8. USE RIGHT TOOL. Don’t force the tool or
the attachment to do a job for which it was
not designed.
9. WEAR PROPER APPAREL. Do not wear
loose clothing, gloves, neckties or jewelry
(rings, watch) because they could get
caught in moving parts. Non-slip footwear
is recommended. Wear protective hair
covering to contain long hair. Roll up long
sleeves above the elbows.
10. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.
Always wear safety glasses (ANSI
Z87.1). Everyday eyeglasses only have
impact resistant lenses, they are NOT
safety glasses. Also use a face or dust
mask if cutting operation is dusty.
11. DON’T OVERREACH. Keep proper foot-
ing and balance at all times.
12. MAINTAIN TOOL WITH CARE. Keep
tools sharp and clean for best and safest

sary to stand on the tool to reach them.
16. CHECK DAMAGED PARTS. Before fur-
ther use of the tool, a guard or other parts
that are damaged should be carefully
checked to ensure that they will operate
properly and perform their intended func-
tion. Check for alignment of moving parts,
breakage of parts, mounting, and any
other conditions that may affect its oper-
ation. A guard or other parts that are
damaged should be properly repaired or
replaced.
17. NEVER LEAVE MACHINE RUNNING
UNATTENDED. Turn power ’OFF’’.
Don’t leave any tool running until it
comes to a complete stop.
SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
FOR CIRCULAR SAWS
Snagging the lower guard on a surface
below the material being cut can momentar-
ily reduce operator control. The saw can lift
partially out of the cut increasing the chance
of blade twist. Make sure there is sufficient
clearence under the workpiece.
DANGER! KEEP HANDS AWAY FROM
CUTTING AREA. Keep hands away from
the blade. Never place hands infront or be-
hind the path of the blade while cutting.
Keep your second hand on the auxiliary han-
dle or motor housing. If both hands are hold-
ing the saw, they can not be cut by the
blade.
•SUPPORT LARGE PANELS. Large panels
must be supported to minimize the risk of
blade pinching and kickback.
• ADJUSTMENTS. Before cutting, be sure
the depth and bevel adjustments are tight.
•DANGER! RELEASE SWITCH IMMEDI-
ATELY IF THE BLADE BINDS OR IF THE
CIRCULAR SAW STALLS.
Keep your body positioned to either side of
the saw blade, but not in line with the saw
blade. A kickback could cause the saw to
jump backwards.
Do not reach underneath the workpiece.
The guard cannot protect you from the
blade below the workpiece.
Check lower guard for proper closing be-
fore each use. Do not operate saw if lower
guard does not move freely and close in-
stantly. Never clamp or tie the lower guard
into the open position.
The lower guard should be retracted
manually only for special cuts such as
“Pocket Cuts & Compound Cuts”. Raise
the lower guard using the retracting lever.
As soon as the blade enters the material,
the lower guard must be released.
Never hold piece being cut in your hands
or across your leg(s). It is important to sup-
port the workpiece properly to minimize
body exposure, blade binding, or loss of
control.
When ripping, always use the straight edge
guide. This improves the accuracy of the
cut and reduces the chance of blade bid-
ding.
Never use damaged or incorrect blade
washer and bolt. The blade washer and
bolt were specially designed for your saw,
for optimum performance and safety of op-
eration.
ELECTRICAL INFORMATION
WARNING: The warnings, cautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction manual
cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood
by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into this
product, but must be supplied by the operator. Performance of this tool may vary depending
on variations in local line voltage. Extension cord usage may also affect tool performance.
VOLTAGE WARNING
Before connecting the tool to a power source (receptacle, outlet, ect.) be sure the voltage
supplied is the same as that specified on the nameplate of the tool. If one says 120V and
the other says 115V then there will be no complications. Never try to plug a 120V tool into
a 240V outlet, or the other way around. A voltage greater than that specified on the tool
can result in SERIOUS INJURY to the user, as well as damage to the tool. If in doubt, DO
NOT PLUG IN THE TOOL.
WARNING: YOUR CIRCULAR SAW MUST BE CONNECTED TO A 120V, 15-AMP,
BRANCH CIRCUIT BREAKER. FAILURE TO CONNECT IN THIS WAY CAN RESULT IN
INJURY FROM SHOCK OR FIRE.
DOUbLE INSULATION
Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized
two-prong plug (one blade is wider than the other).
This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If
the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the
plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician
to install a polarized outlet. Do not alter or change the
plug in any way. Double insulation eliminates the need
for three wire grounded power supply and grounded
power cords.
ExTENSION CORDS
Improper use of extension cords may cause in-
efficient operation of your tool which can result in
overheating. Be sure your extension cord is rated
to allow sufficient current flow to the motor. If you
are using the tool outdoors, use an extension
cord rated for outdoor use (signified by “WA” on
the jacket).
The extension cord must have a minimum wire
size depending on the amperage of the tool and the length of the extension cord. This size
is determined by its AWG (American Wire Gauge) rating. The smaller the gauge, the greater
the cable’s capacity. The amount of cords used does not matter: Total length determines
the minimum AWG rating. Every cord must meet the AWG rating. Use the chart in Fig.2 to
determine what AWG rating is required for your situation.

CAUSES & OPERATOR PREVENTION
OF KICKbACK
CAUSES & OPERATOR PREVENTION
OF KICKbACK
Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched,
bound or misaligned saw blade, causing
an uncontrolled saw to lift up and out of
the workpiece toward the operator.
When the blade is pinched or bound
tightly by the kerf closing down, the blade
stalls and the motor reaction drives the
unit rapidely back toward the operator.
If the blade becomes twisted or misaligned
in the cut, the teeth at the back edge of
the blade can dig into the top surface of
the wood causing the blade to climb out
of the kerf and jump back at the operator.
Kickback is the result of tool misuse and/or
incorrect operating procedures or condi-
tions and can be avoided by taking proper
precautions as given below.
Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the
saw and position your body and arm to
allow you to resist Kickback forces. Kick-
back forces can be controlled by the op-
erator if proper precautions are taken.
• When blade is binding or when interrup-
ting a cut for any reason, release the
trigger and hold the saw motionless in the
material until the blade comes to a com-
plete stop. Never attempt to remove the
saw from the work or pull the saw back-
ward while the blade is in motion or Kick-
back may occur. Investigate and take
corrective measures to eliminate the
cause of blade binding.
When restarting a saw in the workpiece,
center the saw blade in the kerf and
check that the saw teeth are not engaged
into the material. If the saw blade is bind-
ing it may walk up or Kickback from the
workpiece as the saw is restarted.
Support large panels to minimize the risk
of blade pinching and Kickback. Large
panels tend to sag under their own
weight. Support must be placed under the
panel on both sides, near the line of cut
and near the edge of the panel.
Do not use dull or damaged blade. Un-
sharpened or improperly set blades pro-
duce narrow kerf causing excessive
friction, blade binding and Kickback.
Blade depth and bevel adjusting locking
levers must be tight and secure before
making cut. If blade adjustment shifts
while cutting, it may cause binding and
Kickback.
Use extra caution when making a “Pocket
Cut” into existing walls or other blind areas.
The protruding blade may cut objects that
can cause Kickback.
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF KICKbACK:
Keep a firm grip on the saw with both
hands at all times.
Stay alert-exercise control.
Support long overhanging materials. As the
material is cut and weakens, it will sag,
causing a pinched blade.
Support large panels. Material supported
only at the ends will to blade pinching.
ASSEMbLY/ADJUSTMENTS
Warning! Always unplug saw from power
source before any of the following operations
or instructions.
ATTACHING bLADE
Note: The first time the blade cap screw (C)
Fig.3 is removed from saw without a blade in-
stalled, it may be necessary to place the
blade hex. key on the cap screw head and
tap it sharply in the counterclockwise direc-
tion. Retract lower blade guard and position
the blade (A) Fig.3 and outer washer (B) on
the saw arbor shaft. Make sure the large sur-
face of outer washer (B) is toward blade. To
prevent blade rotation while tightening the
blade cap screw, you can raise the lower
guard and place the saw down on a piece of
scrap wood. The blade teeth will dig into the
scrap and prevent rotation while you tighten
the blade clamping bolt, or you can press the
spindle lock lever (A) Fig.4 to lock the arbor
shaft. Tighten blade cap screw (C) Fig.3 se-
curely using the supplied 6mm hex. key.
ATTACHING EDGE GUIDE
Unscrew the edge guide lock knob (A) Fig.5
on the base plate (B). Slide the edge guide
(C) in the slots (D). Set a desired width and
retighten the edge guide lock knob (A).
SETTING THE bEVEL ANGLE
Adjust the bevel angle by loosening the bevel
adjustment knob (E) Fig.5, use the bevel scale
(F) as a guide and tilt the base to the desired
bevel angle. Retighten bevel adjustment knob.

FIGURE 4
FIGURE 5
SETTING THE CUTTING DEPTH
Adjust depth of cut by lifting the depth lever (A)
Fig.6 upwards, set the base to the desired
depth. Lower the depth lever to secure the
depth adjustment.
TURNING SAW ON
This saw comes with a safety feature which
prevents accidental starts. To turn the saw on,
press and hold the safety button (A) Fig.7 and
then pull on the trigger (B).
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
TURN OFF AND UNPLUG THE SAW WHEN
PERFORMING ANY CLEANING OR OTHER
MAINTENANCE.
Regular cleaning is required for the safe oper-
ation of the tool, as an excessive build up
of dust will prevent the tool from operating
correctly.
Keep the cooling vents on the motor
housing clean and unobstructed at all times.
Never use any caustic agents or solvents to clean the plastic parts. Use only mild soap
and a damp cloth to clean the tool. Never let any liquid get inside the saw, never immerse
any part of the saw into a liquid.
blades
Always use a sharp blade. If the tool does not cut as well as expected or if it overheats
the most common cause is a blunt blade. It is difficult to see or feel if the blade is blunt.
When in doubt use a new blade.
• Replacement blades are available at your nearest distributor of King Canada products.
IMPORTANT: To assure product safety and reliability, repairs, maintenance and adjustment
should be performed by one of our authorized service centers or other qualified service
technicians, as always using identical replacement parts.
