SECTION 1: GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION
Read and understand all safety and operating instructions provided before
using this apparatus. RETAIN THESE INSTRUCTIONS NEARBY FOR FUTURE
REFERENCE.
1.01 FIRE PREVENTION
Welding and cutting operations use re or combustion as a basic tool. The process
is very useful when properly controlled. However, it can be extremely destructive
if not performed correctly in the proper environment:
1. The work area must have a reproof oor.
2. Work benches or tables used during welding or cutting operations must have
reproof tops.
3. Use heat resistant shields or other approved material to protect nearby walls
or unprotected ooring from sparks and hot metal.
4. Keep an approved re extinguisher of the proper size and type in the work
area. Inspect it regularly to ensure that it is in proper working order. Know
how to use the re extinguisher.
5. Move combustible materials away from the work site. If you can not move
them, protect them with reproof covers.

WARNING
NEVER perform welding, heating, or cutting operations on a
container that has held toxic, combustible, or ammable liq uids, or
vapors. NEVER perform welding, heating, or cutting operations in an
area containing combustible vapors, am mable liquids, or explosive
dust. NEVER perform welding, heating, or cutting operations on a
closed container or vessel, which may explode when heated.

1.02 VENTILATION
!
WARNING
Ventilate welding, heating, and cutting work areas ade quately to
prevent accumulation of explosive or toxic concen trations of gases.
Certain combinations of metals, coatings, and gases generate toxic
fumes. Use respiratory protection equipment in these circumstances.
When welding/brazing, read and understand the Material Safety Data
Sheet for the welding/brazing alloy.
1.03 PERSONAL PROTECTION
Gas ames produce infrared radiation which may have a harm ful eect on the skin
and especially on the eyes. Select goggles or a mask with tempered lenses shaded
3 or darker to protect your eyes from injury and provide good visibility of the work.
Always wear protective gloves and ame resistant clothing to protect skin and
clothing from sparks and slag. Keep collars, sleeves and pockets buttoned. DO
NOT roll up sleeves or cu pants.

harm. Wash hands after handling.

1.04 PRÉVENTION D’INCENDIE

peut être extrêmement destructeur s’il n’est pas eectué correctement dans le
bon environnement.
1. La zone de travail doit avoir un sol ininammable.
2. Les établis ou les tables utilisés pendant le soudage ou le coupage doivent
avoir des surfaces ininammables.
3. Utiliser des écrans résistants à la chaleur ou tout autre matériau approuvé
pour protéger les murs avoisinants ou les sols non protégés des étincelles
et du métal brûlant.
4. Garder un extincteur approuvé de la bonne dimension et du bon type dans
la zone de travail. Linspecter régulièrement pour s’assurer qu’il soit en bon
état de marche. Savoir comment l’utiliser.
5. Éloigner les matériaux combustibles de la zone de travail. S’ils ne peuvent
pas être déplacés, les protéger avec des couvertures ignifugées.

1.05 AÉRATION

Aérer suffisamment les zones de coupage et de soudage pour
éviter l’accumulation ou la concentration explosive ou toxique de
gaz. Certaines combinaisons de métaux, de revêtements et de gaz
génèrent des vapeurs toxiques. Utiliser un équipement de protection
respiratoire dans ces circonstances. Lors du soudage ou du brasage,
lire attentivement la che signalétique du matériau pour l’alliage de
soudage ou de brasage.
1.06 PROTECTION PERSONNELLE
Les ammes de gaz produisent des radiations infrarouges qui peuvent avoir un
eet dangereux sur la peau et particulièrement sur les yeux. Choisir des lunettes
de protection ou un masque avec des lentilles trempées de teinte 5 ou plus foncée
pour protéger les yeux des blessures et assurer une bonne visibilité de la pièce.
Toujours porter des gants protecteurs et des vêtements ignifugés pour protéger la
peau et les vêtements des étincelles et des scories. Garder les cols, les manches et
les poches boutonnés. NE PAS remonter les manches ni les revers de pantalon.

1.07 PREVENCIÓN DE INCENDIOS

1.08 VENTILACIÓN

SECTION 2: INTRODUCTION
This booklet is a guide to the safe and ecient operation of a propane, MAPP,
and MAP//Pro
brazing / soldering apparatus. If the apparatus is not used in an
propane, MAP//Pro
TM
or MAPP brazing / soldering application, the operator must
still follow those safety and operating procedures that do apply to that particular
applica tion. Read this booklet thoroughly and carefully before operating this
equipment.
A system of notes, cautions, and warnings emphasize impor tant safety and
operating information in this booklet. These are:

DO NOT attempt to use this apparatus unless you are trained in
its proper use or are under competent supervision. For your safety,
practice the safety and operating procedures described in this booklet
every time you use the apparatus. Deviating from these procedures
may result in re, explosion, property damage, and/or opera tor injury.
If at any time the apparatus you are using does not perform in its usual
manner, or you have any diculty in the use of the apparatus, STOP
using it immediately. DO NOT use the apparatus until the prob lem
has been corrected!

Service or repair of apparatus should be performed only by a
qualied repair technician capable of servicing gas apparatus in strict
accordance to applicable Part and Service bulletins for TurboTorch
manufactured products. Improper service repair, or modication
of the product could result in damage to the product or injury to
the operator.

1. Be sure the Trigger Lock is in the “OFF” position (Figure 6).
2. Install a Propane, MAPP
®
,or MAP//Pro
TM
container into the inlet
connections of the torch. Hold torch and tank upright; install tank
into torch inlet connection by turning tank counterclockwise until it is
attached securely (Figure 2). Check connection for leaks.

WARNING
This is a flame producing device using liquefied fuel gas under
pressure. Improper assembly, abuse, or misuse may allow the fuel to
leak. Before using, check all connections for leaks using a soapy-water
solution. Do this away from ames, sparks or spark producing devices.
DO NOT use ames to test for leaks. Test with pressure on low for no
more than 30 seconds at a time. If a leak is detected, retighten and
check again. DO NOT use if the leak can not be corrected. Return to
place of purchase. When disconnecting equipment from a fuel
cylinder, do so away from ames, sparks or smoking materials.
NOTE!
The use of acetylene or any fuel gas other than MAPP
®
, MAP//Pro
TM
,
or Propane with this torch may cause a re or explosion.
Use either 14.1 oz. Propane, 14.1 oz. MAP//Pro
TM
, or 16 oz. MAPP
cylinder with the torch. Read and follow the instructions on the
cylinder labels before using.

SECTION 4: LIGHTING THE TORCH
1. Squeeze trigger slowly, allowing gas to ow into Flametube. Continue
to squeeze trigger until torch lights.
2. If torch does NOT light, squeeze trigger again.
!
WARNING
Torch lights instantly and can ignite combustibles and / or cause
severe burn.
NOTE!
Extremely low or high ame settings are hard to ignite. A low ame
setting will cause the Flametube to overheat.
CORRECT ADJUSTMENT:
Compact ame - dark blue points
extending from tip about 1-1/2 tip
diameters beyond end of tip. Tip
remains cool.

Soft ame - pressure too low
to achieve proper mix. Tip will
overheat. Darker blue portion of

SECTION 5: OPERATING THE TORCH
1. Tip Interchangeability: Other tips are available for the air/fuel torch. Use
genuine replacement parts of the same brand.
NOTE!
Propane tips operate at 24 PSIG, a medium adjustment for R-LP regulators.
MAPP
®
tips operate at 42 PSIG, a full adjustment for R-LP regulators.
2. Heating Technique: The maximum heat zone of the air/fuel tip is very
concentrated. It is located between 1 and 2 tip diameters away from
the end of the tip (Figure 4).
If you hold the torch too close or too far away, there will be noticeably
less heat. The angle at which the heat is applied can also increase the
target heat (Figure 5).
3. Temperature Control: To reduce the heating eect of the air/fuel torch,
several approaches are recommended:
Move the ame farther away from the target.
Use propane fuel instead of MAPP
®
fuel.
Use smaller tips - if not included in your kit, smaller tips are available
as an option. ONLY use tips intended for the air/fuel torch.
NOTE!
DO NOT lower regulator pressure to reduce heat output. This will
cause the tip to overheat.

WARNING
Remember the torch tip may be HOT and can cause a burn if touched.

a) To obtain maximum target heat.

4. Trigger Lock - Engage:
a) Make sure the Lock Button is in the “ON” position and the torch is
burning (see Figure 6).
b) Pull the Trigger fully inward and push the Lock Button downward.
c) Hold the Lock Button and release the Trigger.
Trigger Lock - Disengage:
a) Pull the Trigger inward and the Lock Button will pop up.
b) Release the Trigger.

NOTE!
NEVER leave the torch unattended with ame burning.
5. Trigger Safety Lock - Engage:
a) Slightly push the Lock Button downward and turn.
b) Release downward force and continue to turn the Lock Button until
the “OFF” marking aligns with the Arrow. The Lock Button should
pop up.
c) The Trigger is now disabled.
Trigger Safety Lock - Disengage:
a) Slightly push the Lock Button downward and turn.
b) Release downward force and continue to turn the Lock Button until
the “ON” marking aligns with the Arrow. The Lock Button should
pop up.
6. Flaring: Operating the torch in an upside down position is not
recommended. Increased ame size, known as “aring”, can occur when
the torch is operated in an upside down position over a period of time at
cold temperatures (below 20˚F). Liquid fuel requires heat to change to
a gaseous state and upside down operation causes the regulator to cool
rapidly, thus liquid may enter the torch causing aring. This is especially
true with MAPP gas.
NOTE!
Flaring is usually preceded by noticeable sputtering or spitting of
the ame. Please follow steps 1-3 of Disassembly in Section 6 to
stop aring.
7. Swivel Tip Feature: While the torch is not in operation, the Tip Nut
may be loosened to swivel the Flametube to a desired position for a
preferred use. Retighten the Tip Nut hand-tight to lock into position.

SECTION 6: TORCH DISASSEMBLY AND STORAGE
6.01 DISASSEMBLY
1. Release the trigger to extinguish the ame.
2. In a well-ventilated area away from ame or source of ignition,
disconnect the fuel container by turning it counterclockwise.
3. Slightly pull the Trigger to vent the remaining fuel inside the torch.
NOTE!
Torch may light and momentarily burn the remaining gas.
6.02 STORAGE
1. After disassembly, position the Lock Button in the “OFF” position.

WARNING
Store the torch and fuel container in a well-ventilated area away
from any ame of source of ignition. Always separate torch and
fuel container after use. DO NOT store the tanks in a room used for
habitation, closed or conned space, near open ames, heaters, or
in direct sunlight. Protect tank and torch from damage. Keep out
of the reach of children.

SECTION 7: TORCH CLEANING
The Tip End and Orice may require periodic cleaning. This condition is
noticeable when the ame softens or has a change in appearance.

NOTE!
DO NOT attempt to clean orice with a wire or other object. Orice
hole may become enlarged which will cause air/fuel tip to operate
improperly.
1. Make sure the regulator is o. Remove the tip(s). Leave the fuel cylinder
attached to the regulator.
2. Remove the gasket(s) using a pick or small bent wire. Remove the orice
from the tip(s) using an 1/8" (0.3 cm) hex wrench.
3. Screw the orice into the end of the swivel stem on the regulator.

4. Turn on the gas in short bursts away from ames, sparks or smoking
materials. The pressure will blow the orice clean.
5. Remove the orice from the regulator swivel stem. Replace tip and
gasket. If using the dual tip attachment, you must repeat this procedure
for each orice.
6. Recheck for leaks before lighting the air/fuel torch.

SECTION 8: TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

SECTION 9: STATEMENT OF WARRANTY
LIMITED WARRANTY: Victor Technologies International, Inc. warrants that its products will be
free of defects in workmanship or material. Should any failure to conform to this warranty
appear within the time period applicable to the Victor Technologies products as stated below,
Victor Technologies shall, upon notication thereof and substantiation that the product has
been stored, installed, operated, and maintained in accordance with Victor Technologies’
specications, instructions, recommendations and recognized standard industry practice, and not
subject to misuse, repair, neglect, alteration, or accident, correct such defects by suitable repair
or replacement, at Victor Technologies’ sole option, of any components or parts of the product
determined by Victor Technologies to be defective.
THIS WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE AND IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,
INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: Victor Technologies shall not under any circumstances be liable for
special or consequential damages, such as, but not limited to, damage or loss of purchased or
replacement goods, or claims of customers of distributor (hereinafter the “Purchaser”) for service
interruption. The remedies of the Purchaser set forth herein are exclusive and the liability of
Victor Technologies with respect to any contract, or anything done in connection therewith
such as the performance or breach thereof, or from the manufacture, sale, delivery, resale, or
use of any goods covered by or furnished by Victor Technologies whether arising out of contract,
negligence, strict tort, or under any warranty, or otherwise, shall not, except as expressly
provided herein, exceed the price of the goods upon which such liability is based.
THIS WARRANTY BECOMES INVALID IF REPLACEMENT PARTS OR ACCESSORIES ARE USED WHICH
MAY IMPAIR THE SAFETY OR PERFORMANCE OF ANY VICTOR TECHNOLOGIES PRODUCT.
THIS WARRANTY IS INVALID IF THE PRODUCT IS SOLD BY NON-AUTHORIZED PERSONS.
This warranty is eective for the time stated in the Warranty Schedule beginning on the date that
the authorized distributor delivers the products to the Purchaser.
Warranty repairs or replacement claims under this limited warranty must be submitted by
an authorized Victor Technologies repair facility within thirty (30) days of the repair. No
transportation costs of any kind will be paid under this warranty. Transportation charges to send
products to an authorized warranty repair facility shall be the responsibility of the Purchaser. All
returned goods shall be at the Purchaser’s risk and expense. This warranty supersedes all previous
Victor Technologies warranties.
