1.1 About the DMX to RS unit
Overview
The projector ha s no connection for DMX and cann ot be controlled via lighting d esk or other DMX contr
olling devices. With the
introduction of the DMX to RS unit, DMX control of the projector is m ade possible. This unit can be connected to the RS232 input of
the projector or for FLM only, wh en there is still an empty input slot, it can be inserted in that input slot.
Philosophy
We made this product to make it easier to integrate a Barco Projector into a show environment by integrate it with a lighting controller
over DMX when used together with a MediaServer or M oving Mirror.
Limitation
Since the DMX RS was done long after the hardware of the Projectors, there are a few facts that are directly related to the hardware
design
Information
Please do not ex pect the Projector to respond in the same way a moving light d oes. This is because of the hardware limitation. T he
chart b elow will giv e you some indications in order to und erstand the delay. Please use the u nit and get to know the per sonality of
it, and w e are sure you will enjoy it

You can use the DMX in port to connect a DMX dev ice or lighting console. T his way you can control the projector from a lighting
console.
The DM X out port can be connected to the next device in the daisy chain. The DM X output port is a pas sive loop through and is
functional even w hen the dev ice is not powered.

DMX address
Before a projector can execute DM X comm ands, a unique address should be given to the projector. T hat address can vary from 1
to 512.
To set a DM X address, turn the 3 knobs until the desired address is reached. The left knob is for the hundreds
, the m iddle one for
the tens and the right one for the units.
DMX mode
Use the DIP switches to set the correct mode for the projector.

1.7 DMX to RS unit with an FLM projector
What should be done ?
The DMX to RS unit can be fully integrated in the input slot 4 of the input and com munication unit. To integrate th e DM X unit, check
rst if the extra cable is already mounted in your projector. If not, an extra wire set must be mounted inside the communication
interface unit. To check if the extra connector is available, just open the c over of input s lot 4. The connector with wires mus t be
visible. If not available, follow the next proc edure.
WARNING: Before starting the procedure, switch off the projector and unplug the power cord from the wall
outle t.
WARNING: The procedure may only be performed by trained and Barco authorized t ech nicians.
CAUTION: Wear a wrist band which is connected to the ground while handling the electrostatic discharge
sensitive parts.
Preparing the communication interface.
1. Loosen the 8 xation screws and pull out the com mun ication interface.
2. Pull the wires of the delivered cable through the hole in the upper right corner.

Barco DMX adapter Installation guide

Type
Installation guide

Barco DMX adapter enables DMX (Digital Multiplex) control of Barco projectors that do not have a dedicated DMX connection. It allows users to integrate their projectors into lighting control systems and operate them using a lighting desk or other DMX controlling devices. With the DMX adapter, users can control various projector functions such as intensity, brightness, contrast, input selection, and lens positioning.
