Instructions for use
Congratulations on your new Conquest riflescope. It is fitted with
high quality optics and precision product engineering to provide you
with the highest possible level of accuracy and ease of use.
The Carl Zeiss brand is famous for outstanding optical achievements,
precision workmanship and long service life. Please observe the fol-
lowing instructions for use in order to obtain the best performance
from your riflescope and to ensure that it remains your constant
companion for many years to come.
Focusing
The riflescope is focused by turning eyepiece (3). It is advisable to focus at
maximum power. The image will then remain sharp within the entire
power range. Please note that, for target ranges below 100 yards, it is not
possible to simultaneously focus the reticle and the image at high powers
in the Conquest 3 – 9x40 MC and Conquest 3.5 – 10x44 MC riflescopes,
as these Conquest riflescopes have been set parallax-free for 100 yards
(91.4 m). If the target ranges are markedly shorter than 100 yards, we
recommend using a lower power. Due to the increased depth of field at
lower magnifications, the reticle and the image will then appear sharp
again. There will be no parallax-induced shifts in the point of impact at
short or long ranges if you look exactly through the center of the rifle-
scope. To protect you from injury (e.g. with heavy-recoil weapons), the
eyepiece is provided with rubber ring (4).
Parallax adjustment
The Conquest 4.5 – 14x44 MC, 4.5 – 14x50 MC, 6.5 – 20x50 MC rifle-
scopes also provides a parallax adjustment. By turning dial (5), you can
adjust any range between 30 yards (27.5 m) to infinity.
The ranges (6.5 – 20x50 MC = 50 yards – ∞) 30; 50; 100; 200; 400 and
800 yards and the infinity setting are indicated by the corresponding figures.
Note: The Conquest 4x32 MC, 2.5 – 8x32 MC, 1.8 – 5.5x38 MC and
3 – 9x40 MC are available with 50 and 100 yard set parallax options.

Congratulations on your new Conquest riflescope. It is fitted with
high quality optics and precision product engineering to provide you
with the highest possible level of accuracy and ease of use.
The Carl Zeiss brand is famous for outstanding optical achievements,

lowing instructions for use in order to obtain the best performance
from your riflescope and to ensure that it remains your constant

Focusing
The riflescope is focused by turning eyepiece (3). It is advisable to focus at
maximum power. The image will then remain sharp within the entire
power range. Please note that, for target ranges below 100 yards, it is not
possible to simultaneously focus the reticle and the image at high powers
in the Conquest 3 – 9x40 MC and Conquest 3.5 – 10x44 MC riflescopes,
as these Conquest riflescopes have been set parallax-free for 100 yards
(91.4 m). If the target ranges are markedly shorter than 100 yards, we

Sealing
The riflescope is water-tight, pressure-tested in compliance with DIN 58390-80
and filled with nitrogen. Proper sealing is also guaranteed when screw caps
(1) of the windage and elevation adjustments have been removed. However,
always make sure that caps (1) and sealing rings (11) are firmly seated. Change
any damaged sealing rings. (Please contact the Zeiss Customer Service Dept.
for repair instructions.)
Reticle
Your riflescope is equipped with a reticle of your choice. The reticles of all
Conquest riflescopes (except the 3 – 12 x 56) are located in the second image
plane. In these riflescopes, only the size of the target changes when the
power is changed, and not the reticle size. For this reason, range estimation
with the reticles in the second image plane must always be conducted on a
consistent power.
Reticle change
All riflescopes of the Conquest line can be fitted subsequently with other
reticles. To have the reticle changed, send in the riflescope to the Zeiss service
department along with the requested information.
(Please contact the Zeiss customer service department for the necessary return
instructions.) Available reticles for each Conquest model may be viewed at
www.zeiss.com/sports or by requesting a Conquest Technical Overview bro-
chure from the Zeiss customer service department.
Hunting turrets
All Conquest models with tactical turrets are available with a hunting turret
model option. Please check windage and elevation specifications in this
manual for any potential differences.
Power change
Depending on the riflescope type, you can continuously adjust all powers be-
tween the lowest and the highest magnification settings. Change the power by
turning the adjusting ring (2) on the eyepiece. The full power steps are marked
by figures on the magnification ring. A tip for the use of the riflescope in
twilight or at night: Turn the changer fully counter clockwise to set maximum
power, and fully clockwise to set minimum power.

You can adjust the reticle in elevation and windage by turning the dials (13)
and (14). In the riflescopes of the Conquest MC line, one click corresponds to
1/4 inch at 100 yards (0.7 mm at 100 m). Please see the “Sighting in” chapter
at the beginning of this description. Please note the different numbers of the
dials.
New: The following setting makes it easier to subsequently determine
the position of the reticle adjustment:
After sighting-in, loosen screw (15) all the way. Pull up elevation dial (13)
and turn the zero mark to the index mark on the tube body without turning
the click-stop mechanism. Re-insert the dial and give it a full turn in the
U/R direction (clockwise); do not insert screw (15).
A ring on the sleeve underneath the dial is now visible. Insert a screwdriver in
the hole in screw (15), turn the inner screw and correct the vertical position
of dial (13) in such a way that the bottom edge of the dial just reaches the
ring.
Re-insert screw (15) and tighten it. Re-adjust the reticle position by giving
the dial a full turn counter clockwise, resulting in the zero mark of the
dial being again opposite the index mark on the tube body.
The reticle is now again in the zero position as determined during sight-in.
When you reach the ring when adjusting a different elevation (adjustment to
different ranges), you have completed a full turn (72 clicks) of the elevation dial
in the zero position. To set the windage adjustment to the zero mark, loosen
screw (16). You do not have to loosen the screw all the way. It suffices to
unscrew the screw until dial (14) can be pulled up from the gear mechanism.
Turn the zero mark to the index mark, re-insert the dial and re-tighten screw (16).
On delivery of the Conquest riflescopes, their reticles have been set to the
middle of the adjustment ranges and the zero of graduated rings (8) has been
set to index mark (9). From this setting, the reticle can be adjusted upward/
downward and to the right/left by half the ranges given in the following.

Sighting in (Fig. 2 and 3)
The alignment of the Conquest riflescopes relative to the weapon, i.e. the
correction of shifts in the point of impact, is facilitated by the click-stop
mechanisms in the windage and elevation adjustments. For sighting in, pro-
ceed as follows:
a) After unscrewing protective caps (1), you can adjust the reticle in windage
and elevation by turning dial (10 or 12). In the Conquest MC riflescopes,
1 click corresponds to a shift of 1/4 inch at 100 yards (0.7 cm at 100 m).
If the rifle shoots low, an upward correction is required (“U” direction):
turn dial (10) clockwise.
If the rifle shoots high, a downward correction is required: turn dial (10)
counter clockwise.
If the rifle shoots to the left, a correction toward the right is required
(“R” direction): turn dial (12) clockwise.
If the rifle shoots to the right, a correction toward the left is required:
turn dial (12) counter clockwise.
b) After sighting in, pull up dial (10 or 12) out of the click-stop mechanism
and set the zero mark of graduated ring (9) to index mark (8). Push the
dial back into the click-stop mechanism. The index is used to relocate the
original setting when the reticle is later adjusted for other ranges and loads.
c) Do not forget to screw caps (1) back on. The riflescopes of the Conquest
line have been designed in such a way that, although the reticle is adjust-
ed, the reticle movement itself is not discernible. The reticle always remains
in the center of the image.
Special requirements should be met when sighting in the Conquest
6.5 – 20 x 50 MC riflescope.
To be able to use the full range of the elevation adjustment, the rifle-
scope should be mounted on the rifle at an angle of approx. 20 angular
minutes with commercially available mounting systems (corresponds to
21 inch/100 yards or 58.4 cm/100 m).
The riflescopes of the Conquest line are supplied with the reticle set to the
middle of the adjustment range and with the zero mark of the adjustment
dials set to the index mark on the tube body.

Caution
Do not under any circumstances point the riflescope toward the sun
or laser light sources!
Before using your riflescope, make sure it is functioning properly.
Look through the riflescope to check that it provides an unobstructed
image. Check to confirm the correct windage and elevation adjust-
ment by firing a number of test shots.

Care and maintenance
Your Zeiss riflescope does not require any special maintenance. Do not under
any circumstances wipe off coarse dirt particles (e.g. sand) from the lenses,
but blow them off or remove them using a soft brush! If not removed, finger
marks can damage the lens surface. The proper way to clean the lens surfaces
is with a quality lens spray cleaner or moist lens tissue and then wipe them
with a clean optics cleaning cloth as found in the Zeiss Portable Lens Care
System. The growth of fungus, which can especially occur in tropical conditions,
can be avoided by storing the riflescope in a dry place and ensuring that the
outer lens surfaces are always well ventilated.

Care and maintenance
Your Zeiss riflescope does not require any special maintenance. Do not under
