When printing on standard paper formats, the paper comes out partially
on the rear side of the printer. Make sure that behind the printer there is
sufficient clearance to correctly move the paper

Installation
Consider the following points when you choose the location for your
printer:
The distance between the printer and the host computer must not
exceed the length of the interface cable;
The location must be sturdy, horizontal and stable;
Your printer must not be exposed to direct sunlight, extreme heat, cold,
dust or humidity;
The ADF is installed with the guides opened. The figure below shown
the overall space with ADF in the opened position.

Firstly let the output stacker on the table.
Look at the four plastic guides (A) on which the printer will be fitted

Look at the two locking lever on
the rear side of the ADF.
While raise the locking lever
move it toward the rear part.
In the bottom side of the printer
locate the four slots which be
aligned with the guides (A) for
the correct installation of the
printer.

Now the printer is in position.
In the figure on the right is
visible the support guide of
ADF in open position.
The ADF assembly has two
slots in its bottom side which
have to be aligned with the B
support in the guide.

Once the ADF assembly is
inserted in the B support and
the respective cables are
plugged into the printer
connectors, slowly move the
ADF until the hook of the
guide is inserted into the
stacker hole.
They are indicated as C and
D. A “click” sound is noted.

Insert the ADF assembly on B supports.
Connect the three cable exit
from ADF assebmly to the
respective conenctor of the
printer.

Pay attention to flat cable on
rigth side to be under the ADF
assembly body.
Slowly move the ADF assembly toward the printer.
Now also the ADF asembly is on site.
Once the ADF is in
position be sure the
click is noticed indicated
the closure of the
locking levers.
Install the ADF paper support by insert its hooks as indicated in the
figure.
Move the ADF paper support down until the rear hooks entry in the
respective slots.
Now the Device (Printer with ADF) is ready to operate.
Check if the quote indicated in the figure is free to operation.

Always use a grounded outlet
Installing the Ribbon Cartridge
To avoid damage to print head or any parts of the
mechanism, the printer accepts only original
Compuprint ribbons.
Open the printer cover.
Remove the cartridge from its bag,
unhook the green ribbon mask from
the cartridge pins.
Check for the presence of the
Hologram which identifies the
original ribbon.
Open the upper mechanical frame. Locate the open green lever in the
left side of the printer. UNLOCK the green lever with the left hand
towards the rear of the printer in the open position. Then rise up the
lever to its maximum position in order to completely open the head
assembly
Check for the “click” which means
the correct open lever position,
showed in the inset picture. The
printer is now ready to install the
ribbon cartridge
Turn the tension knob in the
direction of the arrow to tighten the
ribbon.
Insert the upper cartridge pins onto the corresponding grooves on both
sides of the upper mechanical frame. Then push the lower cartridge pins
into the corresponding lower grooves on both sides of the upper
mechanical frame until it clicks into place.
Insert the green plastic ribbon mask onto the print head. Pay attention to
match the two pins (2) on both sides of the green ribbon mask with the
grooves (1) on both sides of the print head. Push the green ribbon mask
up until it clicks into place.
Turn the tension knob in the
direction of the arrow to tighten the
ribbon
Carefully pull down the green lever following the step 3 in reverse order
in order to securely close the Upper Mechanical Frame. If you do not
LOCK the Upper Mechanical Frame, the printer does not print correctly.
Close the printer cover
ATTENTION
The green ribbon mask must be under the metal lock as in the figure.
After the correct positioning check for Print head wheel free movement
by rotating the distance wheel.
REMARK
The printer detects the amount of printed characters and shows the
following attention messages to the operator:
RIBBON NEAR TO END This message appears when the
remaining characters to be printed are less than 500.000
RIBBON EXAUSTED This message appears when the
maximum printable characters have been reached and a new ribbon
must be installed
Paper Handling
This printer is designed for versatile and reliable paper handling. The
flat-bed mechanism allows the handling of special documents, such as
multiple invoices, postcards, labels, passbooks and tickets.
The print head detects the paper edges automatically, the sheet can
therefore be inserted in any position within the detection area according
to the rules described in the following paragraph.
The paper alignment sensors determine the alignment of the upper
paper margin, adjusting it if necessary.
Loading Paper
The inserted documents
must not have folds, tears,
pins, clips, staples or any
foreign material.
If you insert damaged documents or paper with foreign material,
you can seriously damage the printer.
Before inserting a passbook into the printer, open it and crease it in both
directions along the binding stitch, so that the passbook lays flat on the
paper stand when it is inserted into the printer
The document may not exceed the limits of the paper stand highlighted by
the markers on the flap assy.

Errors Handling
Recoverable errors
The printer is disabled with the ST1 and ST2 led flashing and the printer
sounds a beeps.
Press always the READY key to reset the error condition
Not-Recoverable errors
The printer is halted with all the four led flashing.
Power-off and Power-on the printer.

Service Maintenance
Cleaning
No preventive maintenance, on a schedule basis, is required for the
printer. Periodic cleaning will help to keep your printer in top condition.
Clean the printer as follows:
· Every time that a maintenance operation has to be done or the
ribbon cartridge has to be removed and replaced by a new one,
clean the lateral sides of the platen removing the paper dust. Use
for this a soft cloth or a little brush. This operation will be helpful for
a correct behavior of the edge sensor.
· Use a neutral detergent or water solution on a soft cloth to clean
dirt and grease from the cabinet of the printer.
· Do not use an abrasive cloth, alcohol, paint thinner or similar
agents because they may cause discoloration and scratching.
· Be careful in the electronic and mechanical components handling.
· Check for the paper paths condition and to make sure they are
correct. If they are dirty (by paper residues or by ink), please clean
them using a soft cloth.
Lubrication
In the standard service maintenance, NO LUBRICATION is necessary in
the mechanical assembly.
ADF Paper Roller Cleaning Messages Alert
The ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) has a rubber roller assembly to
load paper which require a surface of the three rollers to be clean to
avoid problems of paper loading.
To this purpose a specific CLEANING TOOL has been issued.
This CLEANING TOOL is made of a semi-rigid cloth soaked in a special
cleaning fluid for rubber rollers.
It is supplied in a sealed envelope which must be closed again after use
to avoid evaporation of the liquid.
A cleaning TOOL with relative instruction sheet is supplied with the
TSP40plus device, while subsequent orders must be made to the
purchasing structure quoting the code: SP_MTC00152.
For its use, thresholds have been set on the counters of the statistical
data inside the machine when these are exceeded and the request to
perform the ADF roller cleaning phase is displayed.
The current thresholds are when one of the following conditions occurs:
· After processing more than 3500 documents
· After accumulating 50 loading attempts failed
· 3 months after the last cleaning phase.
after the power on this message is displayed:
ST1: CLEAN ADF
ST2: ABORT
Pressing the ST2 key the operator ignores the request for preventive
maintenance and continues in normal work sequences.
Pressing the ST1 key starts the ADF roller cleaning procedure,
highlighted by the following message:
LOAD TOOL
ST2: ABORT
Insert the cleaning TOOL into the ADF rear loading slide as in the figure.
Display will show the message:
ST1: START
REMOVE TOOL: ABORT
These actions are possible:
1) If you want to stop the procedure remove the cleaning tool, the
machine will return to the state of ready.
2) Press ST1 to carry out the cleaning cycle
At the end of the operation the message is displayed:
UNLOCK ADF
REMOVE TOOL
Unblock the ADF rollers with the aid of the special lever or green button
and extract the cleaning tool, the machine will return to the operational
status of PRINTER READY.
Lubrication
In the standard service maintenance, NO LUBRICATION is necessary in
the mechanical assembly.
Troubleshooting
Paper Jam Problems
The mechanical structure of the TSP40plus has been designed to have
a very low ration between number of media loaded and jams.
However, it can happen that a particularly wrinkled sheet / check with
folds or the like can generate, during its loading, an error causing the
message "PAPER JAM".
To avoid this eventuality, it is always recommended to insert sheets /
checks in the ADF with no noticeable folds, possibly "stretching" them
manually. The figure below shows the TSP40plus paper paths.

Preliminary check (with operative device)
The paper treatment can be
easily verified by inserting
one or more A4 sheets in
the ADF.
Press the EJECT button to
load the sheet from the ADF
which will then be partially
ejected into the front area
(figure A).
Press the EJECT button
again to recall the sheet
back (figure B),
which will then be taken to
the area of the lower bin
(figure C).
Repeat the operation
several times so that the
whole mechanical structure
of the rollers can be moved
without problems
Paper Jam on front
If the paper is jammed in the
paper path has not yet
reached the front and rear
rollers, open the lid and
raise the upper part of the
mechanics through the
green lever on the left. In
this way, the front rollers are
opened and the paper can
be removed simply by
pulling it gently towards the
front.
Press the READY button to
clear the paper jam error.
If the paper is jammed in the

If the paper has stopped
abnormally in the lower tray
and is visible in the lower
area, gently pull it down as
shown in the figure to the
side.
If the paper has stopped
abnormally in the lower tray
and is not visible in the
lower area, open the
transparent front paper
support as indicated by the
arrow on it.
Kindly remove the card and
/ or check blocked as shown
in the figure and close the
transparent front support.
Cheque reading problems
If a check is not read
properly, verify that you do
not insert it in the wrong
way or it has been loaded
wrong.
The cheque must be insert
as indicated in the figure on
the right, with the
CODELINE in right-bottom
side.
Failure to read the codeline
CMC7 or E13B may also
depend on the magnetic
head dirty.
Remove the cover from the
ADF paper path using the
two side levers that lock it
latch.
Find the magnetic head and
possibly clean it gently with
a soft cloth moistened with
water or cleaning fluid (not
alcohol).
Printing problems
If the print is weak on one
side.
The problem may be
caused by improper closure
of the upper part of the
mechanics.
Verify that the green lever is
in the closed position.
If the print is clear and
appears misaligned
character to rumble.
The problem may be used
or tape that has a lock while
dragging.
Check to see if the tape is
pulled correctly by turning
the knob.
Replace the tape with a new
one.
If the print is clear.

incorrect installation of the
tape so you do not drag
properly.
Make sure the tape is
inserted correctly in the
drive pin in the ribbon
winding knob.
If printing is not performed.
The printer checks if the
consumable is original and
can not stop printing.
Verify the presence of the
hologram that identifies the
originality of the tape.
If the printer you an error
message tape.
Check to see if the belt is
installed correctly (sensor
contacts on the right side
not in contact with the tape).
If the print has burrs.
Check the media the green
ribbon is installed correctly.
The support must be in the
middle hooking.
If the media is under the
engagement center is bent
and this can cause
bleeding.
Scan problems

If the image of the scan has
inperfezioni, the outer
surface of the scanner may
have residues (glue,
sbianchetto, etc.)
Clean the surface of the
scanner with a soft cloth
moistened with water or
cleaning fluid (not alcohol).
In the figure is shown the
scan area of the scanner
below.
The top one is in the same
position but attached to the
top of the mechanical open.
