CD-RW Recorder CD-RW4U

The CD-RW4U is the first CD-R-/CD-RW recorder from

Tascam that can be used both as an independent audio

recorder and a practical CD-RW drive on a Macintosh or

Windows computer. In recording studios and small radio

stations, for example, it can be used for generating audio

CDs directly from the mixing desk or for copying CDs from

other media such as DAT, MD or CD. On the other hand, it

can be used as an external CD drive on a computer for

playing and recording audio or data CDs, with a single USB

terminal for transferring the entire data including audio

material.

The CD-RW4U offers a host of useful features which are

not found in conventional CD burners. For example, it has

a sample rate converter for recording digital audio sources

which have different sampling frequencies than a standard

CD (44.1 kHz), analogue and digital input level controls, a

recording buffer which guarantees that even the first

milliseconds of a track are recorded, and a convenient

”multi-dial” which makes it easier to set and confirm para-

meters. Audio material can be manually or automatically

divided into tracks (auto track function), fade-in and fade-

out over a given time interval is actuated at the touch of a

button, and, last but not least, a wireless remote control

facilitates easy operation of the CD-RW4U from various

locations.

The CD-RW4U has asymmetric analogue inputs and

outputs for connecting semi-professional audio equip-

ment. 20-bit D/A and A/D converters guarantee excellent

quality recording and fidelity. The system is also fitted with

coaxial digital inputs and outputs for recording and play-

back on suitably equipped digital audio equipment.

The CD-RW4U is the perfect synthesis for processing and

storing important audio material and electronic data.
