this device may be damaged.
Use accessories delivered with this device. The voltage must meet input voltage
requirements for this device.
If this device is installed in places with unsteady voltage, ground this device to
discharge high energy such as electrical surges in order to prevent the power supply
from burning out.
When this device is in use, ensure that no water or any liquid flows into the device.
If water or liquid unexpectedly flows into the device, immediately power off the
device and disconnect all cables (such as power cables and network cables) from
this device.
Do not focus strong light (such as lighted bulbs or sunlight) on this device.
Otherwise, the service life of the image sensor may be shortened.
If this device is installed in places where thunder and lightning frequently occur,
ground the device nearby to discharge high energy such as thunder strikes in order
to prevent device damage.
Avoid heavy loads, intensive shakes, and soaking to prevent damages during
transportation and storage. The warranty does not cover any device damage that is
caused during secondary packaging and transportation after the original packaging
is taken apart.
Protect this device from fall-down and intensive strikes, keep the device away from
magnetic field interference, and do not install the device in places with shaking
surfaces or under shocks.
Clean the device with a soft dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, dip the cloth into slight
neutral cleanser, gently wipe the dirt with the cloth, and then dry the device.
Do not jam the ventilation opening. Follow the installation instructions provided in
this document when installing the device.
Keep the device away from heat sources such as radiators, electric heaters, or other
heat equipment.
Keep the device away from moist, dusty, extremely hot or cold places, or places
with strong electric radiation.
If the device is installed outdoors, take insect- and moisture-proof measures to

2 NVR Networking
The NVR has two network ports, that is, LAN1 and LAN2. Two networking solutions
are supported, namely camera private networking mode and free networking mode.
Solution 1: Camera Private Networking Mode
A private network for cameras includes only IP cameras and NVRs and does not
include other network devices. The network is especially used to transmit audio and
video of NVRs and IP cameras. The private network for cameras must be connected to
LAN2 of the NVR and the function of private network for cameras must be enabled on
LAN2 (by default, it is enabled upon delivery). For details of the configuration, see
quick setup in the NVR User Manual. The NVR can be accessed through LAN1.
After the function of private network for cameras is enabled on LAN2, the NVR will
perform the following operation:
Enabling the DHCP service and automatically assigning IP addresses to IP cameras
(the DHCP function is enabled on the IP cameras).
Automatically searching for IP cameras in the network.
Automatically adding searched IP cameras and enabling 7*24-hour recording.
Figure 2-1 shows the topology of the private network for cameras.

Solution 2: Free Networking Mode
A free network includes other network devices in addition to IP cameras and NVRs.
The topology of a free network can be organized freely so long as NVRs and IP
cameras can communicate with each other smoothly. When a free network is used, the
function of private network for cameras must be disabled on LAN2.
When a free network is used, the user needs to manually search for and add IP cameras.
For details, see Chapter 5 "Quick Setup".
Figure 2-2 shows the topology of a free network.

3.1 Precautions
Formatting will clear all video data on the hard disk. Use this function only when
necessary.
Be sure to uninstall the hard disk before removing it from the NVR during runtime;
otherwise, the hard disk may be damaged or data may be lost.
The NVR must be connected to a stable power supply during runtime; otherwise,
the hard disk may be damaged or data may be lost.
The maximum capacity of a single hard disk cannot exceed 4 TB.
To achieve a balanced performance, more than two pieces of hard disk are
recommended.
3.2 Hard Disk Recommendation
Seagate or Western Digital hard disks which are highly stable and inexpensive are
recommended.

3.4 Hard Disk Installation
To install hard disks of the NVR, perform the following steps:
Step 1 Remove the six screws for fixing the cover and take down the cover, as shown in
Figure 3-1.

Step 2 Remove the two screws on the side and take down the support for fixing hard disks at
the upper layer, as shown in Figure 3-2.

Step 3 Install hard disks at the bottom layer first. Push the hard disks inwards based on slots
and make them coincide with the PCB SATA interface, as shown in Figure 3-3.

Step 4 Fasten the four screws, as shown in Figure 3-4.

Step 5 Install the support for fixing hard disks at the bottom layer, which is removed in step 2,
as shown in Figure 3-5.

Step 6 Install hard disks at the upper layer in the same way and put on the cover.
If the support for fixing hard disks at the upper layer is not removed, the screws for fixing
hard disks at the bottom layer cannot be removed or fastened.

In the preceding table, interfaces 4, 5 and 9 are reserved in design and the NVR does not
enable the interfaces currently.
4.3 Startup
Please connect a power supply properly and open the power switch on the rear panel,
the NVR will automatically power-on. When the NVR is connected to a power supply,
press the Power key on the front panel, the NVR starts to power-on.
Before starting the NVR, ensure that the NVR is connected to a power supply properly
and a monitor is connected to the HDMI or VGA interface of the NVR correctly.
When the NVR is started, the power indicator becomes steady on and the NVR starts a
self-test and displays the test result on the screen. The startup process takes about 2
minutes.
When a hardware abnormality is detected, the self-test screen stays on. You can click
continue or shutdown in the lower right corner of the screen. If you click continue,
the NVR enters the login screen.
The hard disk of the NVR must be provided by the user. Hard disk detection is performed
during startup. If the detection fails, possible causes include
The hard disk is new and unformatted. In this case, format the hard disk based on chapter

The hard disk is formatted, but the file system is inconsistent with the one supported by
the NVR.
The hard disk is damaged.
4.4 Shutdown
If you have not logged in to the NVR, press the POWER button in the front panel for
more than 3s. The NVR starts to shut down. When the power indicator on the front
panel is off, the NVR is shut down successfully.
If you have logged in to the NVR, click in the upper right part or press the
POWER button for more than 3s. The shutdown page is displayed, as shown in Figure
4-3.

During power-off, the system prompts Powering Off. In this case, do not
disconnect the power supply.
When the NVR is working, try to avoid disconnecting the power supply by directly
pressing the POWER button on the rear panel or removing the power cable.
In some environments, if the power supply is abnormal, the NVR may not work
properly. In severe cases, the NVR may be damaged. In these environments, you
are advised to use regulated power supply.

Enter the password and click Shutdown. After you pass the identity authentication, the
message "Are you sure to shut down?" is displayed. Click Yes. The NVR starts to shut
down.

5 Quick Setup
Quick setup put together some common functions so as to facilitate configuration and
management for the NVR. It provides network configuration, hard disk management,
date and time setting, search for IP cameras, and recording configuration for the NVR
as well as quick configuration functions such as network configuration, stream
configuration, and motion detection configuration for cameras. Enter the quick setup
page, as shown in Figure 5-1.
