Read these instructions carefully. Only then
will you be able to operate your appliance
safely and correctly. Retain the instruction
manual for future use or for subsequent
owners.
Check the appliance for damage after
unpacking it. Do not connect the appliance
if it has been damaged in transport.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer, its service
agent or similarly qualified persons in order
to avoid a hazard.
Only a licensed professional may connect
appliances without plugs. Damage caused
by incorrect connection is not covered
under warranty.
This appliance is intended for domestic use
only. The appliance must only be used for
the preparation of food and drink. The
appliance must be supervised during
operation. Only use this appliance indoors.
This appliance is not intended for operation
with an external clock timer or a remote
control.
This appliance may be used by children
over the age of 8 years old and by persons
with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or by persons with a lack of
experience or knowledge if they are
supervised or are instructed by a person
responsible for their safety how to use the

Children must not play with, on, or around

Combustible items stored in the cooking
compartment may catch fire. Never store
combustible items in the cooking
compartment. Never open the appliance
door if there is smoke inside. Switch off
the appliance and unplug it from the
mains or switch off the circuit breaker in
the fuse box.

use the top of the appliance as a work top
or storage area.

A draught is created when the appliance
door is opened. Greaseproof paper may
come into contact with the heating
element and catch fire. Do not place
greaseproof paper loosely over
accessories during preheating. Always
weight down the greaseproof paper with a
dish or a baking tin. Only cover the
surface required with greaseproof paper.
Greaseproof paper must not protrude over
the accessories.

distance.

Water in a hot cooking compartment may

Scratched glass in the appliance door may
develop into a crack. Do not use a glass
scraper, sharp or abrasive cleaning aids or
detergents.

Causes of damage
Caution!
When using the heating modes top and bottom heat or hot-
air, do not place accessories or ovenware on the cooking
compartment floor. Do not cover the cooking compartment
floor with any sort of foil or greaseproof paper. This will cause
heat to accumulate. The baking and roasting times will no
longer be correct and the enamel will be damaged.
Water in a hot cooking compartment: do not pour water into
the cooking compartment when it is hot. This will cause
steam. The temperature change can cause damage to the
enamel.
Moist food: do not store moist food in the cooking
compartment when it is closed for prolonged periods This will
damage the enamel.
Fruit juice: when baking particularly juicy fruit pies, do not
pack the baking tray too generously. Fruit juice dripping from
the baking tray leaves stains that cannot be removed. If
possible, use the deeper universal pan.
Heavily soiled oven seal: if the oven seal is heavily soiled, the
oven door will no longer close properly when the oven is in
operation. Always keep the oven seal clean.
Oven door as a bearing surface: do not stand or place
objects on the oven door when it is open. Do not hang
objects on the oven door.
Carrying the appliance: do not carry or hold the appliance by
the door handle. The door handle cannot support the weight
of the appliance and could break.
Energy and environment tips
Here you can find tips on how to save energy when baking and
roasting and how to dispose of your appliance properly.
Saving energy
Only preheat the oven if this is specified in the recipe or in
the operating instruction tables.
Use dark, black lacquered or enamelled baking tins. They
absorb the heat particularly well.
Open the oven door as infrequently as possible while you are
cooking, baking or roasting.
It is best to bake several cakes one after the other. The oven
is still warm. This reduces the baking time for the second
cake. You can also place two loaf tins next to each other.
For longer cooking times, you can switch the oven off
10 minutes before the end of the cooking time and use the
residual heat to finish cooking.
Environmentally-friendly disposal
Dispose of packaging in an environmentally-friendly manner.
Installation and connection
: Risk of fire!
The vapour steam extractor on the rear of the device gets very
hot. Flammable wall coverings (fabric, wallpaper, etc.) can
catch fire. The wall covering must be heat-resistant to at least
90 °C.
The appliance corresponds to protection class I and may only
be operated in conjunction with a protective earth terminal.
The appliance is fitted with a plug and must only be connected
to a properly installed earthed socket. The fuse must be at least
10 amps. The mains voltage must correspond to the voltage
specified on the rating plate.
A socket must only be installed or the power cable replaced by
a qualified electrician. The appliance plug must always be
accessible.
No multi-plugs, multiple connectors or extension leads must be
used. Overloading causes a risk of fire.

Place the table-top appliance on a solid, level surface (at least
85 cm above the floor). The ventilation slots on the rear and

electrical and electronic appliances (waste electrical
and electronic equipment - WEEE). The guideline
determines the framework for the return and recycling

Your new oven
Here you will learn about your new oven. The control panel and
the individual operating controls are explained. You will find
information on the cooking compartment and the accessories.
Control panel
Here, you can see an overview of the control panel. These
instructions are intended for several models. Depending on the
appliance model, individual details may differ.
Temperature selector }
Use the temperature selector to set the required temperature.
When the oven is heating up, the heating indicator lights up. It
goes out during pauses in heating.
Function selector !
Use the function selector to set the type of heating.
Timer 0
Set the cooking time using the timer. The oven only operates
when a cooking time is set. Once the cooking time has
elapsed, the oven stops heating automatically. If the oven is not
in operation, the kitchen timer function can be set.

Cooking compartment lighting
The cooking compartment lighting is switched on when the
function selector is not in the
Û off position, and the timer is
running. To switch off the cooking compartment lighting, turn
the function selector or the timer to the
Û position.
Once the timer has elapsed, the cooking compartment lighting
switches off automatically.
Accessories
The accessories can be inserted into the oven at 3 different
positions.
When grilling a single thick piece of food, slide the wire rack in
at level 2, otherwise the food may touch the grill.
The accessories may become deformed when they become
hot. As soon as they have cooled down, the deformation
disappears with no effect on the function.
You can buy accessories from the after-sales service, from
specialist retailers or online. Please specify the HEZ number.
The accessories can be pulled out approximately halfway until
they lock in place. When inserting the wire rack first tilt it and
then slide it in. Ensure that you insert the wire rack with the
correct side up.
The shelves shall also be constructed to prevent cooking
dishes, or the like, from sliding over the rear edge.
Before using the oven for the first time
In this section, you can find out what you must do before using
your oven to prepare food for the first time. First read the
section on Safety information.
Heating up the oven
To remove the new cooker smell, heat up the oven when it is
empty and closed. An hour of
% Top/bottom heating at
200 °C is ideal. Ensure that no packaging remnants have been
left in the cooking compartment.
1. Use the function selector to set % Top/bottom heating.
2. Use the temperature selector to set the temperature to
200 °C.
3. Set the timer to 60 minutes.
After an hour, the oven switches off.
Cleaning the accessories
Before you use the accessories for the first time, clean them
thoroughly with hot soapy water and a soft dish cloth.
Setting the oven
There are various ways in which you can set your oven. Here
we will explain how you can select the desired type of heating
and temperature or grill setting.
The timer function is used to set the cooking time for your dish.
When the cooking time has elapsed, the oven switches off
automatically. This means that you do not have to interrupt
other work to switch off the oven. The cooking time cannot be
accidentally exceeded.
Setting the type of heating, temperature and
cooking time
Example in the diagram: Top/bottom heating % at 190 °C,
40 minutes.
1. Use the function selector to set the type of heating.

For ovenware, cake tins, roasts,
grilled items and frozen meals.

2. Use the temperature selector to set the temperature.
3. Turn the selector for the timer function clockwise to the stop
and then back to the required cooking time.
The cooking compartment lighting switches on. The oven
begins to heat up. The heating indicator lights up and the
cooking time begins to elapse.
Caution!
Whenever the timer is running, the oven continues to heat up
when the door is open. Keep the oven door closed when the
oven is in operation. After every use, turn the timer to the off
position if it has not yet elapsed.

A signal sounds. The oven stops heating. The cooking
compartment lighting goes out. The timer is in the off position.

Changing settings
The type of heating, temperature and cooking time can be
changed at any time with their respective selector.
Switching off the oven
To stop the oven before the cooking time has elapsed, turn the
timer to the off position.
Kitchen timer
When the oven is switched off, the timer function can be used
as a kitchen timer. You can set a cooking time of up to
120 minutes.
Setting the kitchen timer
1. Turn the timer clockwise to the stop.
2. Then turn it back to the required cooking time.
The cooking time begins to elapse.
The cooking time can be changed at any time. To do this, turn
the selector clockwise to the stop and then back to the new
cooking time.

Care and cleaning
With good care and cleaning, your oven will remain clean and
fully-functioning for a long time to come. Here we will explain
how to maintain and clean your oven correctly.

Notes
Slight differences in the colours on the front of the oven are
caused by the use of different materials, such as glass,
plastic and metal.
Shadows on the door panel which look like streaks, are
caused by reflections made by the oven light.
Enamel is baked on at very high temperatures. This can
cause some slight colour variations. This is normal and does
not affect their function. The edges of thin trays cannot be
completely enamelled. As a result, these edges can be
rough. This will not impair the anti-corrosion protection.
Cleaning agent
To ensure that the different surfaces are not damaged by using
the wrong cleaning agent, observe the information in the table.
Do not use:
Harsh or abrasive cleaning agents,
Cleaning agents with a high alcohol content,
Hard scouring pads or cleaning sponges,
High-pressure cleaners or steam cleaners.
Wash new sponge cloths thoroughly before use.

Troubleshooting
Malfunctions often have simple explanations. Refer to the table
before calling the after-sales service as you may be able to
remedy the fault yourself.

Replacing the oven light bulb
: Risk of electric shock!
When replacing the cooking compartment bulb, the bulb socket
contacts are live. Before replacing the bulb, unplug the
appliance from the mains or switch off the circuit breaker in the
fuse box.
If the bulb in the oven light fails, it must be replaced.
Replacement heat-resistant bulbs can be obtained from the
after-sales service. Please supply your appliance's E number
and FD number.

1. Switch off the circuit breaker or unplug the mains plug.
2. Open the appliance door.
3. Lay a tea towel in the cold cooking compartment to prevent
damage.
4. Unscrew the glass cover and the faulty oven light bulb inside
the cooking compartment by turning it anti-clockwise.
5. Replace the oven light bulb with one of the same type.

6. Screw the glass cover of the oven light bulb back on.
7. Remove the tea towel and switch the circuit breaker back on
or plug the mains plug back in again.
Turn the function selector to any type of heating to check that
the oven lighting works correctly.
Area Cleaning agent
Oven front Hot soapy water:
Clean with a dish cloth and dry with a
soft cloth. Do not use glass cleaners or
glass scrapers.
Door panels Glass cleaner:
Clean with a soft cloth. Do not use a
glass scraper. Do not use any abrasive
cleaning agents or sharp metal objects.
These could scratch and damage the
surface of the glass panel.
Rotary knobs Wipe with a damp cloth and some wash-
ing-up liquid. Dry with a soft cloth.

Hot soapy water or a vinegar solution:
Clean with a dish cloth.
If there are heavy deposits of dirt, use
oven cleaner. Only use when the cooking
compartment is cold.
Glass cover for the
oven light
Wipe with a damp cloth and some wash-
ing-up liquid. Dry with a soft cloth.
Seal Hot soapy water:
Clean with a dish cloth. Do not scour.

Soak and clean with a dish cloth or
brush.

Notes
The values in the table always apply to dishes placed into the
cooking compartment when it is cold and empty.
Only preheat the appliance if the table specifies that you
should do so. Do not line the accessories with greaseproof
paper until after they have been preheated.
The times specified in the tables are guidelines only. They will
depend on the quality and composition of the food.
Use the accessories supplied. Additional accessories may be
obtained as special accessories from specialist retailers or
from the after-sales service.
Before using the oven, remove any unnecessary accessories
and ovenware from the cooking compartment.
Always use oven gloves when taking hot accessories or
ovenware out of the cooking compartment.
Cakes and pastries
Baking tins
It is best to use dark-coloured metal baking tins.
Baking times are increased when light-coloured baking tins
made of thin metal or glass dishes are used, and cakes do not
brown so evenly.
If you wish to use silicone baking tins, use the information and
recipes provided by the manufacturer as a guide. Silicone
baking tins are often smaller than normal tins. The amount of
mixture and recipe instructions may differ.
Tables
The tables show the ideal type of heating for the various cakes
and pastries. The temperature and baking time depend on the
amount and composition of the mixture. This is why
temperature ranges are given in the tables. You should try the
lower temperature first, since a lower temperature results in
more even browning. You can increase the temperature next
time if necessary.
If you preheat the oven, the baking time is shortened by 5 to
10 minutes.

Before you start: Only preheat the appliance if the recipe specifies that you should do so. If you do pre-
heat, select a temperature that is lower than the baking temperature specified in the
cooking table. Apart from the baking tray or wire rack required for baking, there should
be no other objects in the oven. If you are using a small tin or tray for baking, place this
right in the centre of the wire rack.
The ingredients used have an effect on
the cooking time.
All the ingredients used for cakes and strudel/bakes must be fresh and at room temper-
ature. Flour must be of the quality required for baking cakes and strudel/bakes and must
be sieved. Use baking powder and yeast according to the instructions and quantity indi-
cations of the manufacturer.
Cakes and bakes/strudel brown very
quickly but are not cooked through.
Not all foods brown at the same rate. When you brush food with egg, milk or oil, they
brown more quickly. If the bake browns too quickly: next time, slide the baking tray in at
a lower level, reduce the temperature and increase the baking time. Otherwise, the bake
may not be cooked through on the inside, even if appears to be on the outside.
Preparing yeast dough The milk (or water) must be lukewarm in order for the dough to rise. The dough should
have the consistency of an earlobe. A hard dough will not rise. Allow the dough to prove
in a warm place for about 30 minutes. Do not leave to prove for too long, otherwise the
dough will become sour. Once you have made the dough into the required shape, leave
it to prove for a further 15 minutes and then place it in a cold oven. When it is cooked,
take the dough out of the oven, cover it with a damp tea towel and leave it to cool. This
will give it a soft crust.
You wish to bake according to your own
recipe.

You can check whether a cake is
cooked or not.
Approximately 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time, insert a thin cocktail stick
into the deepest point of the cake. If the cocktail stick comes out clean, the cake is

Ovenware
Use a heat-resistant dish. The baking tray is also suitable for
grilling larger items.
We recommend that you use a glass roasting dish. The lid of
the roasting dish should fit well and close properly.
If you use an enamel roasting dish, you must add a little more
liquid.
Because meat does not brown so much in stainless-steel
dishes, it may not be cooked all the way through. Increase the
roasting time.
Always place the baking tin in the centre of the wire rack.
Place hot glass roasting dishes on a dry trivet. If the trivet is wet
or cold, the glass may crack.
Roasting
Add in a little liquid if the meat is lean. Cover the base of the
ovenware with approx. ½ cm of liquid.
Add liquid generously for pot roasts. Cover the base of the
ovenware with approx. 1 - 2 cm of liquid.
The amount of liquid depends on the type of meat and the
material the ovenware is made of. If preparing meat in an
enamelled roasting dish, it will need a little more liquid than if
cooked in glass ovenware.
Roasting dishes made from stainless steel are not ideal. The
meat cooks more slowly and browns less fully. Use a higher
temperature and/or a longer cooking time.
Tips for grilling
When grilling, preheat the oven for approx. 3 minutes before
placing the food into the cooking compartment.
When grilling a single thick piece of food, slide the wire rack in
at level 2, otherwise the food may touch the grill.
As far as possible, the pieces of food you are grilling should be
of equal thickness. This will allow them to brown evenly and
remain succulent and juicy.
Turn the food you are grilling after
Z of the time.
Only add salt to steaks once they have been grilled.
Place the food to be grilled directly onto the wire rack. If you
are grilling a single piece, the best results are achieved by
placing it in the centre of the wire rack.
When grilling, place the round baking tray on the floor of the
oven to collect any dripping fat.

Tips for roasting and grilling
Preprepared products
Observe the instructions on the packaging.
If you line the accessories with greaseproof paper, make sure
that the paper is suitable for these temperatures. Make sure the
paper is a suitable size for the dish to be cooked.
The cooking result greatly depends on the quality of the food.
Pre-browning and irregularities can sometimes even be found
on the raw product.
Defrosting
Take food out of its packaging and place in suitable ovenware
on the wire rack.
Observe the instructions on the packaging.
The defrosting time depends on the amount and type of food.
Place poultry with the breast side to the plate.
Acrylamide in foodstuffs
Acrylamide is mainly produced in grain and potato products
prepared at high temperatures, such as potato crisps, chips,
toast, bread rolls, bread or fine baked goods (biscuits,
gingerbread, spiced biscuit).

How to tell when the roast is ready. Use a meat thermometer (available from specialist shops) or carry out a “spoon test”.

Tips for keeping acrylamide to a minimum when preparing food

Keep cooking times to a minimum.
Cook meals until they are golden brown, but not too dark.
Large, thick pieces of food contain less acrylamide.
