3. Intended use
Thisproductisusedtosearchforhiddenmetallicpartsintheground.Thisproductisametaldetector,whichcan
differentiate between ferrous and various non-ferrous metals. The differences between metal types are indicated by
audiblesignalsandonananaloguedisplay.Non-ferrousmetalsincludegold,silver,copper,platinum,aluminium,
lead and zinc. The product can also locate alloys from these materials. The product can search on land as well as

a) General information
The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. It may become a dangerous toy for children.
Protecttheproductfromextremetemperatures,directsunlight,strongjolts,highhumidity,moisture,
ammablegases,vapoursandsolvents.
Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
Ifitisnolongerpossibletooperatetheproductsafely,stopusingitandpreventunauthoriseduse.Safe
operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- isvisiblydamaged,
- isnolongerworkingproperly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or

b) Electrical safety
Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold environment into a warm one.
The condensation generated could destroy the product. Allow the product to reach ambient temperature
before connecting it to the power supply and putting it to use. This may take several hours.
The product must not get damp or wet (apart from the detection probe).
c) Batteries
Check that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity.
To prevent batteryleakage, remove the batteries when you do not plan to use the productfor an
extended period. Leaking or damaged batteries may cause acid burns if they come into contact with
your skin. Always use suitable protective gloves when handling damaged batteries.

Batteriesmustbekeptoutofthereachofchildren.Donotleavebatterieslyingaround,asthereisarisk
that children or pets may swallow them.
All batteries must be replaced at the same time. Mixing old and new batteries can cause the batteries to
leak and damage the product.
Batteriesmustnotbedismantled,short-circuitedorthrownintoames.Neverrechargenon-rechargeable
batteries. Risk of explosion!
d) Basic information on use of this product
This device has the potential to cause damage to property and/or individuals. Ensure that you are
adequatelyinsuredtousethedeviceandforanypotentialconsequences,e.g.bytakingoutprivate
liability insurance.
Important:Somecountriesmayforbidtheuseofmetaldetectors,oryoumayneedtoregisterthemetal
detector with the local authorities.
The search for hidden metallic objects is a hobby that brings with it great happiness and excitement.
Pleasenote,however,thatregulationsconcerningexcavationshavebeenadoptedineverycountry.Itis
in your own interest to familiarise yourself with these regulations.
Neverstartsearchingonprivatelandwithoutpermission.Inprinciple,localstipulationsandlawsapply.
Intheeventofdoubt,checkwiththearesponsibleofceorwiththepropertyowners.
Donotentersitesofarchaeologicalvalueorrenownwithoutauthorisation.Shouldyoundobjectsof
archaeologicalvalue,pleasecontactamuseumorlocalauthority.
Always leave the search location as you found it. Collect waste that you have found and dispose of it
accordingly.
Afterdigging,relltheholesothatitlookstidyanddoesnotpresentahazard.Leavethelandscapeas
you found it.
Return valuable objects to their rightful owners.
e) During use
You are responsible for the hazards associated with excavating and recovering an object.
Whenthedevicedetectsanobject,bearinmindthattheobjectmaybeammunitionoranotherexplosive.
Dangerofdeath!Inthatcase,stopdiggingimmediately,securetheareafromasafedistanceandinform
the local authorities (e.g. police).
This product is not a toy and is not suitable for children under 14 years of age. Children may only use
metal detectors when supervised by an adult.
Objects may only be excavated by adults.
Alwayslookaheadwhenwalkingwiththemetaldetector.Neverlookexclusivelyattheground,asthere
may be obstacles or hazards in front of you such as a slope or road.
f) Persons and product
Keeptheheadphonevolumeatthelowestpossiblelevel,ensuringthatyoucanstillheartheaudible
signalsclearly.Donotusetheheadphonesatanexcessivelyloudvolumeforextendedperiods,asthis
may cause hearing damage.
Donotusetheheadphonestosearchformetalwhenclosetoroads/areaswithheavytrafc.Doingso
will distract you from your environment and there may be hazards that you can no longer hear.
Donotstorethedeviceinveryhotenvironments,e.g.inacarparkedinthesun.

8. Adjusting the metal detector to your body height
The product is delivered fully assembled.
Change the length of the pole to adjust the metal detector to suit your height.
Adjust the length of the pole to your height so that you can comfortably move the
detection probe (1) over the ground at a height of approximately 3 - 5 cm without
havingtobendover.Whensearchingformetallicobjects,ensurethatyoustand
straightwithabalancedbodyposture.Theguretotheleftisschematic.
Follow the steps below to adjust the length of the pole:
Loosen the connection sleeve (3) by turning it clockwise.

Pull the lower telescopic pole (2) outwards to the desired position. The bottom
of the metal detector should be parallel to the ground when you are searching
for metallic objects.
Turn the connection sleeve (3) anticlockwise to secure the pole in place at the
desired length.
Testthelengthsetting.Ifnecessary,readjustthelengthuntilyoundacomfortableposition.
Ifpossible,donotscrewthethreadoutfullyorpullouttheslottedthreadedring.Itmayfalloutandbelost.
Do not twist the cable inside or pull on it.
Loosen the knurled nuts on the swivel joint (14).
Adjust the horizontal position of the detection probe (1) so that it is always parallel to the ground. Tighten the
knurlednutslightlybyhand.Itmuststillbepossibletoadjustthedetectionprobe(1)byhand,butitmustnotslip
immediately.
Tighten the knurled nuts on the swivel joint (14) so that the position of the detection probe (1) does not change when
you are searching for metallic objects.
9. Operation
a) Inserting/replacing the batteries
Insertthebatteriesbeforeusingthemetaldetectorforthersttime.Proceedasfollows:
Toinsertthebatteries,removethebatterycompartmentcoverfromtherearofthe
controlunit(13).Slidethebatterycompartmentcoverinthe“OPEN”arrowdirection.
Fold open the battery compartment cover.
Remove the cover from the battery compartment.
Insert six 1.5 V AA batteries with correct polarity into the battery compartment (12)
(batteries not included). Always observe the correct polarity (positive/+ and
negative/-).
Replace the battery compartment cover. Slide the battery compartment cover back
againstthe“OPEN”arrowdirectionandensurethatthelockingmechanismclicks
into place.
Toreplacethebatteriesatalaterstage,removetheoldbatteriesandfollowthestepsabove.
Thebatterylifewithhigh-quality,fullychargedalkalinebatteriesisapproximately24hours.

b) Checking the battery status
You can check the battery status. We recommend checking the battery status before each use. To check the battery
status,proceedasfollows:
Turn the VOLUME dial (6) to switch the metal detector on.
Slidethebatterytestswitch(9)tothe“BATTTEST”positiontotestthebatterystatus.
The pointer on the analogue display (5) indicates the battery status. If the pointer is in the green area with name
“BATT”,thebatterystatusisOK.Ifthepointercomestorestoutsideofthegreenarea(3-6),thebatterystatusis
nolongeradequate.Inthatcase,thebatteriesmustbereplaced.
Slidethebatterytestswitch(9)tothe“OPERATE”positionagaintoreturntosearchmode.Inthisposition,youcan
begin metal detection.
Testthebatterystatusintheeventofamalfunctionornoresponsefromthemetaldetector,e.g.ifthemetal
detectordoesn’tswitchon,ifyoucan’tadjustthesettings,ifthevolumeistooloworifthemetaldetector
doesn’t respond properly.
10. Description of functions
a) Operating principle
This product works with the VLF method (low-frequency method). A metal detector of this type consists of a transmitter
coil,areceivercoilandswitchingcircuitswithmicroprocessor,whichprocessesthesignals.Theoutercoilinthe
detection probe is the transmitter. An alternating current with a frequency of 20 kHz is sent through this coil. This
createsamagneticeld,whosedirectionalongtheverticalaxisisalignedtotheground.Thismagneticeldinducesa
currentintometallicobjectshiddenintheground.Inturn,thiscreatesamagneticeldinthereceivercoilopposedto
theinducingmagneticeld.Thisislocatedinsidethetransmittercoil.Owingtotheinductance,inducingandinduced
currentowaretimedelayed.Thisphaseshiftinthecurrentsinthetransmitterandreceivercoilsisusedtodetermine
the metal type of the object hidden in the ground.
b) Metal differentiation (discrimination)
Eachmetaltypeshowsacharacteristicvalueofphaseshift,allowingonemetaltypetobedifferentiationfromanother.
Differentiation of the metals by phase shift is referred to as discrimination (differentiation). Metallic objects primarily
withinductiveresistance,i.e.largeobjectsmadefromgoodconductors(gold,silver,copper),showalargephaseshift.
Metallicobjectswitharatherohmicresistance,i.e.smallobjectsmadefrompoorconductors,showsmallerphase
shifts. Please consult the following list with approximate conductivity values for the various conductors (metals and
electrolytes).

11. Operation
a) Functions and analogue display
Push button (reset) (8) Together with the TUNE dial(11),thispushbuttonisdesignedtoset/adjustthe
zero position of the display pointer.
Dials DISCRIMINATION (7) Usethisdialtocongurethediscriminationthresholdfordifferentmetals.
TUNE dial (11) The TUNE dial (11) is designed to tune the detection probe (1) to the electronic
components in the control unit (13). It corrects the zero position on the analogue
display (5).
VOLUME dial (6) This dial is used to set the volume of the audible signal. This applies equally for
loudspeakers and headphones.

Headphone jack (10) Connect suitable headphones to the 3.5 mm jack. The in-built loudspeaker is
switched off.
Battery test switch (9) Use this switch to select the operating mode and battery test mode.

b) Switching on and off
The VOLUMEdial(6)isinthe“OFF”position.Themetaldetectorisswitchedoff.
Turn the VOLUMEdial(6)clockwisetoswitchthemetaldetectoron.Aftertheaudibleandtactileclick,themetal
detector is switched on. An audible signal is emitted.
Turn the VOLUMEdial(6)anticlockwisetoswitchthemetaldetectoroff.Aftertheaudibleandtactileclick,themetal
detectorisswitchedoff(“OFF”position).
c) Default setting - TUNE
This setting needs to be congured to ensure that the metal detector gives consistent results and to prevent
interference or false signals.
Thedefaultsettingmustbereconguredbeforeeachuse,whenmovingtoadifferentsearchareaand
when the ambient conditions change. Repeat this setting process after each reboot of the device.
Ensure that the detection probe (1) is kept away from metallic parts and other sources of interference above ground
(e.g.uorescenttubes).Raisethedetectionprobe(1)atleast30cmfromthegroundandholdinanopenspace.
Turn the VOLUME dial (6) clockwise to switch the metal detector on.
Movethebatterytestswitch(9)tothe“OPERATE”position.
Turn the VOLUME dial (6) clockwise to approximately 11 o’clock.
Turn the DISCRIMINATION dial (7) to approximately the centre position.
Pressandholdthepushbutton(8)onthehandlewithyourngerandslowlyturntheTUNE dial (11) clockwise until
thepointerontheanaloguedisplay(5)pointstozero.Ifnecessary,movethedialbackwardsandforwardsslightly
untilyoundthecorrectposition.
Ifyouhearanaudiblesignal(*)whilesetting,itshouldbecomesilentinthisposition,orbevirtuallyimpossibleto
hear.Thedeviceisnowreadyfor“treasurehunting”.Othersettingscanbecarriedoutduringoperation.Further
information can be found in the following chapters.
Press the push button (8) again if you need to reset the pointer to the zero position during use.
Adjust the default setting again as soon as the circumstances of the search change and then differ from
theprevioussetting,e.g.ifyougofromdrysoiltomoistsoil.Soilswithahighcontentofironminerals
haveferromagneticproperties.Theseferroussoilsgenerateasignalinthemetaldetector,whichmaybe
stronger than the one from a metallic object. This phenomenon is especially apparent in a soil with a high
saltwatercontent.Surfacesofthistype,however,haveaveryconstantphaseshift,sothatwithprecise
adjustment,signaldifferentiationofametalsignalfromthegroundispossible.
d) Setting the discrimination - DISCRIMINATION
The metal detector can be set to the response for various metals located during the search. You can differentiate
between ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Proceed as follows to set the discrimination:
Turn the DISCRIMINATION dial (7) clockwise until approximately the centre of the scale. This enables metal
differentiationformostcommonstandardapplications. If you want to differentiate othermetaltypes,youcan
implement higher settings. The metal differentiation setting is at the maximum level when the dial is turned as far
as it will go.

Whenyouchangethediscriminationsettings,themetaldetectorneedstoberetunedeachtime.See
section“c)Defaultsetting-TUNE”formoreinformation.
12. Handling the metal detector
a) Testing reactions to different metals
Inordertosucceedonthe“treasurehunt”,youneedtoknowhowyourmetaldetectorrespondstodifferentmetals,
theirlocationanddistancewhendetected.Inordertogainexperience,youshouldcarryoutvarioustestsathome
using different metals and different detection angles. Test the handling of the metal detector before a search using
differentkindsofmetal(coins,rings,silvercutlery,etc.)inordertofamiliariseyourselfwiththedeviceandtogain
experience.Tryoutthedetectorrstathome.Thetestsetupshouldnotinabuildingonaoororceiling,asinmany
cases,oorscontainmetalsupportsandreinforcingsteel.Werecommendusingaplasticorwoodentablewithno
steelcomponents,onwhichyoucanlayoutthevariousobjects.
Before conducting a test, remove sources of interference such as electronic devices (wearables), jewellery,
watches and rings.
Place the metal detector on a wooden or plastic table with no interfering metals nearby. Set the detection probe (1)
sothattheatsideofthesearchcoilpointsupwardsinthescales.
Move the metallic test object backwards and forwards over the search probe at a low height.
Detecttheindividualobjectsmadefromknownmaterials,suchascoins,watches,rings,jewellery,oldiron,etc.Note
thecorrespondingindicators,audiblesignalsanddistances.Practiseuntilyoucanclearlyidentifytheindicatorsand
audible signals without making mistakes.
Hold the metallic test object at different angles and note how the audible signal changes.
Repeatthisprocesswithtestobjectsmadefromdifferent,knownmetals.
b) Interpreting the indicator and audible signals
Switch the metal detector on. An audible signal sounds before default setting. When a metallic object is found during
thesearch,theindicatorandaudiblesignalaredependentonanumberofdifferentfactorsandsettings.
The strength of the pointer movement on the analogue display (5) indicates the distance of a found signal (usually
the metal). The pointer movement is a measure of the signal strength. The audible signal becomes louder the closer
the detection probe (1) is to the signal source; it is reduced as you move farther away.
When the differentiation threshold for metal discrimination is set to the minimum position on the DISCRIMINATION
dial(7),metalsarerecordedandindicateduniformly.Themetaldetectorrstlyeliminatesferrousmetals.Whenthe
DISCRIMINATIONdial(7)issetfullyclockwisetothemaximumposition,themetaldetectoreliminatesthinmetal
lm,thenthickerlmsandthensmallaluminiumparts,accordingtothecurrentsetting.

When a metal set on the DISCRIMINATION(7)dialaseliminatedisfound,thepointerontheindicatormoves
anticlockwiseintotheleft-handsectionoftheanaloguedisplay(5).Aquieteraudiblesignalisemitted,or no signal
atall.Themetaltypeisaudiblyeliminated.Ifnometalhasbeeneliminated,theanaloguepointermovesintheright-
handsectionoftheanaloguedisplay(5)only.Whenanon-eliminatedmetaloranalloyhasbeendifferentiated,the
pointermovesanticlockwiseintotheright-handhalfoftheanaloguedisplay(5).Anaudiblesignalisemittedwhich,
dependingontheproximityandsize,isquieterorlouder.
False signals
Afalsesignalisanindicationofanallegedobject,eventhoughtheobjectisnotthere.Movethedetectionprobe(1)
severaltimesoverthepositionofthesignal.Ifthesignalisstrongandrepeatseasily,itismostlikelyanobject
hiddenintheground.Intheeventofirregularandinconsistentrepeatedsignals,itismostlikelyafalsesignal.
Anoscillatingsignalisusuallycausedbyexternalinterference(e.g.uorescenttubes,radios,electricalcablesand
other metal detectors). This cannot be eliminated by adjusting the settings.
Identifying false signals requires practice and experience.
c) Interference
False signals can occur for the following reasons:
The sensitivity is too high.
The metal detector was moved too quickly or at an incorrect angle.
The analogue display (5) indicated the wrong metal type.
There are several different metallic objects.
The object consists of an alloy that the metal detector cannot recognise.
The metallic object is heavily oxidised.
The sensitivity is too high.
Themorethepointerontheanaloguedisplay(5)moves,thelargertheobject(ortheshallowertheobjectfor
smaller objects).
The pointer on the analogue display (5) moves most strongly with highly conductive metals. If the pointer on the
analoguedisplay(5)doesnotmovesignicantlyeachtimethedetectionprobeismovedovertheareathatyou
suspectmaycontainanobject,thisprobablyindicatesthatthereisonlyscrapmetal.
The success/accuracy of the metal location depends on several factors. These include:
- The angle at which the object is inserted into the ground (detection plane)
- The depth of the object
- The object’s degree of oxidation
- The size of the object
- Electromagnetic and electrical interference (e.g. underground cables) in the vicinity of the object
Duetothesefactors,itisimportantthatyoufamiliariseyourselfwiththemetaldetectorandhowitrespondsbefore
attempting to search for objects.

d) Moving the metal detector when searching for objects
A professional movement pattern when locating metal requires practice to achieve success. Proceed as follows for
the best search results:
Movethedetectionprobeinwavylinesacrossthetargetarea.Seethegure
to the left.
Keep the detection probe (1) at a uniform height above the ground (approx.
3-5cm).Ideally,thedetectionprobe(1)shouldalwaysmoveparalleltothe
ground. Let the search width overlap somewhat (approx. 50 %).
Never move the detection probe as if it were a pendulum. Pendulum

to the ground change in an arc thereby changing the detection of the metal
detector. Only oscillate the detection probe (1) if you are searching in ground
depressionsordips,inordertoremainparalleltotheground.
Swinging or lifting the detection probe will result in incorrect detection results
(seetheguretotheleft).
Move the detection probe slowly in order to ensure that all small objects are detected.
e) Isolating the detected object
Witha littlepractice, youcanidentifyanobject’spreciselocation. Ifthe detection
coilndsahiddenobject,holdthedetectionprobe(1)preciselyabovethisposition.
Move the detection probe (1) forwards and backwards and from side to side in
increasingly small movements. Mark the route accordingly. Remember where the
detector generates a signal and systematically circle in on the location with ever
smaller movements. Repeat the whole process at an angle that crosses the initial
searchdirection.Theintersectionpointofbothlines,asinahaircross,indicatesthe
highest signal intensity. It is the starting point for the signal from the located object.
f) Using headphones
The control unit (13) contains a loudspeaker as well as a 3.5 mm headphone jack (10). The loudspeaker usually emits
theaudiblesignals.Whenheadphonesareconnected,theintegratedloudspeakerisswitchedoff.
Whenheadphonesareconnected,movetheVOLUME dial (6) anticlockwise as far as it will go before
switchingthedeviceon.Otherwise,thereisariskofdamagetoyourhearingduetohighvolume.
Connect your headphones to the 3.5 mm headphone jack (10) in the control unit (13).
The external loudspeaker is switched off. Adjust the volume slowly and carefully to a safe level. You will now hear
the location/detection signals in the headphones only.
Connection of suitable headphones saves power and thus increases the life of the batteries. It is also easier
to hear the changes in signals when searching by ear.

13. Troubleshooting

14. Care, cleaning and maintenance
Neveruseaggressivedetergents,rubbingalcoholorotherchemicalsolutions,asthesecoulddamagethe
casing or stop the product from functioning properly.
Themetaldetectordoes notrequiremaintenance.In the eventofa malfunction, changethebatteriesrst. If
thefaultpersists,contactyourresponsibleservicecentre.Repairormaintenanceworkmustbecarriedoutbya
technician or a specialist repair centre.
Always disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning it. Remove the batteries.
Cleantheproductwithaslightlydampcloth.Ifyouhaveusedthemetaldetectorinwater,wipeitdrywithaclean
cloth.
Useadry,lint-freeclothtocleantheexteriorcasing.
Donotpresstoohardonthedisplay,asthiscanleadtoscratchmarks.
