Product description
1. Appropriate use
The NIKO caterpillar HY 60 was created for the application in scarp, on swampy
underground and in unapproachable and pathless terrain. The application area of the
caterpillar ranges from an upgrade of 30 % to 70 % depending on the state of the
underground. The light weight and the consequential minimal pressure of the bottom
(takes care of the bottom), the manageability and the operational safety allow the
application on faces which could be worked on only limited with other machines.
The hydrostatic caterpillar HY 60 is only affected for riding in pathless and steeply terrain.
The caterpillar may not be driven in the ambit of the StVZO (in the open road traffic).
The caterpillar is not qualified for driving on tarmac ways (extreme high wastage of the
rubber chains).

3. Functional description
The NIKO caterpillar HY 60 is a equipment rack especially designed for driving in steeply
and pathless terrain. Several accessory equipments can be attached on the basic device
as well as rear or front extension.
The caterpillar is equiped with a 4 cylinder diesel engine. This engine powers a total of two
axial piston pumps and two geared pumps. The axial piston pumps feed, controlled
through the joystick, two oil engines in the driving wheels. One geared pump feed the
attachments with the necessitate mass of oil. The steering of the attachments is fed
through the geared pump. The drive mechanism of the caterpillar is hydrostatic. Running
speed, maximum angle of turn could be changed independant and stepless of each other
and because of that they can be suit optimal to the prevailing circumstances.

General Safety Information
1. Care of the operator and general safety measures
The caterpillar HY 60 were constructed and manufactured according to an endangerment
analysis after careful selection of harmonized norms to be observed, as well as further
technical specifications. It fulfils state of the art requirements and ensures a maximum of
safety.
These safety standards can only be maintained in practical use when all necessary
measures are taken. It is the responsibility of the operator to plan these measures and
monitor their execution.
The operator has to make sure that:
- the machine is only used for the intended purpose(see chapter “product description”)
- the machine is only operated in faultless and functional condition and especially that
the functionality of the safety devices is regularly checked
- the operating instruction is complete and in a readable condition and always available
at the machine operating site
- the machine is only operated, maintained and repaired by qualified and authorized
- the driver makes itself familiar before beginning of work with all mechanisms and
actuators, as well as their function. It is too late during the assignment!
- engine is out-started only by the driver place. It may not short circuit through the
electrical connections at the starter to be started, since the machine can set itself with
switched on cruise control otherwise immediately in motion.
- forfitting clothes are worn
- Before starting the close range should be controlled (Children!)
- Attend on sufficient view!
- Do not run the engine closed rooms, poisoning danger
- before refuelling switch off the engine and deduct the ignition key
- Do not refill fuel in closed rooms
- To prevent fire danger pleasse keep the machine tidy!
- Attention with contacting battery accid (Toxic and corrosive!)
- The vehicle may be operated only by persons, who are mental
and physical in a proper condition
- Tablets and alcohol may not be taken before and while driving
- The vehicle may not be driven by minors
- The entrainment of persons is forbidden
8
2
- The driving speed must be always adapted to the environmental conditions
- Attend on the overhang and the oscillating weight of the machine while driving curves
with attached or positioned equipment!
- Protect the caterpillar by leaving the machine against scrolling, switch off the engine
(By the use of switching off the engine, the hydraulic brake will be activated.) detract
the ignition key
- While the engine is in use, do not leave the caterpillar uncontrolled
- Do not leave the driver`s cab while driving
- Lower the attachments when leaving the machine!
- Under high pressure withdrawing high pressure liquids (fuel, hydraulic oil) can
penetrate the skin and cause heavy injuries. Visit therefore a physician immediately,
since otherwise heavy infections can develop
- eliminate the ground strap of the battery by working on the electrical equipment
- fix the attachments only with required appliances
2. Declaration of used safety symbols
In the available manual the following safety symbols are used. These symbols are to
make the reader attentive particularly on the text of the accompanying safety reference
These symbols point on, that dangers for life and health of persons exist.
Corrosive materials,
Avoid the contact with the skin
Give a wash immediately with plenty
water
Toxic,
do not take
Do not breath in steams

Transport
The caterpillar HY 60 can be shipped by means of a fork-lift truck or by shipping planks on
trailer, truck etc. Consider dimensions and weight of the crawler-type vehicle. Secure the
caterpillar by bands on means of transport. As points of notice for this the draft links of the
three point linkage at front and tail serve.
With transport over longer distances by forwarding business or so the appropriate safety
regulations (e.g. discharging the fuels such as Diesel and hydraulic oils) must be
considered.
Driving with the caterpillar in the area of application of the StVZO is forbidden. Transport
to the place of work of the caterpillar must take place therefore by tractor or passenger car
with trailer. Consider permissible total weight and trailer weight of means of transport.

Installation
The start-up of the machine may take place only after preceding reading of this
manual and briefing via the manufacturer or its authorized selling partner.
The caterpillar HY 60 is completely installed and handed over with all fuels filled (for
reasons of security in the case of transport only little Diesel is filled in). Nevertheless the
filling conditions in engine and hydraulic system should be examined the first start, as well
as later ago in regular intervals. (See chapter „maintenance“).
Make yourselves familiar before the first start with the operating elements of the
vehicle. A "driving with the caterpillar first dealing with even area and you increase
practicing" you the level slowly. Do not try equal the borders the machine to plumb,
but you grope along first to your own ones near. A joystick guided track vehicle has
another handling than for example a tractor or an automobile.
Examine both before and after the first start screwing and hydraulic connections for
tightness and density.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact our technique
department under the telephone number 07223-96830
