You can carry the kayak using the front, rear or

The best way to transport your kayak is
with the help of a fellow kayaker.
USING YOUR KAYAK CARRIER KIT:
1. Place foam pads on car roof.
2. Position kayak on foam pads.
3. Using medium length straps and hooks, tightly
secure kayak to front and rear of vehicle at secure
fastening points.
4. Use extra long straps to tighten kayak by opening
vehicle doors and running straps through inside
vehicle and over kayak. Thread free end of strap
through buckle and tighten.
5. Tighten all straps until foam pads compress
tightly on car roof. Close all vehicle doors.
6. Kayak should stay snug to roof when pushed
sideways. If pads slip when pushed on, retighten
all straps.

feet on the graduated foot wells or adjustable foot
rests.
It is important to wear an approved life-jacket or a

equipment on board (spare paddle, first aid kit,

Before heading to the water make sure that all
drain plugs are closed.

severe winds, rain, thunderstorms,
choppy waters, strong currents,
flood waters, or where tides will
seriously affect your ability to steer
your kayak back to shore.
It is important to wear an approved life-jacket
or a personal floatation device. The following
list of equipment will make your experience safer
and more enjoyable.
Spare Paddle

SAFETY MEASURES AND WARNING
11
All paddle sports can be dangerous and physically
challenging. Paddle sports can cause serious injuries or
death if appropriate safety measures are not followed. The
user assumes all risks and accepts all & any responsibi-
lity for any damage or injury that may occur. Equinox
shall have no liability whatsoever for any personal
injury, accident or consequential damages.
We recommend that you receive instruction in proper
paddling techniques, safety and security on the water and
first aid techniques before using your kayak.
Our Owner’s Manual gives you a summary of the important
points to follow for a pleasant and safe experience.
Hypothermia
Hypothermia is a dangerous drop in the body’s core
temperature below the normal level (37˚C or 98.6˚F). Marine
accidents are very dangerous and can be more so if you are
poorly prepared for the cold water.
Location
Before setting out, make sure you are familiar with your
surroundings. Be aware of permitted navigation hours, emergen-
cy services, and locate the danger zones.
Physical Capacity
Realistically evaluate your physical capacities and resistance
should you have to swim to the shore.
Slippery Hull
Your kayak becomes extremely slippery when wet. Therefore, it is
recommended that you wear slip-resistant shoes and that you
remain in the middle of your kayak at all times.
Do not stand in your kayak
Your kayak may capsize if you sant in it.
Children
Never allow children to kayak without adult supervision.
Coast guard regulations
Always abide by Coast Guard regulations, State and local laws,
ordinances, and rules concerning boating and boating safety.
Your kayak was designed for calm water; it was not designed for rapids or white water
12
Maintenance
Storage
Warning
The best way to clean your kayak is with water. However,
with tougher stains you can use some soft soap and a
non-abrasive plastic brush.
The easiest way to store your kayak is to sit it on a flat
surface. If your kayak remains outdoors, you should keep it
covered and out of direct sunlight. Do not leave any straps
tightly clinched around your kayak for long periods, espe-
cially in warm weather. This can distort the shape of the
kayak.
You may find an accumulation of water between the hull and
the deck due to paddle handling, rain, or condensation.
Future Beach kayaks are equipped with drain plugs to
remove this accumulated water. Make sure the drain plug is
closed before putting the kayak on the water.
To empty the water from your kayak,
remove the drain plug and prop up the
kayak vertically on its stern
