Warnings
The term "power tool" in the warnings
refers to your main-operated (corded)
4 / 20
power tool or battery-operated
(cordless) power tool.
Work Area Safety
1. Keep work area clean and well lit.
Cluttered or dark areas invite
accidents.
2. Do not operate power tools in
explosive atmospheres, such as in
the presence of flammable liquids,
gases, or dust. Power tools create
sparks which may ignite the dust or
fumes.
3. Keep children and bystanders
away while operating a power tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose
control.
Electrical Safety
1. Power tool plugs must match the
outlet. Never modify the plug in any
way. Do not use any adapter plugs
with earthed (grounded) power tools.
Unmodified plugs and matching
outlets will reduce the risk of electric
shock.
2. Avoid body contact with earthed or
grounded surfaces, such as pipes,
radiators, ranges and refrigerators.
There is an increased risk of electric
shock if your body is earthed or
grounded.
3. Do not expose power tools
to rain or wet conditions.
Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
Personal Safety
1. Stay alert, watch what you are
doing and use common sense when
operating a power tool. Do not use a
power tool while you are tired or
under the influence of drugs, alcohol,
or medication. A moment of
inattention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal
injury.
2. Use personal protective
equipment. Always wear
eye protection. Protective equipment
such as dust mask, non-skid safety
shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection
used for appropriate conditions will
reduce the risk of injury.
3. Prevent unintentional starting.
Ensure the switch is in the off-position
before connecting to the power
source and/or battery pack, picking
up, or carrying the tool. Carrying
power tools with your finger on the
switch or power tools that have been
turned on invites accidents.
4. Remove any adjusting key or
wrench before turning the power tool
5 / 20
on. A wrench or a key left attached to
a rotating part of the power tool may
increase the risk of injury.
5. Do not overreach. Keep proper
footing and balance at all times. This
enables better control of the power
tool in unexpected situations.
6. Dress properly. Do not wear loose
clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair,
clothing and gloves away from
moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry
or long hair can be caught by moving
parts.
7. If devices are provided for the
connection of dust extraction and
collection facilities, ensure that these
are connected and properly used.
Use of dust collection can reduce
dust-related hazards.
Power Tool Use And Care
1. Do not force the power tool. Use
the correct power tool for your
application. The correct power tool
will do the job better and safer at the
rate for which it is designed.
2. Do not use the power tool if it can’t
be turned on and off by its switch. Any
power tool that cannot be controlled
with the switch is dangerous and
must be repaired.
3. Disconnect the plug from the power
source and/or the battery pack from
the power tool before making any
adjustments, changing accessories,
or before storing the power tool. Such
preventive safety measure reduces
the risk of starting the power tool
accidentally.
4. Store idle power tools out of reach
of children and do not allow persons
unfamiliar with the power tool or these
instructions to operate it. Power tools
are dangerous in the hands of
untrained users.
5. Maintain the power tools. Check for
misalignment or binding of moving
parts, breakage of parts and any
other condition that may affect the
power tool’s operation. If damaged,
have the power tool repaired before
use. Many accidents are caused by
poorly maintained power tools.
6. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
Properly maintained cutting tools with
sharp cutting edges are less likely to
bind and are easier to control.
7. Use the power tool, accessories
and tool bits etc. in accordance with
these instructions, taking into account
the working conditions and the work
to be performed. Use of the power
tool for operations different from
6 / 20
those intended could result in a
hazardous situation.
Battery Tool Use And Care
1. Recharge only with the charger
specified by the manufacturer. A
charger that is suitable for one type of
battery pack may create a risk of fire
when used with another battery pack.
2. Use power tools only with
specifically designated battery packs.
Use of any other battery packs may
create a risk of injury and fire.
3. When battery pack is not in use,
keep it away from other metal objects
like paper clips, coins, keys, nails,
screws, or other small metal objects
that can make a connection from one
terminal to another. Shorting the
battery terminals together may cause
burns or fire.
4. Under abusive conditions, liquid
may be ejected from the battery;
avoid contact. If you accidentally
contact the battery liquid, flush it with
water. If the battery liquid contacts the
eyes, seek medical help as soon as
possible. Liquid ejected from the
battery may cause irritation or burns.
Service
Have your power tool serviced by a
qualified repair professional using
only the identical replacement parts.
This will ensure that the safety of the
power tool is maintained.

ASSEMBLY &
OPERATION
Warning! Remove the battery
pack before cleaning or maintaining
the tool, fitting the edger wheel or
plant guard or before making any
adjustments to the tool, especially
around the string head.
Remove the battery pack before
transporting or storing the tool.
Fitting the guard
The guard is an essential part of the
tool and must ALWAYS be used.
Otherwise, damage to the trimmer
and injury to the operator may
occur. The guard is not fitted to the
trimmer when it is delivered to you
to avoid damage in transit.
To fit the guard, align the opening in
the guard with the underside of the
trimmer head as shown. Tighten the
four screws (highlighted in the
drawing) to fix the guard in place.
Wheel Assembly
Installation
The edger wheels are needed for
edge trimming, and although they
are not needed for normal
trimming, they can be left fitted to
the machine during normal
trimming operations.
To fit the edger wheel assembly,
slide it downwards onto the grey
plastic track on the left side of the
trimmer head. You will feel it click
into place. You may need to use a
screwdriver to lift the locking tab
before you can slide the assembly
into place
The edger wheel assembly can be
removed by lifting the locking tab
(use a tool if necessary) and sliding
upwards.
9 / 20
Fitting the plant guard
The plant guard is used to prevent
your trimmer from cutting your
plants. The wire plant guard is
inserted into the holes provided in
the front of the head. The plant
guard can be folded up when not in
use, or easily removed
Fitting and Removal of the
battery
The battery should always be
removed whenever you are not
using the tool and especially when
you are adjusting or transporting
the tool to avoid accidental
operation.
To insert the battery, slide it into
the battery cradle on the top of the
line trimmer, aligning the ribs in the
cradle with the slots in the battery
until it latches into place. Check that
the battery is securely locked into
place
To remove the battery press and
hold the latch on the rear of the
battery pack and slide the battery
away from the trimmer.
Rewinding the spool
The spool is supplied with the line
pre-wound. The twisted line is
1.65mm (0.065”) in diameter, which
gives a good cutting performance
and reduced noise. Follow the
instructions below to rewind a new
line onto the spool.
To remove the string head, press
and hold the shaft lock button and
unscrew the head anti-clockwise.
Component parts of the string head
Cut a piece of nylon line 1.65mm
10 / 20
(0.065”) in diameter maximum 12m
long (you may find it easier to
practice with a shorter line length at
first). Find the center of the line and
loop it onto the notch in the center
flange of the spool. Wind the line
around the spool, in the direction
indicated by the arrow on the spool,
keeping each end of the line in its
own channel. Keep the line tight as
you wind so that the line coils
smoothly onto the spool
Wrap the line around the spool
leaving about 20cm line exposed on
each side
Keep the line tight and clip the lines
into the notches in the bottom
flange of the spool to hold the line
in place while you fit the spool into
the housing.
The smaller end of the spring goes
into the top of the spool
Then put the spool and spring into
the housing leaving the ends of the
line protruding from the cutouts on
each side.
Thread the string guides onto the
line as shown
Slide into place. Do the same on
both sides.
Position the cover in place as shown
and press the cover onto the
housing until the clips snap into
place.
Pull-on both ends of the line to free
them from the notches in the spool.
To replace the spool, press on the
spool lock button and screw the
head clockwise onto the shaft and
hand tighten.
